Glen is right. Things can be a little different with only slightly different placement of the ear. This trick doesn't give an absolute trim line, but does provide a guide line to start trimming. Really just takes the guesswork out of making the first cut. Here's a couple of pictures.

Hello and welcome! As I'm still a new forum member without basic approval, I just wanted to tell you that these guys are amazing and everybody here will help you to the best of their ability. They take "troopers helping troopers" and then take it above and beyond, so someone will always be able to help you. Before starting my armor build I personally had a total of zero experience regarding plastics or power tools and now I've not only got a wonderful set of armor, but also a ton of new skills. Thanks for the suggestion, Rich, this was exactly what I did. Now that there's not much to do until I get the clearance pictures done (unless anybody had any suggestions? ), I decided to spare myself the horrors of trying to put the elastic on and getting it to stay where its supposed to stay by gluing it into the armor. I do have to admit that I'm missing the daily armor build routine. What I might still work on: If I'm not missing anything, there are still a few things that I can do that aren't necessary for basic approval but would improve the overall appearance and set me on Centurion course, such as making sure that the ab plate button paint actually meets Centurion requirements (because that paint was my very first attempt at painting and therefore got way beyond where it should've stayed), finally deciding on a solution regarding my crotch snap/elastic (which I might want to glue so the elastic part is shorter, which would mean that I probably need to lift the back) and sanding down the ABS paste (for which I would need to find a way to set up a good work station for the sanding). Otherwise there are probably some tiny things that I can change to improve the overall look, such as making sure that the S-trim neatly covers the ear and perhaps a few things that I missed but that Tino (T-Jay) might be able to point out when we take the pictures. Oh, and I'll need a blaster if I want to achieve the higher levels. But blaster or no blaster, higher levels or not, there's nothing that should stop me from trying to achieve the best look for my armor, even if it might not be possible to officially get it to Centurion until I get that blaster.

Velcro? Shouldn't need any velcro on the thighs, as they should be fully closed... I can echo Glen (as usual) and agree that some foam blocks on the inside of the outer piece of armor should help pull them away from your undercarriage and make them more comfortable. Make sure they fit you and are sitting at the proper height as well (garters can sag and attaching them to your ab can pull it down if not strapped properly). I also usually remove the return edge at the top, inside of the thigh armor and blend it back in, keeping it on the outside of my leg to give it the look/depth of armor. Definitely post some pics and we'll try to make recommendations.

Since the first one had an 8 liter capacity and this one has 12, you should be good go. If possible, you may want to contact them to find the exact measurements just to be on the safe side. Keep in mind that the measurements in my thread are approximate. The main thing is the overall look and how well they fit on the pack. Since not all troopers have access to the exact same build materials we allow for variations (within reason, of course)!

The version shown in your link is acceptable for HWT at Level 2 and 3, Rich. The body is 3D printed, but that is a real scope (I have the exact same scope) and mine is mounted in the exact same position.

You may have a small issue, Michael. The upper parts of the forearm shown need to have the return edge trimmed out some more... at least to the line shown. The reason for this is that it will more than likely cut into your arm ("armor bite") while trooping. You may also find that once you remove these that the opening will then be too large, and one side will need to be trimmed. The return edges on the forearms are acceptable, but again, you may find that they cut into you. That much extra edge can also affect the way your shoulder bells sit. Return edges in these areas (and many other areas) are not a requirement at any level of approval. Actually, most screen used armor had none at all, or very little. I have a thread here that will explain a lot more. Screen used armor examples If I could make a suggestion, it would be to post up photos of any areas you have questions/concerns about before cutting/gluing so that we can help guide you.

Hi Ryan and welcome to FISD. Your helmet looks fantastic, nice work. Definitely can recommend untrimmed armour as the extra material gives you something to practice on before making final cuts near mold lines. As Glen mentioned its also handy to have off cuts as surplus to make additional internal reinforcements like cover strips etc. Also if you ever have to make ABS paste, you have the same colour plastic so it can be very handy indeed. Hey Ryan, Welcome to FISD. As others have said, you'll get all the help you need here. Don't be afraid to ask, and there's no such thing as a silly question. When asking for help a picture paints a thousand words, so post pics whenever you're able. I find tapatalk really useful for image sharing, and others using sites like imgur. If you get stuck just ask. Don't worry about not having prior experience working with plastics. I didn't before starting on this, and with all the help you'll get you'll be fine. Just remember to take things slow, and double and triple check measurements before cutting; it's better to cut too little than cut too much. And if you're not sure, just ask (there's a pattern here [emoji1]). Have a good look around the forum before getting started. Its a really good idea to look around the advanced tactics section right from the start too; can make things much easier for you if you decide to go for that later on. Hello and welcome aboard, nice finish on the helmet, I think you are correct it wouldn't pass for basic approval as is. Personally I like to purchase armor uncut, sometimes the extra material is needed for sizing and also scraps are good to use for ABS paste. You don't need a lot of tools, many use snips/scissors to trim and sandpaper to finish, I use a few dremel's (rotary tools) with different tips, I hate changing during trimming. You will need sandpaper, bondo (filler), spray putty, primer and paint as some pieces on a R1 need to be filled and painted. POST 17 July 2019 GA Garrison - Coastal Empire Squad This is currently my favorite photo of myself trooping of all time. I've been in the Legion for almost 10 years now in Garrisons in two different countries but this one sums it up. It was a small event at a local comic book store. I couldn't see his reaction when the photo was taken by his mom. She said it was his first time ever seeing a "real" character in person and she really captured the way his face was lighting up. In the latest episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch, an early George Lucas idea is finally paid off with familiar Ralph McQuarrie armor designs for the Empire's first Stormtroopers. In the new episode, the Bad Batch receives a request from Captain Rex to rescue the Clone Commando known as Gregor who's been held against his will on the planet Daro. While there, Clone Force 99 gets their first real look at their Imperial replacements, the recruited Stormtroopers that make up the bulk of the Empire's forces. However, their armor looks to be in an early and almost prototype stage, resembling the earliest pieces of concept art created for the first Star Wars film. In the new episode, "Project War-Mantle" is underway, and the Empire is making preparations to leave Kamino after shutting down their operations and taking their research and lead scientists. Not only that, but they've been using highly skilled clone troopers such as Gregor to train their newly recruited Stormtroopers who've enlisted from all over the galaxy to replace the clones. However, Gregor is trying to escape his new Imperial masters, which is where the Bad Batch comes in to attempt an extraction. While using unused art and ideas from Lucas for the new Stormtrooper proto-armor is pretty fun, it's not the first time showrunner Dave Filoni has integrated Mcquarrie's work, as several elements in Star Wars Rebels were directly inspired by specific pieces. For example, the series' central planet of Lothal was based on several pieces, including one that depicted Lucas' vision for the Capital City of Alderaan. Not only that, but discarded designs for R2-D2 and Chewbacca made their way to becoming the core Rebels Chopper and Zeb, both crew members of The Ghost piloted by Hera Syndulla. In any case, using Mcquarrie's work in this latest episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch is a great nod to the past while providing a brand new chapter that aids in the transition between the Republic's fall and the Empire's rise. Furthermore, it's more than likely that these proto-armored Stormtroopers will be seen again, seeing as how the Bad Batch's Hunter was captured himself by the episode's end. As a result, it's more than likely that a new rescue mission will be staged as the new Star Wars animated series reaches its finale on Disney+ Story from Screenrant Concept Data sheet Currently (as of 5th August 2021) there are 31,911 approved costumes in the legion, out of these homed under FISD there are 5,783. Interestingly the larger the legion costume totals grows the smaller amount of TK's there are with now only 18.12% of all approved 501st costumes. Attention all Imperial citizens of the FISD We have been working on a project which has been under discussion since the start of this term and are preparing to move forward with this initiative. It will form part of our 15th anniversary celebrations and part of detachment history. We can;t announce exactly what it is as yet, but we are sure you will love it. We want your troop photos from around the world. Local troops, Cons, Celebration etc. If you are a TK and 501st approved, you can submit photos. Photos of TK's both OT and First Order, any of the costumes in our CRL to be honest. Can be a single trooper but group photos are very welcome. What you consider you best troop photos or most memorable can add more meaning to this project so select carefully. Ultimately we are after High quality or resolution photos, but for this thread, you need simply only add a lower res version using Imgur or other photo sharing 3d party services. Just make sure you have a good version to supply for the project if requested . Based on how many submission we receive, the final selection will be made by the staff. We are looking for the best and most varied photos old and new. If selected, you will receive a PM from myself or one of the staff requesting you email, share the high res version image (email will be supplied in the PM) Google doc or other sharing services can be used. What info do I need to supply with my image post? You may post as many photos as you like. Date or year the photo was taken and location. (state or country etc) Photographer name if known for each photo. Garrison/Squad/Fire team name. Photos must contain TK's predominantly, we are Stormtroopers after all.
