  1. Thanks for your work.
  2. Both agreed to send out kits to compare, so why should i shell out money to do their job? As i mentioned, the compared suits should be returned to them, so no loss. So ....... FN failed due to sending free gifts to people that can´t compare. Kevin failed due to not sending kits to compare and now trying the cheap way to get his wanted evidence. The whole situation failed due to not setting up a proper and fair procedure before. We failed due to wanting answers on Kevins long and repeated suspicion. I failed due to thinking that would be possible in a fair way without granting favours from one side or the other. FISD staff failed due to trying to handle this without really being in a position to handle it. And i´m sure i missed more failure from someone. If that is not enough to call "the mission" (find out if somone recasted another) failed, what do we need? It´s nice that we now get some insight in the quality and builds of FN armour, but that´s another piece of cake than the above. And even then i would prefer to read the honest opinions from people that ordered and paid their suit, opions might be slighly less biased if own money is involved. My impression from all the above is, and will be in discussions ...... get over it and avoid both. Jimmiroquais armor, or maybe the coming Anovos stuff, seems to be the way to go if you want to be sure. Or wait until this" recast or not" problem will be solved over time.
  3. Agreed, not for FN, he probably got boosted due to this useless procedure. And also not for the people who got free suits to do with what they want, as they got free suits. But for us, that we would like finally to know if one is copied from the other, for us the mission is failed. Under the actual circumstances it doesn´t matter what any receiver of the free suits writes, we will not know more than before.
  4. I agree that the evaluation should be done another way, to give the result the look of being really impartial. 5 sets, and at best one FN to Kevin and one from KB to Peter, of each maker sent to 5 knowledgeable persons (not knowing any armor, knowledgeable at comparing one to one), even better groups of people. So that the 5 comparing people/groups have both kits in hand, side by side. And after comparing they should go back to the maker, so they have no loss, and to prevent what it looks now - gifts, free stuff - come on, "giving it to a friend"? I had a good laugh from that, that´s all. There is one simple question here - is one the copy of the other? For this question it´s senseless how it builds, or if someone likes it. From my point of view it´s "mission failed", completely.
  5. Edited out as there is no value add from this post.
  6. Free kits for testing/comparing, or customers that paid for their kits?
  7. I´m glad they didn´t. The more i see from the new suits, the more i love them. All those small details make it so much better than the old vacformed bumps. And i look forward to the movie, can´t be worser than TFA.
  8. I´m not very shy - throw me in a group of unknown persons, and within half a hour i have the first handfull of friends, or a discussion/fight, or both.
  9. Aye. But it´s still no wasted time, sharing infos is never a bad thing - it may help other people to make a decision when looking for a Graflex some day. Real Graflexes are now so expensive (even a good replica is today easily 200 bucks, too) that some people may try to shady things a little bit, hoping to get a better price.
  10. Maybe, probably yes. But it has been years ago, so i´m not sure (still have a similar to ROTJ style in my mind .... way to much SW props and their variations with new input over the years).
  11. Can't remember, maybe it was aftermarket - it's many years ago that I found it on a site dedicated to all variants of sterling and add on stuff. Wasn't really interested in ROTJ stuff at that time.
  12. That´s not the rail i was talking about, this looks to modern. The other looks the same as the one on the MGC.
  13. Not atm, sorry. 2 are from my Chewie bowcaster, 1 i need for my "i hope to get a MGC into my greedy hands" - and the 4th maybe for the Han Blaster if i find out the now used is wrong for it. Seems i lost the second of the Han Blaster version, can´t find it anymore. All of them i got with vintage scopes, the 2 correct sets i got with singlepoint scopes.
  14. Funny thing is - the rail might be a real Sterling rail, put on a MGC (i believe it´s a machined copy, but the real ones look that way, too). The pic of the screenused MGC from above shows clear it´s a small flange with small slotted screws, like the 4 rings from my pics (not the one used on Han´s blaster). The little white spot left on the knob may indicate it is the version with the ring on it.
  15. Well, they are. As much as you are for armor and i am for blasters and stuff. If we weren´t, we wouldn´t spend time on designated forums to discuss minor details that are unaware to the masses, even most fans.
  16. I´m afraid you need to search the usual suspects for the vintage rings. Not wonna correct BD, but for me they look wrong. Better check all pics you can find, esspecially have a look on the fastening knob, it´s dome shape, and esspecially it´s knurling. You can take the shortcut and use inaccurate rings that look close (well, sort of), or try to find the correct ones, which may take more time. But under the line you´re on a better start than me ..... none of my Sterlings is a MGC.
  17. The average fan is not interested in the details of the armor, lightsabers, blasters, binocs, ..... - only we fanatics are. I assume there are many details on blasters, lightsabers, and other stuff you are way less informed than on TK stuff? Without google, can you name me all the details/parts of Lukes ANH hero macro? Or maybe the stunt? So why should a lightsaber fan, or the average SW fan know the details of armour?
  18. Fans, yes - but also extremists.
  19. Some pics to show what i mean. On the first view these 2 sets look similar. Also on the second: But one set has a groove on the outer rounded section. And the the version i used on the Han Solo ROTJ i made: It has bigger screws From the side the fastening knobs look close. But from another direction it can be seen the dome is much more prominent on one version. But all of these vintage ones have the solid foot clamp, not the stamped sheetmetal as seen on the above pic. And all have slotted screws for the halfs.
  20. May i ask which RPF member? Made just some pics, let me upload them, then i will post some examples.
  21. Sure it´s the complete accurate scopering? I´m asking cause my vintage rings look a little different in details, this one looks to modern, esspecially with the allenbolts.
  22. For the interesting part - the blasters.
  23. It doesn´t matter what I, or you, think about it. Many prop collectors look down on the average costumer due to their not existent want for accuracy. This forum is different, much more fanatic than others. For example when i see people on rebellegion go crazy on the fabric work, and then seeing what crappy equipment (blasters, binocs, .....) are completly acceptable within their rows ..... Differences that are here discussed as being night and day mean nothing to many costumers. And even less to the average SW fan - most of my friend like SW (to various degrees), noone of them is prop collector or even costumer, and not a single one of them can make a vote for accuracy of ANY armor. Next to next they could see the obvisious differencies, but not if one is more accurate than another. Just Stormies. For myself all Darth Vaders look the same if not compared one by one. And if i notice a difference ..... i just don´t care, they all are Vaders for me.
  24. Come on boys, aside all your kidding, the strapping and the TD placement - 95% of all SW fans would display this on a mannequin and be happy with it. And if you start to complain to them regarding it´s missing accuracy you would get those stange looks from the side and they say (or at least think) things like "fanatic nerds".
