Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD Hans Larsson (TI/IC-18181) joined the New England Garrison of the 501st Legion in April of 2016. A quiet man, Hans was always one to step up and help out fellow Troopers however he could. He opened his heart and home to those of us in the New England; allowing Troopers to spend the night after a long days troop, offering to carpool with Troopers to and from events, and perhaps most importantly, pitching in when the NEG crafted a special armor kit for a young man we learned of through Make-A-Wish. The Legion was a creative extension of Hans' desire to help those less fortunate: in his home state of New Hampshire, Hans was active with groups that sought to assist Veterans and the homeless, and volunteered with the New Hampshire Special Olympics. Hans gave back to others in a sweet, gentle way and truly represented the ideal that all Troopers should strive for. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Greetings fellow members, Hope everyone that went to celebration Anaheim had a sensational time, got to make some new friendships and put some faces to fellow troopers you have conversed with on our platforms. We have another great addition for you this month with several announcements which I shall leave to the various staff departments, but one of them is a section I take care of. Our 3D awards forum. For full details please see that section further down, but it gives me great pleasure to announce two well deserved awards. TK14082 Trooper96 Bryan receives another silver award for his continued updates on two of his offerings, L2A1 blaster and the M38 scope. this is Bryans 3rd silver award, congratulations sir. TK51923 BigJasoni Jason receive his first Silver 3D award for his R1 TK belt boxes, a nice upgrade to any of the new gen TK armours, congratulations Jason. Thank you to both these members for their generosity and dedication to our membership and the Detachment. Reminders: Please don't forget to check out the Members Choice Merch Poll. HERE Not only can you have a vote on a selection of possible merch items, but if you have any great ideas, please post them in the thread. Updates: Don't forget to check the Deployment officers section of this edition. We are making a CRL wide addition to all our costumes. This update will take place over the next week and will only affect our higher levels of approval. That's it from me, please enjoy our June 2022 news Letter. With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader 3D printed Weapons/accessories approval for Expert Infantry/Centurion As most of you are aware, resin weapon kits Doopy Doo's are very difficult to come by, there are still other quality makers of resin and aluminum kits available, both pre-built or as kits in E-11s and other items. US - Fieldmarshal (blasterfactory) - mostly metal parts Canada - Quest Designs - resin kit UK - TroopaCoola (JMC) - metal and resin (cast from original parts) On the other hand 3D prints seem to be the wave of the future. I for one say HUZZAH! There are some truly fantastic files out there to use (many are FREE) to either print your own or have a friend (or online service) do so. Building a 3D printed weapon or accessory can actually be a lot of fun, and something to do when you need to take a break from your armor build. BUT, please be aware that whatever type of item you are building must meet our standards when applying for higher levels of approval. In order to maintain screen accuracy, any 3D printed item submitted for Expert Infantry/Centurion approval cannot have visible print lines present. This will apply to all costumes, and has been added to the CRLs for each as a Level 2 (EI) requirement. Wh-wh-WHAT? Is this a new thing? Nope. We have been insisting on this since the onset of 3D printing, but now it's official. Eliminating those print lines is actually fairly simple, and will make for an awesome looking end product that you will be proud to troop with. If you have questions, we have answers, so feel free to hit anyone of us in the D.O. department up and we will be more than happy to help! Members build threads are one of the biggest areas of watermarked/missing images and we are asking you the membership to help and update your build threads yourselves as this is just too big a task for staff. Build threads requiring updates are being moved over to this area https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/241-build-threads-requireing-maintenance/ Thank you in advance for your cooperation. New FISD Tri Fold Brochure We have just launched our newly revised Detachment Tri Fold brochure. It's been quite a long time since we actually had these available and since then many things have changed leading us to updating some of the text to include new costumes, and have more relevant information. Originally these were done in a limited run by the member who created them, but nowadays, we have moved this to a print your own service making them accessible to all countries around the globe. Files are available to all full 501st members on request, and are completed in a very high resolution to ensure quality in a finished product. The thread can be found here for more information and how to access the files. Just looked at the full model he did! Pretty much everything is spot on (He even did the commander backpack and a redesigned pauldron). It is probably/definitely now the most accurate interpretation of them. I'm glad the Phase 3 is getting so much love and recognition these past few years and can't wait to see what y'all end up doing Life has been busy so my build is on hold for the time being, but I do at least want to finish painting the helmet I currently have. If I ever have the time (and money) again, I definitely want to tackle the new armor in full.2 points

Hi Maria, Welcome to FISD. According to the CRL for ANH HERO TK, for basic level you can use flat or bubble lenses., for higher levels, of course, we would like you to aim for higher level of certification CRL BAsic Level Lenses may be flat or bubble, green or smoke, sufficiently dark enough to obscure the costumer's eyes. CRL EIB AND CENTURION LEVEL Lenses are green bubble or smoke bubble only. When you buy a kit (for helmet only or complete armor), the armorer usually include the lenses . Another option I have used is to buy an acrylic sheet and trim to give the shape for the lenses. https://www.trooperbay.com/collections/lens-material or buy the bubble lenses https://www.ebay.com/itm/144455574816?hash=item21a2392520:g:EsoAAOSwjjpbGBy- Bellow a couple of methods for mounting lenses good luck with your project.2 points

hi Jennifer , you're going the right path with your build keep it up . As you told, trim the inner lien and make the necessary adjustments later . cutting less is better than adding plastic later One tip, I always do with my builds is, before trimming, to mark the cut line with a pencil. Remember, measure twice, cut and glue just once.2 points

Here's Deggial Nox's revamped version. Paywalled mod. Anyway it looks stunning and is a 1:1 recreation of the game model. I'm biased towards the "lore accurate" version, but I would be lying if this recreation wasn't stunning. Anyway this should be a good reference if you want to have a 1 to 1 recreation. Glad my mod forced his hand (Joke). I downloaded some of jaztermareal's models as listed above and plan to update my interpretation. Also if you want to really be RotS accurate like I am trying to do, the chest piece should be nearly touching the belt and not having this huge gap. Example of proper gap between chest piece and belt.2 points

I am confused as to whether the Hero costume can have a flat lens or needs bubble lenses? I am also wondering how anyone has made or bought the flat lens?1 point

Loving the details in this thread. You will find like many of the Stormtrooper game variants that some things are allowable due to not being able to source items exactly how is shown in reference/game images, but in this case making the files from scratch should definitely make this a screen accurate build and hopefully an easy run to a new CRL.1 point

I am so looking forward to getting approved, I ordered my First Order armor from Anovos over 2 years ago, but then they went out of business but Denuo Novo, who took over, agreed to honor my order. So far I have the neck seal, boots, gloves and under suit. Still waiting on the armor and helmet. I have a full set of TI First order armor that I had sourced and had custom made for me from Russia, actually very good quality... I am in Southern Idaho, will be part of the Timberline Garrison/Jolly Roger Squadron if all goes well... looking really forward to trooping and making people happy... I have another question where do you find a good movie quality F-11D blaster replica for cosplay? Anovos used to offer one and it seems like Denuo Novo isn't offering any weapons... So I am looking to get a blaster to finish off my armor and running into dead ends... anyways, nice to meet ya!1 point

OK, initial trim on the bottom edge is done. Just need to figure out where to trim the sides to and then the rough cut on the chest is done. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Ok, well, I got two biceps done. Lessons were learned. But, I don't think I'll be happy with them until I get them just right. I didn't measure the cover strips quite correctly (I know, I know, measure twice, cut once!) so they're a little shorter on one than another. My plan is to fix it, but I've spent so long on these two pieces of armor, I wanted to shift to the forearms next to keep my motivation going! All of your tips and suggestions have helped a ton. Taking it a little slower, doing half a cover strip at a time per @ABS80 suggestion helped me to get a better fit I think so I'll stick with that method. Onto the forearms for now. I taped them up and tried fitting them (again, already pre-trimmed so not too much to do). The shape is definitely going to be a challenge as others have attested to! That, and I'm not entirely sure what it means for a forearm to fit well. Should it feel snug around the forearm or have some room? I suppose if I make it so there's some room, and need to have it more snug, I can add some extra padding. Speaking of which, three questions: 1. What are general opinions of doing inner cover strips? 2. When people talk about adding some padding inside the armor pieces, are they talking about foam? 3. If I end up getting the forearms glued, and the part by the wrist still isn't quite oval-shaped enough, is this something a hot water bath will help with or do I need to really make sure it's perfect before gluing it all?1 point

Congratulations to you both, and I was happy to nominate you for your hard work that certainly doesn't go unnoticed! THANK YOU and keep it up!1 point

Pipe we have down-under is a little different is sizing than that in the US from memory it was 42.1mm OD1 point

Don't be disappointed Chris, this is a learning process . I had the same issue with my first build. Extreme problems, extreme solutions. What I did, not only for biceps but for forearms and thighs as well , was to use a wood piece to ensure a firm and plain surface inside and outside like a sandwich and clamps, clamps . see bellow let dry for 48 hours.1 point
