Hi! I am new here and I want to get involved and I just wanted to put my interests out there. I am a sophomore at Penn State University and I am from Maryland but my family is split up and also lives in Virginia. I love doing charity and have been active all during high school and completed 250 hours with Jrotc, I am bilingual, enjoy MMA, and yes I like to need out. I would like to meet new people and find mentors to help me build a great costume so I can participate as a member or which ever comes first! I am all ears2 points

Hello everyone. Been dying to join the 501st for years. Always wanted to be a Stormtrooper since the day I saw Star Wars in the theater in 1977 when I was 4. My first movie in a theater couldn’t have had more of an impression on my life. Ben a huge fan ever since. Never had the time or the ability to make my own armor. Well now I can make the time and with all the people out there making armor, I can finally be one of the coolest and most iconic Sandtroopers to have ever been maliciously mind tricked by that Jedi scum on Tatooine. I have on order from RS Props a commissioned Sandtrooper armor kit and I am looking to do a FO Executioner. The latter won’t be as easy, as I’m finding out. Sourcing the parts seems to be very difficult for that CRL. I always liked helping people and doing charity work. I was a town watch junior member as a kid and a volunteer firefighter as an adult. Giving back to the community has and will always be a wonderful experience for me. I look forward to getting my TD/TK numbers and becoming a member of one of the coolest on organizations in this galaxy.1 point

Aloha FISD, I’ve been a massive fan of Star Wars since I was introduced to the original trilogy as a child. Recently I’ve been very interested in building an accurate set of armor and have found an incredible community here full of information. I’ve also been interested in the 501st as I love how they reach out and do events throughout their communities. I hope one day I’ll be able to assemble an appropriate set of armor to meet their standards. Thank you for your time and I look forward to communicating with fellow enthusiasts and learning from the experts. Mahalo1 point

Slate - (Soon to be TK-####) Swedish Member Alright let's start of with an introduction. Hello! My name is Angus and I'm 17 years old. I was born in Sweden, Gothenburg and it is still my home town. I have been since a kid always had the dream to join the 501st legion as a Stormtrooper. And now that I'm almost old enough to join my local garrison, I think its time for me to chase that dream for real. Ever since that first convention, when I saw those troopers, following the Dark Lord. I told myself that I would be one of them. And that's why I'm here finally on the Whitearmor forum. I hope that I'll be welcomed here, you all seem so nice.1 point

Hi Garrett, welcome again. I personally do not have Dave’s armor but many troopers do. Really looking forward to that build thread. Hey. If you need any help with the plastics. My girlfriend would love to volunteer our time in Hawaii.1 point

I use an Icomm static burst from here http://store.voicebooster.com/icomm-imperial-communication-system/ and Aker 1506 can find on eBay normally https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2540003.m570.l1313&_nkw=aker+1506&_sacat=0, both sit behind the chest then microphone wire runs up yo your head. Some use a wireless add on but I prefer the microphone headset, less to go wrong1 point

Do you think you can make a round version of this which can be made in to a circular patch?1 point

Troopers come in all shapes and sizes, Brandon. I have seen everything from 5'4 to 6' 5, and from 102 to over 250 lbs. We don't judge on size... it all comes down to how the armor fits you personally. From what I've read, George Lucas "preferred" the Troopers be about 5'10 and 165 pounds, but that didn't work out, lol. All that matters is that it meets the Basic requirements as listed in the CRL (link here).1 point

Sniper Knee Question? Before I glue the sniper knee in place how does this position look? I know it will tighten up when clamped. Do I need to trim any?1 point

I can say this, there are already GCO's who are saying this will never be a legion costume, and they will fight it in council. I guess some have forgotten this is a make believe hobby and the simple fact Legion is NOT THE RPF. In saying this, I have not spent any time looking closely at these dark troopers so they may well be rather impossible to replicate as a costume but people are clever and may come up with something plausible. I've seen costumes where the actual game render looks like it could have been a sewn suit yet some have screen printed this and it has passed as a costume. Missing pieces might be the big challenge though considering you cant cut chunks out of your body.1 point

I am thinking the one I want to try is the Heavy Weapons Stormtrooper, is there any rules what new first timers can do? Also I am in college and budgeting is a way of life, I know there is now exact number for a costume but what is about the ball park of suck a costume?1 point

I was fascinated by the serial number mod that T-Jay did with 2mm stamps when I read through his build thread. I measured the area to be numbered and initially planned on using 1/16th steel stamps to mark 12 characters which are a little smaller and would be about 1.5mm. Using a couple pieces of scrap paper I ran a few test runs on spacing and my ability to imprint them in a straight and even fashion. Eventually I figured out I could squeeze 16 characters in the provided space and kept revising the spacing I was allowing myself. I think it's possible using the size stamps I have that all 16 might fit in the space provided but I like the pattern I have. DSG_1_977_SAW_41469. DSG is my Garrison, 1+977 the year ANH was released, SAW is my initials and 41469 my TKID. The number / letter format is not conventional but hey It's the blaster I want right? After I got better at making them straight I decide to just see if I could get my first character over enough and just pressed the stamp to the resin. I was astonished that is made an imprint! So thinking I was onto something I just pressed on so to speak. But then I saw that the neatness and clarity I wanted wasn't there. Next, I drilled out the area with my Dremmel and filled it with the green stuff. I will caution you, a little green stuff goes a very long way. I ended up with way more left over than I needed, even to fix the few little oops I wanted to fix with green stuff. It's not as pretty as I wanted and a little lumpy. If it doesn't sand nice I may redo this.1 point

Quick update for anyone following/interested in this thread. I came across this awesome alternative to the standard plastic convoluted wire tubing: TechFlex F6 Woven Wrap 5/16" 10' Wiring Split Wire Covering https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C1NZLGC Side by side comparison to your standard tubing which I used initially: The neat thing about this is twofold. First it is a woven wrap so it looks much cleaner and the overlap mechanism on it hides wires much more thoroughly. Second, it's much softer than plastic if it presses against your skin. It is also a little bit more flexible so I ended up easily folding it around my inner padding to downplay the wire runs from the switchbox up to the top even more. Here's the updated inside look with that added:1 point
