  1. Kit also came with Phasma pieces, I must admit I've not looked into all the detailing of that costume so I'll leave those until later. The clasps/greeblies seem more like a fiberglass resin so have that weird surface you get when it's molded, I would think a plasic would be better No recess or detail for clasp/greeblies or side box placement Section missing from the back, does not align with ab Found a small crack on top of the ab lip, I would say this was from transport as I've been pretty careful Some measurements to show sizing
  2. A few issues with the spats, some overhang when pieces are held together, also when they are they are still quite open, would need some heat to get these to stay closed with no tension. Forearms are really large, advantage as it would allow for sizing but because if you need to trim them down to a minimum arm size then they are hard to fit together, even without trimming them I can see the angles are forcing the pieces outwards, even bending in the corners when I try to gently hold. Some details not quite right form screen images seen.
  3. DSS TROOP REPORT EVENT: Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation Family BBQ LOCATION: PMH – Megazone, Roberts Rd, Subiaco WA 6008 DATE: Wednesday 13th July 2016 TROOPERS: TR13310 – Liz - Liz SL51164 – Stuart – DV64 TI4748 – Ken – Zander TK85421 - Glen - gmrhodes13 REPORT: We all arrived at 1630hrs and made out way to the change rooms to suit up. We were guided by our lovely PMH representative to the outdoor BBQ area were some surprised children and their parents were eager to talk photo’s with bad guys from Star Wars. The air was thick with excitement and the smell of BBQ sausages and burgers. I could hardly contain my hunger, but luckily my groaning stomach could not be heard over the enthusiastic gasps from the children. Stitches the Bear also made an appearance and momentarily distracted the kids from the Star Wars onslaught, but Stitches was no match for the might of the Empire as the kids flocked to our star studded line up of Vader, Royal Guard, Tie Pilot and TFA Stormtrooper. Later we made a ward visit and brighten the day for a number of very brave boys and girls. It was truly an honour and a very humbling experience to met such brave kids and their parents. Afterwards it was back up for another round of entertaining at the BBQ and a quick game of basketball before we changed back into our civilian clothes. We grabbed a quick bite to eat at the BBQ before taking our shuttles home. CHARITY: Nil INJURIES: Just my feelings when a little girl told me that I wasn’t real. ARMOR REPAIRS: Stuart had a tragic accident as we were leaving when a faulty bag strap caused his bag to fall to the ground, resulting in a piece breaking off the Vader Chest piece and some damage to his Vader mask. Thankfully it damage should be repairable. HAPPY PEOPLE: All of them UNHAPPY PEOPLE: No one MISSION STATUS: Complete REPORT BY: TI4748 Zander Rockng the vest and pouch for the first time
  4. Thanks guys 2 loops on the back of the pouch slip over the vest strap Pouch thread here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38031-qs-first-order-stormtrooper-shoulder-pouch/
  5. I take that thank you back, no access yet
  6. Thanks Tim, those drop bears be cray cray
  7. You would need to remove side screws/rivets and either bring the faceplate forward or you may be able to slightly tilt it down to reduce the gap a little, personally I don't think it looks bad but it's up to you. If you move the facepate forward it will upset how your ears sit so they will need adjusting and the holes will no longer line up. As to the bump in the middle of the trim, you could bring the centre down and add a little glue to keep it in place.
  8. There is enough room to take off one end and move it to the side, the elsastic has enough give and holds well. I only used it a few times when I have been at a troop without a wrangler, just pop my keys in there. The angled abs pieces are glued inside the end caps, then a piece of elastic glued to one of them with Velcro attached to the other end, glue the opposite Velcro to the other angled abs and done. At least using the Velcro you can take the end off completely if you need too.
  9. I don't have access to post in that section either
  10. If you are a little scared I'd suggest a hand plate or two, can't go too wrong there and gives you a feel for what you are using and doing
  11. I have had a little time to go through a few of the parts and I have sent some preliminary feedback to Peter, there are a few pieces that have been trimmed too far, the trouble area on the yoke and back plate on the sides, which will make it difficult to assemble as is, these would need some modification and reinforcement otherwise they will just crack if worn. Knowing how my reinforced kit has gone over the last 8 months this would definitely need to be addressed. Just holding a few pieces together with magnets to look at fitment Also issue with top of spat, right foot Detailing on biceps short and wide TD will need a lot of attention, a few areas not quite lining up, above or average builder should be ok but will need some heat and bending, also no shoulders on either end. Chest section detail very soft
  12. If you check my thread I have already compared other armor to FN armor. I am not aware of what process was used to pick anyone, I was first contacted by Peter from FN amror and then I discussed this with Tim (FISD DL) and he was happy for me to take part. Kevin (KB) has contacted me and he will be sending some pieces for comparison. Could be I have built quite a few sets of armor of different makes not just for myself but for other members and I may know what to look for
  13. you do that here http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/16-501st-trooper-status-requests-include-link-to-your-501st-profile-in-your-request/
  14. Ahhh that nervous panic of WHAT DO I DO NOW IT's HERE lol. Good luck mate, just remember measure twice and cut one
  15. I found it stays better if you start behind the vocoder but some prefer the back.
  16. Just pinching a photo from Evin's Jimmiraquoi build and comparing the ab plate, a lot of differences, I'll just point out a couple of obvious ones
  17. I found the sticky back Velcro does come loose, (it gets pretty hot here) so I use E6000 on normal velcro
  18. For most section I used E6000, just a great glue if anything moves and you need to separate and remove the old glue. For the pieces you don't want any movement from I used JB weld.
  19. Even though I was pretty sure from photo comparisons, does not look like Anovos
  20. Opposite side or underside I can confirm that today I have received a kit from FN Armor which was free for testing, comparison, building and feedback, I have just started a build thread here http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38080-qs-fn-armor-build/
  21. Today I received a set of FOTK armor offered by Peter from FN Armor for comparison, building and feedback. For anyone wondering after initially being approached by Peter if I would take part I first contacted Tim our DL to make him aware and he was happy for me proceed. I then advised Peter as a GML and 501st member I could not endorse or promote his armor but would be happy to compare, build and offer feedback to which he has agreed and I have not been given any restrictions to what I can post. I have only opened the box to have a quick look at a couple of pieces, I can see it will definitely fit those of my size and larger. I will be comparing with my Anovos armor but unfortunately do not have access to Jim's or KB's armor for comparison. I will have more time over the weekend to have a look at the pieces in more detail. I will be giving some feedback and photos to Peter before getting fully into building the kit. The obligatory BBB photos More to follow soon
  22. I used automotive acrylic paint, not too bad for chipping or scratches and can be cut and buffed. To save getting too many chips I made fabric pouches for all of the armor parts to cart them safely, worked pretty well so far. Still get the odd scratch from a troop though.
