  1. Hi Thomas If you want good quality snaps that wont fail easily, you can get them from most leather supply stores. Not sure if you have Mac-lace in Vic but you could try Leffler leather in Melbourne. Generally they are of a better quality and a little more heavy duty so wont fail easily. The snaps from Spotlight and general haberdashery stores are not always the best. https://www.leffler.com.au/
  2. Hi Jonas, I think the overall fit is coming along very well. Perhaps you could shorten the elastic on the outer most straps from kidney to but plate just to keep them in check a touch more. This may change once you are also wearing the belt, so it would be great to see you with that on as well to get a complete idea of how everything will align. Great clean build so far, keep up the good work.
  3. I love the detail, patience and time you put into these builds and subsequent videos and build threads. You are an asset to our Detachment Dan.
  4. Eagerly awaiting the next progress report
  5. Welcome to FISD Paige, lots to learn here so ask plenty of questions and the advice will flow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Great kit and I love your Squad logo, that is awesome.
  7. Welcome aboard Andre. We specialise in stormtroopers from all the the Star Wars movies, the original guys, right through to the First Order. Each costume set has its own specific Detachment so as an example, Darth Vader and Kylo Ren belong to the Sith Lord Detachment and they look after those specific costumes. As suggested head on over to the getting started section as there is loads of info there, also have a look at the FISD CRL’s (Costume reference library) they are the sets of requirements you need to meet to become approved as a 501st member. Simply got to the “Pages” tab along the top of the forum and it will show a drop down menu, then click on FISD CRL’s and you can see all the costumes we cover and the requirements for each. Once again, welcome aboard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Hi Robert, welcome to our forums. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. My garrison is looking at marking social events in neutral locations like BBQ in a park to simply get people talking face to face again. We also welcome all new comers and rookies/cadets so they can’t talk to other members about costumes etc etc. we are planning for 4 a year in reasonable central locations. If we put flags and banners up we can also use them for recruiting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Welcome aboard Thomas, see, nothing to worry about, you even got a history lesson from some very trusted armour makers and members. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Perfect, well done Nada. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Still interesting to see they were up to something. We could be very lucky it never got off the ground back then but it is still Star Wars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Love the sharp detail, good job. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Welcome aboard mate, glad TK Ratchet let me know you weren’t receiving the validation emails but obviously we got that fixed. Plenty of help here as you would have gathered already. Don’t let the forums overwhelm you too much, and just ask for help or advice if you get too lost. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Yes you can have two costumes from the one armour, just make sure you meet the CRL for both. The belt for example. TK has drop boxes and a holster HWT, no drop boxes and no holster nor can it have the holes where the holster is mounted so you need some extra parts. Two belts is easiest. Also no weathering on a TK but you can make removable weathering. One technique is the use a newspaper and run the pages against the armour. The ink will transfer but it can simply be polished off when you decide to troop as a Shiny what’re TK. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Ain't nothing wrong with a HWT, they are awesome!
  19. Hey, welcome back. Glad you are moving forward and your progress looks good.
  20. Welcome to FISD. You are certainly in the right place for research and the right advice the first time. Many many years of experience here not just on the original stormtroopers but also we have resident experts with the best and up to date information available on the First Order Stormtroopers. First steps to become a member of the 501st is to make contact with your local garrison. As we are not sure what part of the world you are in I can’t make a recommendation but it’s is always good to have a local point of contact as well. Only prerequisite to joining is you must be 18 years of age, after that you need to make a costume that fits specific set of guidelines to be approved as a full member. The detachments are here to help you get on your journey to making your costume of choice with plenty of advice guidance etc. Good luck on you new adventure, you are going to love it.
