A brand Newby from Lima, Ohio. Pleased to be here. I signed up and am joining the Ohio Garrison. I mainly want to be a StormTrooper, but I also love the Tie Pilot. So I gotta put a costume together. At any rate I have done alot scatterbrain hobbies. Way too many. From 80s arcade collecting to Drones, Electronics Repair, Astronomy, VR and Flat screen gaming and probably more that I'm just not thinking of. My latest is Cosplay. I've done Star Lord and attempted Kadaj, but trying to pull off a teenage Kadaj requires alot of bishonen. Trying to pull off a teenager at double the age is just Hard, so I didn't want to disgrace the character. As a former US Marine I think I'll fit right in with a Trooper, Tie Pilot just looks cool and probably a lot more affordable entry into the 501st as a Reserve at first. Anyways I think what you all do is really first rate. I been watching Jake up in Alaska on Youtube for a bit and boy they know how to have alot of fun and some very nice people. So I am very intrigued and eager to check this whole scene out. Thanks for having me be a part of it.3 points

Hello troops, first at all, please excuse when I some times use wrong words or so. English is Not my best discipline. The last 20 years since I saw the OT at cinema ( the 90s spezial edition) I think about to build or buy ready an armor for the galactic empire. But it never hapend. Now the last days this thought returns. And I will start to build and buy an armor. My thought is to worke on a ANH stunt version of a trooper. I will try to build a as near as possible to a screen version trooper. But maybe at the end it will be a Hybrid between a screen version and a more practical one. Some times I will wear the armor maybe. But I do not want to troop it very often. It is more a display armor. So for the beginning I ordered a helmet. I decided to buy a HDPE helmet. Now I am very excided and hopefully the helmet will arrive next week or the week after. After completing this helmet I will go on step by step. Thank you all Regards Svante2 points

Dear all, today I join the forum and also bought an HDPE helmet. I wantet to paint one like cable guy :). ( I will try ). And after that I will go on step by step to complete a armor. But now the question. Like I said I ordered a HDPE helmet. I was asked if I want a pure kit or if I want the kit basic assembly. Basic assembly = includes trimming and assembly of all the parts, no painting. Iordered the basic assembly Version because I never build such a project. Now I am a bit affraid that the brow is not in the right position ( Not like the brow on screen and also wrong to my taste ) when the helmet arrives. I do not like it if the brow is to low or to high. Is there a possibility to fix this if the brow is not in right position? I am afraid that there are holes from the screws that destroy the screen look that I streve for. Hopefully my question is clear. English is some times a bit hard for me. :). Thank you all. Hello all, Gmrhodes: Thank you for the build threats. I have allready devoured them some days ago. And when the helmet arrives I will read them again...and again and again :). I also watched some of cableguys videos. TkSpartan: Thank you for your encouraging words. I am a little bit scared about the worke :). But I think this is the right place do get the job done. When the helmet arrive I will send a picture very fast ! I promise Sly: I will do so :). Thank you. Hi Dan ( CableGuy ), a special THANK YOU to you;). I will Start this project because of your threats. Some weeks ago I started to looking around. Like the last years I was at the RS propmaster side and was dreaming. At this Moment I was at my 20 year dream mode ( only for looking around) .... But than there was it. A HDPE helmet.... And I thought. Oh wait....the original helmets were not out of ABS? that is interestig. So I looking around and found this Website ( white amor) . I read a lot... So the HDPE helmet piqued my interest. The Website kindled the fire even more. But then I was about to give up. I was so interested in the HDPE helmet.. but I thought it is a little bit crazy to spend so much money for the RS Helmet..... But then I found your threats about the HDPE Helmet .... and this helmet looks amazing ( paintjob ). And it is a little cheaper. Than I read all your posts.... And after that I decided that I will start this project! Some minutes later I ordered a kit from DA props. One question. If I get started. Should I stay at the replica Forum....or should I go to another forum for posting my progress? ( Not only for the helmet. Also for a armor). Have a nice day ( all of you )2 points

I just peeled of the templates and look now nice thos tears turned out...., traps are easily fixable, but my gods what is that?! The tube stripes did not go well at all. I think I might have used to much white paint beneath the blue. At least this makes the removal of the front 4 stripes easier.2 points

Nice work, great to see you at pre approval. I'm no R1 expert but a couple of things if I may Turn your legs inwards a little at the front, you want the cover strips straight up, centered, especially for the back as they appear on an angle Straighten back plate Bring your foreams up, will give you a bit of room at the hand plates, they appear to be hitting Looks like your left side ammo box has a gap? If you haven't already add some thin foam behind your drop boxes so they don't rub the paint off on your thighs. You could try some foam behind your sniper plate to help hold it away from the thigh Adjust your thigh straps on the sides so the clips can't be seen Tilt your head slightly backwards for the side and back photos Not sure if you can bring in the backplate at all, there is a bit of room there, perhaps shorter shoulder straps You may find you will have to trim the thighs a little more, appear to be touching the butt plate in the rear photo. Looking at the screen cap you could if you wanted too trim in the V or the butt plate a little, to give you more room to move, they appear quite narrow in the rear screen cap. Beautiful build and I'm sure after a few tweaks you won't have any problems getting approval. Good luck2 points

I submitted for Pre-Approval!! Will this work for an action shot? I already found a few fixes: - Adjust the back plate since it's slightly crooked in the pics - Adjust velcro to close greaves better - Raise bells so they're closer at the top - More glue to large ammo boxes, as their opposite sides are peeling up now - More snaps on bell/bicep elastic straps since one bicep popped off - Redo thigh straps since they loosen too easily - Elastic wraps to cover the thigh clips - Side plate foam so black doesn't transfer to the barrel So happy!!!2 points

Hello all, Reaching out as this is typically the first step in any forum format. I look forward to the discussions and research. I really look forward to what each of you can teach me. I recently bought a previously approved Anovos kit from a 501st member. It fits me pretty good and would like to know what needs to be done in order to transfer ownership within this community. I can provide all necessary information and the bill of sale if needed. Good news is the previous owner was pretty close to my build and stature so I do believe the initial fit is almost perfect. There is some minor splitting on the collar which can easily be repaired. Any feedback from this group would be much appreciated.1 point

If you click the "join us" it goes directly to the 501st webpage. If he joins on the forum http://www.centralcaliforniagarrison.com/ccgforum/index.php I'm sure there will be a section for new recruits, generally it's better to introduce via forums rather direct emails command staff1 point

Okay, I shifted the side rivets on the belt over (actually just removed the cap on the existing ones, and then drilled one that could fit under the cover, and the cover would still conceal the previous hole). Looks great, and keeps the sides of the belt even more flush on my sides: I took some time to finish the helmet, I had been waiting to remove the ears one more time, to install one of @ukswrath's SHA environmental systems (the mic goes under the ear bumps on each side), and the speaker system that comes with speaker Hovi tips, an amp, mic, and an iCOM box. I also added a pair of fans, powered off of a thin (but tall) dual USB power pack with two in-line switches that turned out to be larger than they looked. I have a larger head, and there was a LOT to fit in there. But I put a stripe of 2" white fuzzy velcro around the back, and kept re-arranging and moving things until they finally fit. An hour of cord management later, and it all works! Finalizing the arms. I may end up not using the bicep hooks, as they don't quite keep the bicep in the right spot. I will opt for elastic between the bicep and shoulder to keep the ridges lined up. I have longer arms, even for my height. Usually arm span and height are close, but my height is 72.5" (or 184cm), arm span is 75" (190.5cm). This is going to give me larger gaps on the arms somewhere, either at the elbow, or at the wrist. I just glued in the elastic connectors, sort of splitting the difference between the two pics here: I will try it all on again tomorrow, hopefully it was glued as intended, and looks great. I also finished my thermal detonator, and mounted the holster I got from Darman's Props, so the last things are the think white elastic that keeps the shoulder bridges down (mine fit great without though!), gluing the rubber hand plates (pictured above are the plastic for basic approval and fitting), and the whole blaster project (3D printed by Imperial Arms 3D, I have lots of 3D finishing experience) that I need to start. Final stretch, as long as it all works well enough in the fitting tomorrow. I have been getting up at 5:30 am for weeks and weeks to get some shop time around my two young kids, I look forward to sleeping in soon.1 point

Svante, welcome aboard. Let me suggest this for you. Whatever you do, read up on the Costume Reference Library, CRL, to make sure your build is approvable and accurate. When you display it, you will be displaying a beautiful piece. And when you wear it, you will be wearing something you are proud of and looks the way it should. If you have any questions please feel free to message me.1 point

Welcome to FISD. Meanwhile your helmet arrives I would recommend to take a look to the following forum section|: Getting Started Cheers1 point

Love the suiting up video Yes that should work as an action shot, please don't break into a YMCA dance though Great to see you at pre approval, feedback left, good luck with approval, hope to see you will a TKID very soon.1 point

Thanks Andrew! I mostly went off the old CRL so I'll def mention/link it, but I added some from the new CRL (to make Lvl 2 and 3 easier )!1 point
-
Dan just a quick question as I haven't been through every phase of your build in detail, but if you are running off the old version of the CRL, don't forget to inform your GML that we do have a grace period for those who started there build before we updated the CRL to it's current from. If you indeed went for it and built to the new CRL then you don't obviously need to mention it to them. If you need a copy of the old CRL to supply your GLM here is the link to the thread you can direct them to complete with PDF of the old CRL version. Good luck sir, but looking at your build, you wont need it1 point

Well it’s been a while...life’s been super busy but I’m hoping to start having some more time to continue working. I’ve talked to my garrison and they suggested asking Armor Master about some larger thighs since I was having issues with those in particular.1 point
-
Hello and welcome. The height of the brow can be changed depending on how your assemble the helmet, tilting the faceplate forwards or backwards can adjust the brow trim, you can also trim extra material in some cases to adjust the height. Looking forward to seeing your build progress, good luck For reference here's couple of Dan's build threads1 point

Dave is actually going to send me out another. His customer service skills are top notch. He said there was another trooper that is doing a Death Trooper and can use the one I just got, so I’m mailing it back to him.1 point

Cool and thanks. Was thinking I may have needed to 3D print, cut out, etc. This and Inquisitor are my first Armor projects.1 point

Thanks guys, didn't realise there was a separate one for clones. The plan is to do a sandie or shadow trooper one day too, so ill post when i get round to those.1 point

You would probably get more feedback on the clonetrooper forum, we don't know much about clones here.1 point

I'm not sure it would look good at such a small size.1 point

Next up are the magnet covers. I cut out a 5/8” hole as the guide and used a heat gun to heat up the plastic and press the magnet recess. Trimmed them to be 1.25” long and a little over 3/4” wide. I used one of my magnet sachets to make sure each one has the same polarity and using E6000, glued each in and used a magnet underneath to hold in place. These will cure for 3-4 days for max adhesion.1 point
-
Moving on with Cricket’s magnetic calf closures. I made a jig to go in my vise and keep the strip supported while leaving room for the 13 mm step drill bit room to work. It’s 2 pieces of 3/4” wood held together by a strip of abs superglued on. In place of a drill press this worked very well and went quickly.1 point

Tradition holds that persons currently serving on staff cannot be granted Achievement Medals (or else it can become too self-serving). Thus, if you see a staff member with an Achievement Medal, they've all earned them prior to joining staff. To date only two people have ever earned a second medal, and no one has ever earned a third. Award Levels FISD Achievement Award (1st Award) FISD Achievement Award (2nd Award) ... FISD Achievement Award (6th Award) (and so on) The FISD Service Award is granted to recognize the contributions of Command Staff for their commitment to keeping the detachment running. Each award represents a full year of service. Additional awards are denoted by a star (1 Gold Star = 5 Silver Stars, 1 Silver Star = 5 Bronze Stars, etc.). A frame denotes fifteen years of service, with additional stars for further years. It recognizes members who have gone above and beyond in contributing to our 3D forum section. The Silver award can be earned numerous times over the years. The Gold award is given to those that have contributed at such an astounding level that it is deemed appropriate. All awards are given at the discretion of Command Staff. Attaché Outstanding Achievement Award This award is bestowed to those who consistently exemplify the meaning of an Imperial Attaché and have gone above-and-beyond in helping their fellow troopers for at least one full year: For more information and a list of recipients please refer to this thread. FISD Master Armorer The FISD Master Armorer program is an optional, detachment only incentive award to recognize individuals who have directly helped another 501st stormtrooper to achieve Expert Infantry status. Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. Award Levels FISD Armorer (5+ "wins") FISD Senior Armorer (15+ "wins") FISD Master Armorer (25+ "wins") Centurion Badge These are awarded to those who have reached the highest levels of costume approval for FISD. These are awarded only once, to the person, regardless of costumes: Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) These are awarded per costume, thus a person can have more than one EIB award. Stars (like the awards above) indicate multiple awards, and appear above the EI badge (1 Blue Star = 5 Gold Stars, 1 Gold Star = 5 Silver Stars). Award Levels Expert Infantry Badge (1st Award) Expert Infantry Badge (2nd Award) Expert Infantry Badge (3rd Award) Expert Infantry Badge (4th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (5th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (6th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (7th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (8th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (9th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (10th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (11th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (12th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (13th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (14th Award) NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars For more information on the Expert Infantry and Centurion programs, please refer to this thread. EIB and Centurion requirements can be found in the corresponding costume CRLs (as Level 2 and 3), additional information on how to apply is available here for EIB and here for Centurion.1 point
