I have several sterlings, and my oldest has a non attached barrel. The others are all welded. I also had discussions up to the BKA regarding deactivation (not telling that i also have one without welding), and the need to use a simple allen wrench is not what is meant with "without tools". If you strongly believe that everything is legal, i´m sure it will be no problem to give me the contact to your gunsmith, so i can inform me regarding my old without welding?

Romas' Sterling L2A3 to E11 Conversion
Lichtbringer replied to dreadnaught33's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Aaaaah, an island! Now i see it. A welded bolt is here usually a bolt that has it´s frontend welded, so that the firing pin can´t be used anymore. With your way of welding the bolt and the barrel can´t be exchanged for working parts again. -

Confusing - when reassembly is allowed, why do they cut it? Btw, - at the function of this version of a firing mechanism grounding (or welding) the trigger mechanism doesn´t make the gun nonfiring, as long as the bolt can freely slide. If the barrel and bolt are swapped for working parts it still fires, but you can´t stop firing as long as rounds are in the mag. -
The UK is still in the EU, maybe that will change in the near future. Then the UK will have the same procedure from every country it has now only from overseas. Now its easy to send parcels within EU As a company everything is different, paperwork and bills are more automated, and some stuff has not to be paid until the goods are sold to a enduser, until then some taxes and fees are just numbers on papers that are reached through. The difference for Fedex is making the handling at customs. - If i get any stuff to my door, i was lucky. - If it is handed to the customs, i have work (driving and handling), the paid shipping end at the customs office, nonetheless we have paid from point A to point B, and yes that is not fair. Blame your government. - If a postal service handles the customs and delivers to my door after that, they had work and expenses. And that´s something each company wants to be paid for
-
Äh, no. The usual way is the goods/parcels were delivered at the local customs, and the consignee has to drive there, proove the value and handle everything himself. Then he gets the parcel and can take it home. If the parcel service does the handling, pays forward and collects it from you later, they are fully right to charge something for their work, time, and money. Under the line you don´t have to drive several Kilometers there and back, don´t need to spend some hours for driving and the time at the office, you don´t have to take a day or a half off work...... Smaller parcels from private may slip through and can be delivered by the postal service directly to your door - but even with them i would guess for 90% i have to drive to the customs office and go through the procedure.

Both is needed. And that is self explaining. With smg´s they are often confused, but at a control the next officer might know it better - and then you have more than serious trouble. In fact your deactivated trigger group alone is no deac. Change the barrel and the bolt (easy achieveable), load a full mag - and your deaced trigger group allows full auto fire until the mag is empty.

Barrel not welded into the tube? Oh oh, not good. This way it´s still interchangeable with a working one - your gunsmith should know that.

If the cutting of the receiver-tube is a integral part of the legal deactivation - is it allowed to reweld the parts back together? Luckily our guns were not cut and most deac actions are not so much visible, but if we undo one of them, we are with one leg in jail (or pay a very high fine if the judge is in a good mood). -
As most governmental things also customs is not as easy as it could be. Vat is based on percentage of the final price. Customs fee is also based on percentage, but ..... there are different fees on different products. And due to the complexity of goods the HS customs tariff numbers are as complicated as possible (remember, it´s government). Most goods are in much more than one group, depending on their description. For example "plastic model kit" can have a complete different percentage than "costume........", and "Product made from ABS" can have another percentage. That´s a hypothetical example, but one i had very often when working in my job with customs. All descriptions match the bought product, but final price will greatly be affected by the percentage of the description the local customs office has choosen. And believe me, arguing with them will most of the time end in them finding a even higher customs tariff. Additional, the small fee Fedex takes might change a little bit, due to the amount of time their representative had to while handling with the customs officer.

Well, it can´t be ignored that many people out there think and are caling the same names. And before pics proofed them wrong, a lot of people bashed the armor without any proof of their bs - probably to keep their own profit. And many of their waterboys did it, too.

Is this worth buying?
Lichtbringer replied to ComradeDave's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Those rubber rods are for sure good for trooping, but i wouldn´t want to have such a thing on display. And this printed stuff can´t compete with a good cast from a real Sterling when it comes to all those details, as a (good) cast is very close to 1:1 to the original. Next step up would be something like Ddays pipe builds, a nice and sturdy tube with good cast addons. -
Does anybody have an anovos discount code?
Lichtbringer replied to greyfox's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
They assemble to a standard, not to your body size and form. -
I like the Anovos TFA. It´s nice and roomy (can wear my old man glasses in it), i see no reason to buy another for more money. ---------------------

I´m wondering if you plan to make casts of the bolt in that quality, too? As my real sterlings are way to heavy for my mannequin, i´m thinking about a as lightweight as possible version from alu and resin. And your parts are ....... superb. -
Thrawn’s Guard E11 Blaster Stands

With such a small rearpost under the grip, maybe delete the post completely and fasten the u-bracket directly on the stand? -

I have no code - but i like your name. ---------------- -
Depends on what part you need. For Solo blaster parts i would go for Todds: http://www.toddscostumes.com/costume-supplies/star-wars-prop-builders-supplies/ Owning several real Hensoldt scopes myself, esspecially the scope looks way better. Blued steel on other components where DEC has taken shortcuts on his budget sets, .... For the ribbed Tomtit part (trooper communicator) there is still the injection cast original available for cheap: http://www.reademodels.com/ For the droidcaller, just be patient, real Kobolds can be obtained for around the same money. Sure, it´s not as fast as ordering one, patience is needed. I have 5 originals atm. - all from ebay, and for none of them i paid more than people pay for his kits (even in the last year they rarely went over 250), just don´t give up. Denix wood grips - Denix itself offers 2 versions, one with plastic and one with wood. Buyer just have to check before ordering M19 scope - OK, that´s not so easy. You need to get on a BobaDept run, but then you get a brass cast one. They are not often, but if people would contact him with more demand, he might start to offer them more often.

I ordered on 19th April, heard nothing, and it arrived last Friday.
