  3. E6000 does like to ooze, it can be easily removed by rubbing your thumb or a finger against the glue (once dried). Normally large areas of excess glue can just be peeled away once dry. For any hard to get to areas I use strips of ABS plastic and push the glue away. Depending on how much pressure was needed to hold the boxes to the belt will depend on how long to leave the clamps on, normally I will leave for 48 hours. You could also let dry for 24 hours, remove clamps, then apply painters tape around to hold them for the last 24 hours.

  9. Well tired of waiting for post to arrive, yet again the slotted screws are a no show, so I think I'll convert some. Closest we have at local hardware are slotted Phillips Apply some filler Sand and file the slot Add primer Then paint

  10. My issue was the armor and helmet was a mash up from different era's of Star Wars, Rogue One was right before ANH and the armor was completely different. It also used pieces from The Force Awakens, way outside it's era there. Some didn't like the crisper molded details, very different to ANH. It's all about personally preference, many do like the look and we have many being built on the forums right now.

  11. Don’t be too hard on yourself, Chris. It looks good overall. [emoji1303] I’ve seen many a LOT worse cleared for basic and above. I can’t see you having many issues for basic clearance. Check with your local GML before you make too many changes, then look at the changes one by one for higher level approval (and a sleeker look overall). :-) Best wishes Dan

  12. After reviewing all the RS prop masters how to videos, I've actually messed up alot. Like they said "don't follow other tutorials over reference photos" as I've made some errors. Thighs to be replaced. Cover strip on forearms and thighs. I'll get to this in the future, and probably just submit straight to pre-approval. Thanks for all the guidance and comments from all so far.

  13. Very nice. I made my sling, just using nylon webbing and added home made metal clips and plastic adjuster

  16. Wow what an honor again. Thank you so so much for everything, especially the notes. Noted and all of the changes will be made before my submissions. Everything looks super simple and straight forward and thank you and the entire DO team for review and kindness as always. Also, appreciate all of you taking the time to make the notes and suggestions. Appreciate it beyond words. Thank you so much and thank you for this acceptance.

  17. I do like this. I’ve often thought that while I appreciate the quick responses, sometimes I want to see a picture or angle of a photo already on the site. So I’ve turned to YouTube. But be warned YouTube has a lot of crap in it too. I have spent weeks and countless hours now doing research in the forums. There’s A LOT of info here. Perhaps too much to a fault. That being said. My suggestion would be to find a buddy willing to to help (and you’ll find a lot). Someone close to your own garrison preferably. Else pick on a couple of the expert posters. Check out their ancient threads and see their builds. What did the learn? Etc. I’m starting out too yet, I would advise against a closed group of newbies relearning things which can be easily taught or passed down. Few guys I like a lot so far, (in no order, and this is MY personal opinion cause they suit me well), Sly, UKsWrath, Firedog, Cableguy, Justjoseph63, TKSpartan... super super helpful. I think the idea of the zoom and or small newbie group to share as we go along is fantastic!! My add to the suggestion would be to have these kinds of pro leaders to ensure we don’t get too far down the wrong path. I would hate to see anyone devote time and money to prepare for GML photos to only get frustrated or discouraged in the end. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  18. You can also cut the cover strip on an angle across the two halves for comfort so you have no exposed sharp points. that's how I built my AP kit.

  19. Glue drying day = sewing day. I've decided to go with a nylon and elastic combo for the cod / posterior plate strap, because I discovered after fitting the torso pieces and walking around that my cyclist thighs were rubbing on the inside top of my thigh - I'm hoping the elastic will add some flex. There is a little return edge of 1 - 2mm that I can sand away from the cod, but I'm concerned I'll will get constant chafe. Is this a known issue for others with larger thighs? I also crafted the shoulder elastics. Once the snap latest on the inside edge are cured, I'll do another fitting and test shoulder elastic placement so I can work out the final snap position. 21. Heyhey and welcome! I definitely would not say definitively that "RS is the way to go" - they're one of several excellent options, but far from the end of the discussion, especially if you live outside of the UK and plan to troop frequently in your suit. You're definitely paying extra for the name, "lineage", and shipping. As to the ABS vs PVS debate, ABS armor is more accurate to the films and by far the most popular material currently, though it can yellow from UV unlike PVC. If you go RS, there are several threads floating around with info on what changes will be required before approval and higher level submission. ANH-Stunt is also by far the most popular TK variant, but there is something to be said for ESB (mine is growing on me and it's the 40th Anniversary!). You'll need all of your soft goods most likely, so have a look around at the vetted vendors and we can always make suggestions as well. I prefer to get my boots from Imperial Boots, holster and neckseal from Darman's Props, canvas belt from Imperial Issue, and I wear a Nike Pro compression suit with thin running gloves for trooping. They make a resin blaster, but I love my rubber blaster for trooping - check out Praetorian and Hellhounds if interested. Hope that info helps!

  22. RS props use super glue to build their armour ( c.a. Glue) sand the glue areas down with medium sandpaper until smooth and re glue using whatever you prefer . But for speed use super glue .

  23. Hi everyone, sorry its been a while since I last posted anything, but I haven't have much opportunity to work on my kit (real life does get in the way sometimes). Anyway, I managed to progress with the strapping system for my arms: The elastic going around the shoulder bell. Installed the snaps and straps. I measured the placement of the snaps several times in order to get the positioning accurate and even. Following Ukswrath build, the forearms-to-biceps spacing should be 5-7mm. I have made mine 5mm spacing. Overall, I am realy pleased with the function of the snaps and the assembly slowly coming together.

  24. Only initial ideas so far but here are some thoughts. Ideal numbers: 2 experts (one must be staff to chair the chat, can both be staff) Number of New members with questions in the live chat: (4 -6) min/max too many or to few and it gets to difficult or isn't worth the time and effort. Time Frame: based on platform used 45 minutes - 1 hour. Questions: must have your top need to know questions submitted 3 days before the event. limit of 2 questions submitted by each participant. Conversation would drive the rest of the Q and A Time zones: this is the toughest of all and would require the most planning based on country the new members were in and the staff/experts.

  25. I had considered buying one those myself. I had some reservations due to the 3D PRINTING. While it looks awesome , I was concerned about durability during trooping. Do you think it is something that you will have to handle with extra care ? Definitely the less expensive way to go compared to something like a Hyperfirm . Just wondering how much durability is lost.

  26. No problem. Take a look at the getting started section. This post will have the most information:http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?/topic/11538-The-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them Its a lot to digest, but keep asking any questions and we can steer you in the right direction. 27. It is very heavily based on the Rogue One TK, which with a handful of mods could be basic approval once a CRL has been posted. You can see some of mine in my "HOWTO: Make the Black Series More Accurate" thread in the "Rogue One TK" section. I made that with the soul intention of making it to approval standards. Also, CRL is currently in development! But back to the helmet. There will be those who say that it can't be done, or no way even with mods, but it doesn't matter if it's a toy. If it looks the part, you should have no problem getting basic. But I would suggest applying the armor early once the early CRL draft has been made, seeing as they are seeking to truly let people apply with basic, basic costumes until more info has been made.
