  1. Great to hear, you will have a blast (see what I did there) very jealous over "blast a trooper" it's something we can't do down under due to our public liability insurance restrictions 5V with 4 AA's is what I use and they last for ages, I only use one fan at a time and find that's enough. Not sure if you seen this, bit outdated but still it's not a bad read "troopers survival guide" Don't forget fluids too, you need to stay hydrated, you don't realise sometimes how much you can sweat. Now while at the troop having photos and seeing younglings smile take note for a minute to see if you are smiling like a little kid and then realise nobody can see you smile as you are wearing a helmet All the best for your first troop, looking forward to seeing some photos
  2. Really depends on your height and were they will naturally sit on your legs and boots. You will find when moving and walking the shins can come up, this is why many add a loop of elastic with snaps or velcro to the inside of the shins and boots
  3. You could drop your thighs just a little, give you a little more room for movement at the tops of them, also nearly touching on the sides. Getting close to the exciting time
  4. Best for the @Deployment Officer Team to comment on, hopefully they will be along soon
  5. Unfortunately this is the case, you can just imagine the amount of images this forum could have being the largest detachment in the legion, so there is a limit to how many images you can upload directly. Many of us use Imgur which is a free image host, upload your photos there then post the links to them into your thread. No limit to what size you can upload there. Best is to use the "direct link" from Imgur, or if using computer you can just right click on the image, select copy then paste it into your thread.
  6. Before posting up your pre-approval thread may I suggest having a look through the TKC CRL (costume reference library) just to make sure you meet all the requirements as there had been some changes over the last few years
  7. That's great to see, hopefully some more references will be available
  8. As already noted the SDS kits do need some work for basic approval, there are other kits out there which need less work Here's a couple of threads with builds and modifications of the SDS This also has some great info For all your other Stormtrooper needs and info check out this thread Good luck with the research
  9. Congratulations trooper, welcome to the Expert Infantry ranks and also the EI Honor gallery
  10. Nice work Dan, I will feature this in the next newsletter
  11. Looking good trooper
  12. For your pre approval it's not really a problem not having the right background, it's more to see if you are kitted up correctly or need any adjustments before you apply to your GML. It's more for your GML/GWL having a contrasting background makes their job easier, also for L2 and L3 applications
  13. If its for pre approval I would post your photos into that area https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/193-request-tk-pre-approval/ If it's photos for updating your costume you could post here or perhaps in the ANH builds area
  14. Congratulations once again trooper and welcome to the ranks
  15. As long as you did a nice job they should pass approval Here are some screen used boot references

  20. Sounds like someone has too much time on their hands But seriously what a worthy effort Joseph, well done, looking forward to seeing the progress. Just one note, the FISD nominated charity is actually JDRF https://www.jdrf.org/ although I'm sure CDF are still a worthy cause. FISD History Did you know? FISD's legacy charity is JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) The detachment started to support JDRF way back in 2007, but it became the official Detachment charity of choice in 2010. We will be returning our focus to this very worthy cause for at least the remainder of this term and doing what we can to support JDRF through donations and awareness. Paul "Daetrin" 2007
  21. I use the flatter section on the rear on nylon or ABS plates, helps to sit flush. Depending on the snaps some can only go together one way as the stem length differs, many I've used don't though. Domed on the elastic side Only apply the glue to the nylon, not that it's happen to me but I have heard some have had issues with glue and certain snaps, can cause some heat when drying. Interesting thread here on the subject, another here Make sure you rough the area of armor with some sandpaper to give the glue something to grip too. Also once cut run a lighter or soldering iron across the cuts and melt to stop fraying, or even glue, nylon can fray quite a lot if not sealed. Using some scrap pieces of ABS can help clamp and lay the nylon flat while gluing

  23. Hello and welcome aboard looking forward to seeing your BBB photos when your kit arrived. Generally for the taller broader frame we would recommend an AM kit (Dave's Darkside Depot), but as you've already ordered a MTK may just have to play around with the gaps and strapping and see how you go. Plenty of folk on the forum ready to assist with your build. If you haven't already check out this thread, everything you need to know for a Stromtrooper build
  24. You can normally find Star Wars themed inflatables https://www.amazon.com/star-wars-holiday-inflatable/s?k=star+wars+holiday+inflatable Star Wars silhouettes may work well if using a projector. If you wanted to get really creative you could add servos to the arm sections and rivet those so they move. There is someone who does custom backdrops, out of vinyl or fabric but unfortunately he is on the 501st members forum. A lot of the panels members make to emulate the death star walls are mostly cut out of MDF either by hand or by CNC, it's a lot work but done right can look awesome. You could also buy some of the cheap costumes and make scarecrows Or go MEGA BIG Or if you have access to a 3D printer make some droids, include motion sensor and mp3 player and amp so they talk when people approach. People do like interactive lights and sound You can find holo projectors online, can add your own images It all comes down to price and time and how creative your mind can be
