  1. True, Todd. From our detachment charter: "2. Develop and create a higher standard of stormtrooper costume for members to achieve and a "kudo" (e.g. deployed status) as a recognition of that accomplishment (the same way the Mos Eisley Police Department has create a higher standard for MEPD Deployment). The goal of this is not to force people to achieve the higher standard, but rather to demonstrate what the costume can become and recognize those who achieve it." From the EIB program charter: "Expert Infantryman status is not required for members of this detachment. It should be viewed as an optional set of requirements for those who wish to take the accuracy of their costumes to the next level, and be recognized accordingly. We're a costuming club - think of it as an award for costuming excellence and you get the picture. The requirements will not replace or supersede 501st standards, but only serve as an inspiration for the level of accuracy that can be achieved. The standards are meant to be high but achievable, and any changes to the standards will need to be approved by a majority vote of this detachment."
  2. This is to me a great Femtrooper look:
  3. My thought too. Ruins it for me. I still agree that Julie is the best femtrooper in the galaxy.
  4. Would be great to see this through - you'd be the first Centurion in Garrison Carida. Actually I'm a bit surprised - only two EI in GC as well. There are some great costumes coming from you guys - I'd have thought you'd be the highest % EI in the Legion?
  5. Congrats Shawn on being the first ROTJ Centurion. There's not a lot of firsts left, but you did a great job
  6. AP also is a smooth cap n back helmet, which some prefer. You have to ask ATA for two right biceps and also matching forearms. AP's forearms are not quite as good as the dimples are softer IMHO. Still, both good kits that will last a long time. Heck, I'm just happy that we're at the level of discussing such things as when this board started it was still an FX vs .RT vs. AP scenario.
  7. Kudos to the the staff for a great newsletter. Guys - these things take hours to do and it's always a nail biter. Well done gents!
  8. Amazing! Some dets don't have that many posts combined. Thank YOU!
  9. Lovin' it! I like it better than my TKC (sorry Mason!)
  10. Well, it depends on what you're recasting. CAP said he could care less about anyone recasting him, so if you could find a set of that you could use that as a base. That's what others have done.
  11. Wow - thanks Nathan! Brent - if you go this route lmk. We could do a few at the same time and save on shipping at least. Maybe others in the garrison would be interested too...
  12. I'd wait and get something right . I got an air-soft version of one and while it's OK it took Wyatt a bit of work to get fully set. I think I paid $450? Thought that included scope, counter, etc. I guess much gets down to how pristine they are, and are they real of later made. Also, how fast do you want to get one? I basicall saved my pennies and then waited and waited for one to come up that was in my budget and pounced.
  13. He also sold his clone molds to Atin saying "I'm 100% out" and then - correct me on this - he surfaced again recasting himself, or was that a newer version? Yet another guy who started off cool & real nice, then just fell apart.
  14. There are good recasters and bad recasters. I really suggest people read previous threads on these prior to creating new ones.
  15. Correct. A HWT is just an ANH Stunt, sans a few items and then adding on the pack/pauldron/pouches. So might as well get your two-for.
  16. Can you ship them within Canada? I ask in that there is a lot of interaction between Seattle & Vancouver troopers, and I've never been stopped crossing the border for my hyperfirm (just leave it in my bin). It would seem to me that once in Canada - you can move them around easier?
  17. Looking great Tim - hope my next TK turns out as well.
  18. I think it's still a good deal. It also shows that with a little ingenuity how these old kits can be made to have new life in them. A great job all around and I got to thinking too, that this suit while a good TK may actually make a better SKY or ICN. Just a thought... You of course are lovely, as always. Anphrax - I highly recommend a trip to HI to hang with the Pacific Outpost. If I didn't have kids to get back to I'd have never left, and even then it was a hard decision. Great work Pacific Outpost
  19. The red based one is called the FISD Service Medal. I created it as a thank-you to everyone who served on staff a full year (or close to it). The reason is that staff work so hard throughout the year and get very little recognition for it. I wanted a way to say thanks and commemorate their work, as otherwise once they roll off of staff people tend to forget what they contributed. Each star is a subsequent award, e.g. one star is a second award, two starts 3rd award, etc. That worked great, but we also had people outside of staff who contribute quite a bit as well. They create best of the best tutorials, or else spend the hours taking screen caps of some EU character, or else just really contribute over time by consistently helping out new members. I wanted a way of saying "thanks" for that as well, as post counts really don't tell the full story (see * below). So I created the FISD Merit Award for oustanding contributions to FISD and the FISD community. In order to keep things fair I also made a rule that current staff can't get this award, as they are already getting "rewarded" with a Service Medal and also that the real reward is the good karma feeling of giving back and helping others. Service is a privelege in it's own right. The reason you see a lot of staff (or former staff) with both ribbons is that I usually recruited new staff from Merit Award winners as they had already demonstrated their spirit of troopers helping troopers, though as you can also see this is not a hard and fast rule, as talent is where you find it, and there are many ways of contributing to the community. Does this help? * aside: on MEPD one person - I think it was Brak's Buddy - used to have a signature that read something (this is from memory) like: - You are not your post count - You are not your TE armor - You are not your hyperfirm blaster What he was trying to say was that we really are equals in the hobby and status is gained by helping others, not by having the most accurate kit or posting a lot. A great way for helping keep egos in check

    Armed Forces...

I started FISD back in 2006. The Legion was formed much eariler. I joined the Army Reserve as an 11B (Infantry) when I was 19 and in ROTC (this is back in 1987). I ended up hopping out of ROTC (stupid!) so I could be a crew chief on OH-58 helicopters, and stayed in 10 years. The reasons why I started FISD are here: http://forum.whitear...hp?showtopic=20 but also in that I was in a small garrison with little local help. I really liked how MEPD allowed people to get help from folks around the world. At the time most garrisons had large TK populations to help locally, but I wasn't in one of them. Also, there was a lot of opacity on information. I was told "once you get in, we'll tell you the real story". That was very counter to how MEPD & CTN were at the time, and I felt it was stupid and wasteful to make people buy inaccurate and overpriced armor on Ebay (or cheap recast crap from a buddy of a buddy in their garrison) and only then once they were in the Legion, only then tell them where to get the good stuff. I swore that I didn't want any other new people to have to go through what I did, and even if FISD stayed small and I helped out only one person it would be worth it. As for the military feel - well again consider my background of 10 years in the Army. You take what you know. Thus the FISD branding is: White: TK's are white after all Blue: was meant to be infantry blue, but also ties in to 501st blue used by 501st clones in ROTS. Black: blasters/under armor is black Gold: refers to officers use of gold in the US Army The crossed blasters are a reference to the crossed rifles which is the sigil for the US Army Infantry The blue "i" in the background not only is a reference to i being 1st (as in I Corp being 1st Corp) and us being the "1st Stormtroooper Detachment", but also ties us back to our 501st clone forebearers. If you look (again) at ROTS the 501st clones have the same blue "i" on their chests. The "Expert Infantryman" was just me being exasperated by people having hives by when we used "elite". I figured the EIB in the real world Army was a mark that someone had mastered the fundamentals of their trade, and really what is the EI award for anyway but excellence in costuming - where someone has become a journeyman in their craft. In the end stormtroopers are the elite infantryman of their era, so it's only natural that we use much of the same terminology. Does that answer your question?
  21. I loved my time in the military got out too soon. There is a huge difference between the Navy & Air Force. I notice that each service appeals to particular personality types. Pick the one that speaks to you.
  22. Ageed Tom - those are future trading card/patch/calendar material
  23. Wow - great wife. Mine says "what? another box?" and then the swearing begins. Outstanding job and you should be really proud.
