  1. On the list is a white version, but we don't want to push Lucas too hard and scare him away too soon
  2. FYI that our Reception Center (HOME) is driving CPU up quite a bit on our shared hosting site. As a result not only does the host keep shutting it down, but they also sporadically take down our forum. In an effort to keep our forum stable I've shut down the Reception Center for now and we'll see what that does to CPU over the next 24 hours. Stormtrooperguy has also been working to install MediaWiki on the server that we can use to transition the Joomla site too, which should also help reduce our usage. One way or another we'll work to get the Reception Center back online, but wanted to give everyone a heads up on why it's down and what we're doing to move forward.
  3. Pretty much if all you want to achieve is 501st acceptance. You can find the official and signed off CRL at http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_commander If you want to dial it up a notch, going Expert Infantryman isn't really all that much more work. ;-)
  4. Looks good so far! Just some soft parts and you're pretty much done.
  5. Regardless of Mason's helmet, it's clear from the screen cap that the line on your face plate is not correct. In fact, you are not the first person to have the bottom end above the mic tip rather than inboard as in the game render. You've got it mostly correct. References:
  6. Only if you are going for strict screen accuracy to replicate a particular helmet that is seen on screen. For 501st requirements it doesn't matter, but for FISD optional requirements if you decide to go that route, you can see them at: http://www.501st.com/crl
  7. Agreed 100%!!!!!!
  8. I believe it's more or less accepted that the UKG is a special case within the 501st Legion, and it's pattern is not encouraged or santioned to be replicated elsewhere. IMHO & from my POV, it's one of many items that are simply grandfathered in, just like older detachments don't need to use the word "detachment" in their name though new ones do. Also - again me personally here - I think having some of these older traditions adds character to the Legion. If everyone did the same it would no longer be special and a source of esprit de corp for the unit that started it. EDIT: fixed typo
  9. The easiest armor for a newbie is really RT. You can get the helmet pre-assembled and the armor is designed to just slot together and go. AM is next on the list as I think the thighs are harder to get right than RT. You pay a little more for RT, but if you want easy, there's no easier.
  10. Not only are you #175, but you're the first EI in the Carolina Garrison. How cool is that? You realize that next week is "help your buddy to EI week" right? ;-)
  11. Wow Tom - I just can't believe that was an AM to start with. Some really excellent work put in there and it should be an easy pass for Mason. EDIT: bonus point for anyone who can identify the model in the first shot.
  12. Funny enough - I have the same problem at work, but not at home. I'll have to keep investigating unless someone can lend a hand.
  13. As many of you are aware, there was an inadvertent upgrade of the forum boards yesterday. The choices we had were to try to roll it back and lose a few hundred posts, or else "fail forward". Given that Invision 3.2 will fully release later this year and break whatever skin we would have settled on, we decided to keep the forum database in tact and move up our plans to create a whole new skin based on 3.2. While this means that for the next week or so we'll have to rely on the default, boring IPM skin (theme: IPB.Board) the plus is that it works 100% correctly and that future upgrades of IPM won't be as traumatic. We appreciate everyone's patience & understanding during this process as we get our boards looking more Stormtrooper-ish, and also invite you to test out the new features of IPM3.2. Lastly, I'd like to extend a warm welcome to ZeroRoom (Lucas) for stepping up to the plate and filling in as Detachment Webmaster. He was the artist who created the sensational FISD July Newsletter banner sig, and I am confident that he'll do an equally amazing job with the FISD forum. -- end transmission Daetrin TK-8020
  14. The downside of Chrome is that it phones home. I prefer my privacy...
  15. IE9, both at home and at work.

I regret to inform everyone that what was to be a side upload became a forum upgrade, and alas the only way to recover is either to: 1) Completely re-skin the site from scratch (huge amount of work - could be weeks before we get things ironed out). 2) Do a restore from yesterday. We lose 34 hours of posts/PM's, but on the plus the forum is put back to a known good state. Neither option is pretty. I'm included to do #2 if we can get the backups later today. Else we'll have to fail forward and just work our webmasters heavily over the next few weeks.
  18. We're back up. Sorry guys - at times the traffic on FISD gets high and we generate too much load on the shared server we're on and the the host flips permissions on the default file for the site. At least that is what our Bothan technicians say, and they've assured me that there is no evidence of Rebel sabatoge.
  19. Absolutely brilliant!! Can you imagine getting these 3D printed
  20. Great question - I'm in the same boat and would be intersted to see the replies.
  21. I have a spare set I can sell you if you need it from VaderDave. They'll need to be painted though.
  22. If you have something constructive to offer, offer it up. If you have a criticism, then you should offer a solution. Complaining without offering an alternative is also known as whining. And, this is not the thread for this. Stay on topic gents - if you have a beef with how we run things create a separate thread.
  23. As a reminder, you'll need pix and items have to be in hand for you to sell them on the open forums, as well as an asking price.
  24. Or just respond "aren't you a little bald for a wookie"? Actually there are some Vaders who are 6'0" in costume who would much love having 5'5" TK's to have photos with rather than us 6'+ TK's As noted, you're fine where you are though you'll need to do some judicious trimming at points.
  25. Congrats Gareth! Great to see a long time trooper take the plunge.
