1. Anything to do with "TK Armor" on facebook? "Endor Party Crashers" group is full of enthusiasts who love it.
Edit: I just read that without the U is original AM with NE lids. Interesting!
2. Interesting stuff. I like the split bracket idea, no pulling half the counter off when [un]holstering. Good work with a handsaw on that steel too
3. Looks nice in the sun, there! It'll be great for trooping (or display too)
4. ATA is 2 mm but is it also acrylic capped? Hope not
5. I had no idea Mr. No Stripes was from ESB... "When you look at a bunch in a row they start to look like a very sad army."
6. Another cheap option is an as-seen-on-TV product called Zoomies. They're flimsy glasses with plastic magnifying lenses that are about the right sizes, and you get two of each size of lenses per pair. The lenses also have that step-down effect around them. They're clear and give a classic distortion effect around the edges.
7. I can say that I got an ATA helmet long before my armor was ready, so I did that as my intro to the plastic resulting in a less-than-ideal construction. On the other hand, I might feel less confident about building a pricier bucket without that experience. Doing a blaster first is another good option since resin + green stuff is more forgiving than ABS + slurry
8. Cool install. Too bad we havent seen them in action yet on screen
9. Full costume on Amazon shows its scale. Is it me or does it look too small?---------------
10. On big (or maybe small) troops there could be a trunk full of them in case a group of kids wants to pose for pictures. Seems like a good amount of folks have one. I bought one too, I was pleasantly surprised with it
11. The helmet is a great place to start in terms of getting building experience/confidence. You must do what you feel is right, of course
12. Hero lids come to a point at the back and are generally wider, this looks like a stunt turned hero to me. Can't speak for this one's quality, but there are competitively priced options made by folks here that are very accurate and tried-n-true. I want to say RT-mod but it's definitely one of them on the vetted seller list.
13. Yeah it's definitely a Disney. $24.99 msrp
14. I orderedvan officer cap as well as the first tier of OT TK separately and no coupons for me. Oh well
15. You can get a metal or even pvc pipe and drill all the holes yourself, then get a pipe build resin completion kit from any number of sources (doopydoos.com, PhoenixProps here, etc.). Then add electronics from a toy (Disney, Hasbro), or a specialized board you can customize (arduino). All sorts of options at different price ranges. That what you meant?
16. I have a bigger head and ATA is kinda snug vertically. It's fine and comfy, I just don't have much room for yawning lol
17. Had a similar plan, great execution! I use green stuff cleaned up with just a thin (#11) hobby knife for the square corners where you can't manage to sand on counters. Keep it up
18. It's also mirrored, like the original Sterlings
19. If you can make enough space in the handle, you might be able to drop in a 3 position rotary switch. It's a real easy conversion with the dsny guts. I have pics and details in my howto if you need convincing
20. Nice job, can't wait to see how it will get installed. Keep it up
21. Very nice work! Porro prisms are like dealing with the 4th dimension. Somebody managed to do it well recently with a fairly clear image, I'll try to find the link. Not sure if he divulged his trade secrets tho!
22. Sorry for the misinformation Roy's are wide, then
23. Today!
http://www.anovos.com/products/star-wars-first-order-stormtrooper-helmet-accessory-standard-line-pre-order
24. Starting with building a helmet is a great way to gain confidence while checking off a major item from the to do list. Prices range from $120ish upwards, so you can pick what brand is best for you.
Shimming with for sale signs has been suggested by a veteran builder before as a way to get ABS on the cheap. I think he suggested dry then wet sanding to remove the ink and then make it smooth, followed by polish until it matches your armor.
MEPD.net is the sandy website, they'll have all the resources you'll need for a sandy build.
25. I think I ordered mine directly from his website. Yup: http://wannawanga.com
