  1. Being fiber glass with a resin coat, yep it sure can crack but there are several things to take into consideration more than just the material armour is made of. Size of trooper wearing it and how it fits. Close fitting parts can catch and rub against each other creating pressure points that can crack ABS of flex fiber glass. How you troop. Some are very active and not only troop frequently but also move around vigorously. Run, jump around etc. So depending on how you act can determine how long your armour will hold up. Tall or short, removing material in some areas means less flex than the standard size which can also alter the structural properties of various pieces.
  2. Nice to see this progressing Ian, keep up the good work.

  5. Beautiful build Dan, well done sir.
  6. Congratulations Matt, very nice purchase. Don't stress too much with your build, it wont take long and you will be very confident in all aspects of it. The double snap strapping has worked exceptionally well for many members here including myself, another good choice. Looking forward to your BBB day and subsequent build thread.
  7. Congratulations Ardeshir, another beautiful build.
  8. Injection molded plastics. Polyurethane is certainly at least these days becoming very popular by LFL for many of their armour based costumes.
  9. If you need to go wider on the back of the thighs because you need that little bit extra room, 25 - 30 is perfectly fine. The front of the limbs is where you want it as correct as possible. In saying that, no one is going to scale your photos and say "hey your cover strips are bigger than 16mm not 15mm"
  10. Thank you to everyone that contributes to these, I am positive the membership appreciate the detail and information that goes into each edition.
  11. Man, you are doing an awesome job of this upgrade. very impressed so far. I'm going to pin this thread so it's easier to find. looking forward to you next post.

  13. Congratulations Josh, well done mate.
  14. Thanks for the update Dino, looking forward to those photos. I think you went the right route with the shin bars.
  15. Such a clean build Greg, you are doing great work here.
  16. Excellent, thank you.
  17. LMO's have stated it needs to be TFA. Also Toys are only used as a basic reference, this character has a book that places it in a time frame. Who knows what the next LMO's will want or change, it seems to change yearly so at this stage this costume is being built based on discussions had and the book detail and original images. The black series Cardinal toy is a lazy effort to simply use the latest molds they had of the standard trooper simply done in red plastic, but it is interesting that they produced the galaxies edge Black series helmet as TLJ
  18. Rodney, just to go back a couple of posts about the shin closures, you most certainly can use Velcro instead of the elastic with bra hooks. We only judge armour on its outward appearance, not how you strap it all together so do what you are comfortable with and all will be good.
  19. Good to see you sorted out your photo issue, I look forward to your progress. Welcome aboard sir.
  20. It is looking good so far, never underestimate your ability Rod, every cut brings more confidence every part assembled a new skill. Make sure when you are sizing up for your final cuts that you are wearing your under suit. It does make a difference and you will know how that fit feels. When you move to the shins, wear your undersuit and your boots to size appropriately. Also make sure you use a reinforcing strip on the inside front of the shine as well as your cover strip. A reasonable amount of force goes to the front of them when you open them to put on and take off. I also put strips in the front of my thighs before resizing the back so i could overlap them without fear of the front strip taking all the strain. I have skinny legs so had a reasonable amount of overlap to trim away. Your Ab button stencils worked beautifully. Keep up the great work.
  21. Same to you Kevin, new project sounds good, make sure you start a new thread for it.
  22. Welcome aboard David! As you can see the information flows quickly around hear, so start your research, ask loads of questions and your journey shall begin.
  23. Thanks Mathias. So this will be a rebuild rather than a refresh. Danny we can look at this as part of the translation work later on.
  24. Thanks Eric, this is awesome
