  1. This is the one I used, not sure if they are exactly the same or not. BTW it can be sanded.
  2. I used JB weld, I gather it is similar to Devcon, it was expensive but specified to use as a plastic glue, I didn't want to redo everything over . I still used bondo it fill gaps over the joins, easy to work with and dries within minutes, can start sanding with course 36 paper then to 80 and through to 240, removes most of the scratches. Some areas that needed some flexibility I used E6000, specifically the shins as these take a lot of pressure opening and closing, also used on the spats. I used a high build spray putty as it fills in a lot of small holes and scratches, if you apply a mist coat of black it will show you any remaining holes and scratches after you have wet sanded. I prefer wet sanding as it prevents the paper from clogging, you can also use a much finer paper. I start with 240 grit then end with a 400 grit. If there is any holes or scratches left you then use a glazing or spot putty. Glazing putting is a fine filler, for scratches and small holes, doesn't have a hardner it dries in 24 hours, I sand with wet with wet and dry sandpaper, the paper lasts longer and doesn't get clogged up as quickly. Note, you don't want to add a lot of the glazing putty as it can soften from the thinners in paint, so for deep scratches or holes I would go over with a small amount of bondo first. Lots of tutorials online for automotive body work, pretty much the same process on armor
  3. Looking forward to the progress. Don't forget copy the DIRECT LINK of your photos into the post
  4. Has come out really well, great work
  5. Nice work good luck with approval
  6. Congrats Tony, great work and very inspiring. Can remove the background to those images if needed.
  7. Nothing better than BBB day, good luck with the build
  8. Congratulations and welcome to the ranks trooper
  9. Do you have some images you can post.
  10. Nothing better than a BBB, you will find a lot of use sand edges of the armor with fine sandpaper to stop a lot of the scratching, you still can get the odd armor bite or two depending how active you are in armor . Good luck with the build
  11. Nice work, you may just need to have someone watch the spacing of pieces and get you to stand straight and watch some of the gaps and closures, for instance: One of your shoulder bells has a gap but the other doesn't. Your shoulder strap on the back, one is sticking upwards, the other follows the contour of the back plate. You have an overlap on your right calf at the back. Also your drop boxes need to be closer to the end of your belt. A good tip is to tuck your shirt into your pants so it's not hanging out the sides Good luck with approval.
  12. Congratulations and welcome to the ranks trooper
  13. Some of us have no choice as we are just too thin, some like pieces to fit snugly but you don't have room to put on any weight I also have padding on the inside of my ab/back, most wouldn't need too. A finger or two of room is fine, especially if you have trimmed to the minimum size cover strips and trim lines.
  14. Nice work, get in there and get trimming
  15. I would glue a small scrap piece of ABS behind just to give it some strength and prevent it from cracking further. At least it's once of those areas where it will be hardly noticeable, only by you and of course all of us
  16. One of my favourites, has it been 3 years already
  17. Nothing better than blaster building while waiting for delivers to turn up
  18. Nine isn't tight and I'd have a little more than two fingers in some place, because of skinny arms and legs I did have to add some foam to stop pieces moving around too much, even trimming to the minimums
  19. Great news, congratulations trooper
  20. It will be on the 501st forum, on the left menu click Membership DB, then on next menu click Your Profile Data, right at the bottom of that page is Your Unit Affiliation, FISD should be listed there, if it is Pending you can ask the DL (Daetrin) for it to be Approved, if FISD is not listed there contact your GML and ask to be Affiliated to FISD.
  21. Off to a great start, keep it up
  22. I've used nylon and ABS plastic, I find the nylon conforms to the armor a little better and if you make the hole with a soldering iron they very rarely fail. Double snaps can save you when one fails, I've had a couple go over the years, one on my thigh, without a spare there I would not have trooped. I like using snaps on all of my elastic, I find elastic will stretch over time and it's easy to swap them out.
