  1. Couple of threads on ABS paste you may find helpful http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/27755-abs-paste-problem/ http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/23666-abs-paste-issue/ http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/20552-abs-plastic-paste/ http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/2041-howto-make-your-own-abs-repair-paste/
  2. Been wondering how many would notice PK Mini Mee
  3. Fibregalss comes as a mat which you cut, the resin is mixed with a hardener then applied to the mat. If you haven't used it before I would suggest using glue and ABS, fibreglass can be very messy. This will give a general idea of what it is http://www.wikihow.com/Fiberglass I purchase mine from an automotive paint supplier.
  4. DSS TROOP REPORT EVENT: Boo at the Zoo LOCATION: Perth Zoo, Mounts Bay Road, South Perth DATE: 29th October TIME: 5pm to 8.30pm LANDSCAPE/WEATHER: Outdoors with rain TROOPERS: TK24812 - Trevor, TK85421 - Q, TI22414 - Sinead, TI14240 - Stuart , SL51164 - Stuart, Tricia - DZ11880, Trevor - TK24812. Chivo - DZ4582, Wayne - TB20074, Mark - DZ04471, Kev - TD84000, Tahlee - TD84001, Peter - TS98311, Luke - IC36367 NON APPROVED COSTUME: Ken (Kylo) WRANGLERS: Em, Tracey, Liz, Matt GALACTIC ACADEMY: Alex REPORT: Troops and their family members started arriving from 3.30 onwards, most ready to go by time our event host came to collect us. We headed to our secret area for changing and with some time to spare took our time getting changed. We were ushered through the back lanes in readiness for the gates to open and the crowds to enter. We didn't expect the onslaught of younglings and their parents, many of which got into the spirit of the event and dressed in their favourite scary costumes. I would say most of the younglings had a sweet tooth as my trick or treat bucket was empty after the first 2 minutes. Troops dispersed around the zoo with many photos being taken with the public. We were asked to be grouped behind the stage @ 6pm for the DJ to play the imperial march and have us all walk around the stage, unfortunately just before this was to take place the skies opened and the rain came down. Looks of panic from the zoo's event host and our squad leader, parents and younglings running for cover, troops huddled where they could, under trees and in gazebo's, sorry to the family birthday party we crashed, I'm still waiting for my piece of cake too . Rain didn't last long and we ventured outside again, it was short lived, down came the rain once again, another look of panic on Liz's face seeing M'Lord followed by two soggy Jawa's walking across the grassed area with the rain falling down, luckily it didn't last long and our troops survived the downpour. Stage appearance went without a hitch, we then mingled in the crowds having more photos and a few troopers doing a little dancing. Getting dark and the sugar starting to overcome the younglings we decided to call it a night and head back. Unfortunately for our two Sandies the walk back took another 20 minutes being stuck by the over sugared comatose younglings. Even with the rain it was a great success, a big thank you to our squad leader Liz for organising this event, a logistical nightmare but a resounding success. INJURIES: A few grey hairs for Liz CASUALTIES: a few soggy troopers ARMOR REPAIRS: Some drying of costumes will be needed HAPPY PEOPLE: Those that stayed dry UNHAPPY PEOPLE: Those that got wet MISSION STATUS: Complete REPORT BY: TK85421 A few photos
  5. When drilling though thin material I put a block of wood behind, seems to help. In areas too think that you know will crack, scuff with sandpaper and glue strips of ABS behind, or reinforce with fibreglass and resin.
  6. Thought I'd mix it up this Halloween, please welcome Pumpkintrooper
  7. Helmet seems to be sitting very high, you have a large gap on the back of your neck Calves are not closed properly Belt too long Belt being pushed outwards on left side, a problem with the armor meeting properly? If a Stunt version holster should only have 2 rivets not 4 Belt boxes need to go further towards end of belt I would put some foam in your shin to keep your sniper plate held outwards, it will hit your thigh as it is
  8. I have a few costumes, I find suitcases the cheaper option, can fit a TK in one nicely if you pack just right, the FOTK takes a little more room so I use a suitcase and a carryon bag. For the buckets I use helmet bags but usually keep them on display while not trooping
  9. I like to add some abs and rivets to the elastic, easy to change if your elastic stretches, which it can do over time, but nothing wrong with gluing elastic straight to the ABS if you wish
  10. Testors do their own thinners and you are only using a small amount. Thinners by itself with melt ABS but in such a small quantity it hasn't been a problem for me
  11. Try this tutorial http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/tutorials/article/48-posting-images-in-threads-2015/
  12. I found using some paint thinner helps, sometimes the paint can be too thick and doesn't flow well and shows brush strokes, I applied 3 thin coats which seemed to do the job, left to dry between coats or it can wrinkle .
  13. I had a similar issue, I used E6000 glue and two pieces of abs behind the crack, I then sanded the crack a little to open it, filled that with ABS paste, waited two days and sanded then covered the whole area with bondo, sanded primed and painted, has not failed so far. I do try to be as careful as I can now to get my arms inside the openings, it's just one of those places which takes a lot of strain.
  14. Desert Scorpion Squad EVENT: TELETHON KIDS CARNIVAL DAY II LOCATION: PCEC DATE: 16-10-16 TIME: 9AM TO 6PM LANDSCAPE/WEATHER: INDOOR TROOPERS: LIZ TB13310, Q TK85421, TAHLEE TD84001, JO TI10996, WILSON TK5841, WAYNE TB20074, DANIEL CC79969, STUART SL51164 WRANGLERS: Michael, Corinne, Phil, Em REPORT: Day II started a little later as everything was setup. This was very much a mirror image of Saturday however crowd numbers were greater as Telethon was in full swing. We walked the cue as the public waited for the doors to open, the squad was a great distraction to keep the kids[big and little] entertained with the usual photo requests. Once inside we mingled doing what we do I guess, each of us had our own routine in place and from what I could tell we all got some breaks whilst maintaining a Star Wars presence at all times. My day was broken up between costuming, mini breaks, assisting a little on speeder bike patrol, lunch and back to costuming. Later in the day, the penny finally dropped for me and I realised that Q's favourite photo op spot, just outside the carnival had a temperature drop of what seemed to be 10 degrees,so I stationed myself there. The convention centre crew must have been on overdrive as they were hosting several events so having to limit the number of costumers made sense as the place was packed, they were well organised and well staffed with security and assistance. About 4ish we called it, it was up to the speeder bike crew to finish off the day up until about 5. With high vis on Corrinne, Chivo, Liz, Q, Em and myself packed up. Another successful troop over. If we are fortunate enough to be invited costumers again, see you next year at Telethon. INCIDENTS,ARMOUR REPAIRS: None that come to mind for day II as Jo could see today so that was a bonus. Great response from the public and feedback from the organisers was positive. MISSION: Complete REPORT: SL51164
  15. I use standard lego storage containers and modify them myself, I like to mix it up at some of the more relaxed troops, here's a few other photos
