I have been stripped of my DMBO title along with my legion membership, without any sort of hearing. I have been blocked from joining our garrison public forum as well as my wife. When The chips were down, I suspected what my GCO would say and he did't let me down! Everything I am doing to bring you your orders is on my stormtrooper honor . I'm still one of you no matter what anyone says.10 points

So I had my first troop on 4/7. It was a 5k event in a neighboring town. I was so nervous I barely slept the night before. Got there early and met some of the Garrison people who were awesome. Original forecast was for snow and rain but all we got was some wind and cold. There were a few other TKs and a TD so I had some good company. After getting geared up, we went out and started walking around and found it amazing to see the magic happen from the other side. Usually I’m the one asking for a pic now it was me getting asked. Had some great interactions with kids and got a few hugs. Even the teens were all about getting pics. As for my armor it held up well. Nothing fell apart but my biceps were falling (fix in progress) and my shins turn (still working on that one). Had to do without the hearing assist after an hour cause the earbud cord kept falling out (still can’t find speakers that work in the helmet without feedback). About the same time the mic got lost so I took the helmet off and readjusted it only to lose it again (think it was the balaclava position). It’s crazy how a kid can run up to you and you don’t even see them, sight line will take getting use to but luckily I didn’t walk on any kids and the whole walking thing takes some getting used to. Also couldn’t get my gun out of the holster (not a deal breaker) just not used to moving with all that on. And of course I ended up with the groin/arm armor bites but not too bad. For a first troop I think it went very well. Next troop is this weekend, 2 weekends in a row! Hopefully the fixes will correct the issue. And lastly I ordered some scout armor for a second costume. Think I’m addicted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk5 points

I kinda' went overboard on my HWT bucket. I based it on the "real" TK helmet, (first pic) and incorporated the fans into the "earpieces" and the batteries into the side compartments. The entire inside is lined in craft foam...I wasn't sure if it would take up too much room, but it worked out well. --------- ----------4 points

Thank you for everything, Wyatt. I am adding this to prevent any further confusion following Wyatt's request for communication via email as opposed to via PMs here at FISD: As a Detachment Staff Member, Wyatt had a significantly larger capacity for private message storage. When his Staff Access was removed, his PM box was automatically substantially over the limit as a member instead of a Staff Member. Naturally, this led to any issues that you may have either experienced, or have seen others post about regarding receiving a message from the system saying that Wyatt was/is unable to receive private messages. Please keep that in mind, and if you have questions or a need to communicate with Wyatt, utilize the email address that he provided above.2 points

That snap won't necessarily be covered by your chest piece, although it might be if you're an especially skinny trooper. You can see that snap on Han's suit below. And here it is on my own suit. This was one of my approval pics. I would try to bend those returns to make them more flush and eliminate that gap. *insert obligatory heat gun warning here.*1 point

Thanks for posting! Also, please stop filing paypal disputes. I promise you will get what you paid for. When you file disputes it makes it hard to ship because my paypal account gets locked. Phasma coins are shipping out today and both attache and classic patches ship tomorrow.1 point

Not much for progress this weekend. Two sick kids really put a damper on everything. Anyway, I’m done my first pass at shaping the eyes and teeth. Not quite there but close. I need to fix one of the teeth. I trimmed too much so I will need to glue a piece of abs to the back and add some abs paste. I struggled with the teeth - the return edges make it tricky to get the width right while keeping the thickness (front to back) looking thin like the original. My attempt at the teeth imperfections. A collection of some of the reference material I’m using. This is a composite image of my faceplate matched to the original helmet (Photoshop). It is hard to make out but it does allow me to see areas I need to fine tune. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Assembled my front chest snaps. This will be where my white elastic from my back plate secures to the chest. First I measured the width of the area on the chest that the snaps will be going and cut a piece of extra material that Walt supplies Than I drilled my holes for my snaps with a 5/32 drill bit and honed them out so the post would go through. I eyeballed dead middle of my squares Using my snap tools I hammered them into place and sanded the backs of the mounts and a bit on the chest to give the E6000 something to grip on to. I placed the mount on the chest and clamped into place.1 point

Please note that there are certain online sellers (including Europe) that are selling FAKE E-6000. The genuine product is clearly marked Made in the USA, and has a batch number on each tube. They do not sell to distributors in China or Hong Kong, so if you try to save a few bucks by ordering from a seller there, it is probably not the real stuff. If you have any doubts, you can contact the manufacturer at www.eclecticproducts.com, and they will let you know where to get it. The fake stuff is absolute garbage.1 point

Got a bit of time last night after SVCC to do some more trimming work on the kit. I realized I'd left too much edge on the flat panel on the inside of the right forearm, so I trimmed that off and also trimmed the left bicep and forearm as well as both shoulder bells. It's been an interesting experience working on a kit I know I'll be repainting later. While I agonized over every little scuff and mark on my OTTK, I freely draw cut lines in black sharpie all over the FOTK. ------------ I will say that my experience with the KB kit so far has been in line with what I've read in other builds, in that the cut lines tend to be a bit ill defined, and the pulls are quite soft. The trapezoid bicep details, for example, are barely there. Also, the indent on the chest is very soft. I was going to try to make the cutout detail in the ABS rather than using the resin insert, but it being as soft as it is, I may not have a choice. Now that he's moved to a new shop with a bigger vacuumformer, perhaps the pulls are sharper. And maybe I'm just getting used to the ridiculousness of the sizing, but I will say that the arm pieces don't look *too* crazy to my eye. --------------- I'm definitely going to have to significantly resize the biceps, but I'm less worried about it now, especially since I remembered that the inside seam is filled, so I don't have to worry about the inside and outside seams being lined up. Lastly, I finally saw a FOTK in person at comic con! I think he was actually visiting from a neighboring garrison and I didn't actually talk to him, but I definitely creeped on him (well his suit anyway) a lot. So if this is you...sorry. ---------- Both Praetorian Guards are from my garrison, and I thought they looked amazing.1 point

Here we go, a pic heavy update of the very first full fitting we did today. So I really didn't know how it would all look as one coherent costume. There are some finishing touches to do; hem the bottom of the cape, add pleats to the inner robe, new boots, finish the reveal mask greeblies and clips joining the two halves, and other little fitting tweaks, but it is otherwise pretty close to finished. It's two weeks until we debut this one at Supanova, so plenty of time to finish those extras. Pics with both the full mask, and reveal mask... Although we were larking about in this last shot (it was the end of our photo shoot!), it shows the undersuit which is a layer of faux leather over fleece wadding, then spandex underneath. It was hell on earth to sew this and is very rough inside...1 point

Just so you know I bought Trooperbays one piece under-suit and it’s nice. Fits well and gives the appearance of a tight fitting under suit with no overlap around the waist. It even has 2 zippers so if you do need to go you can just zip up. With that being said I’ve yet to wear it other than around my house. I’ve only done 1 troop and it was cold so I used my under armor I have for work to keep me warm. After my first troop I’ve realized armor bites, yea I was warned but it’s real now. I worry about wearing the 1 piece and the armor scratching in areas and wearing down the fabric and then yes you’ve got to pay another $100 for a new suit cause that’s what Trooperbay charges. Soooo I’ve gotten a set of separate top and bottom. I still plan on using the 1 piece cause I have it but if I was able to return it I probably would. Hope my long winded thought process helps. You can find the one piece compression suits at Trooperbay, Chad: https://trooperbay.com/star-wars-stormtrooper-sandtrooper-black-undersuit Know that there are 2 schools of thought on undersuits, though. Lots of folks prefer the one piece, but when "nature calls" during a troop you can have it a bit of trouble answering it without removing a lot of armor. Many prefer the 2 piece, which not only makes this a bit easier, but if you damage either the top or bottom, they are easily replaced. You can find those at most sporting goods stores, but the (much) less expensive route is Amazon. Whichever brand you choose just make sure that there are no markings (logos) visible. Hi Johnson, Those pictures are MUCH better. :-) Overall, it looks like a really nice set of armour. As previously suggested, the first thing to amend would be the belt. It should sit just on/just under the ab buttons (it looks like the poppers are already in place for this): The butt and waist area look like they’re probably a little oversized for your frame. You could look to bring in the butt and possibly bring in the waist a little. The thighs could probably go up a little to give some clearance at the knees. With a little tweaking I’m sure you’ll be able to get cleared. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Detachment Leader Provost Marshall Deployment Officer CRL Updates Detachment Affiliation Pre Approval Forum Hall of Fame Just For Laughs In Focus In The Media Challenge Coins Notable Troops Imperial Attaché Program EIB & Centurion: What do these terms mean? Advanced Tactics Awards EIB - The March To 1000 Merchandise Public Relations Follow FISD System Upgrades Forums were upgraded - thanks to our star system admins - without a hitch. However, we are seeing peaks at certain times of the day where the server is over-loaded for our user volumes. The Legion web team will start working on moving FISD to their servers next quarter. This should allow FISD to seamlessly scale up/down based on demand, or so we're told. Also, kudos to Harbinger/Brien for updating all of our icons for groups, awards, etc. so that they are consistent, can scale for use in merchadise, etc. The new images look much nicer for sure, don't you think? First Order News FISD was created to serve the needs for *all* Legion stormtroopers. We (the staff) got feedback that the FOTK troopers were not seeing as much attention as would be expected given their impact on the fan base from the last two movies. In the second half of last year we ensured that all FOTK CRLs were completed and L2/L3 requirements were added and best of build threads were highlighted numerous times. For 2018 we are building on that foundation to show the love for the FOTKs out there. Lots of new merch for instance has been added: 10th Anniversary Path, inclusion in the EI award logo, a brand new FISD FOTK coin and joint OT/FO bin decals. Whew! But, it's worth it as FOTKs are now the second most common TK costume designation, even more than the ESB, ANH-Hero, or HWT. Pretty surprising eh? My take is that the biggest barrier to FOTKs being even more ubiquitous is how hard it is to get suits in volume. Over time the suits should get easier to build as well, which should help new members create these iconic suits. For Phasma, we did update the TFA CRL and have just released a new Captain Phasma coin, however the TLJ CRL is still taking time as getting photos of the parts is a bit behind. If you are anyone you know has a good TLJ Phasma, please liaise with me & Misty, who is currently working on getting this to *done*. For Those Of You That Had Issues At Elections Time OK, it happens each year just before Legion Elections that you can't vote for DL of FISD (or other detachments), you look at your Legion profile and it shows that your detachment affiliation to FISD is pending, or otherwise incorrect. Why does this happen, and what is detachment affiliation anyway, and what will FISD do about it? The answer is that detachment affiliation is only ever used once a year, and for one purpose. The only time the Legion ever uses it for anything is to determine who can run for DL and who can vote in detachment elections. That's it. Otherwise it is pretty much ignored and not used for anything. The process of validating detachment membership is cumbersome and time consuming because people use different email information between their Legion and detachment logins, and that there is no way to bulk update the rosters. For a small detachment it is not a big deal to do this manually, but for a detachment the size of FISD with hundreds and soon thousands of 501st members, it's impossible. Legion web team run a bulk update just before elections each year, there are times that some may have been missed then they would need to be added manually. 1) Ensure the email address you use on the Legion & FISD boards are the exact same. 2) Ensure that your FISD profile has the correct TKID. 3) If after the bulk update is complete and your profile is still not updated, and you are 100% sure your info is in sync between the two boards, then ask for to the Legion web team. They should get feedback on why this isn't working. 4) If all else fails, ping the FISD staff. Which basically means that we'll simply tell the 501st web team to bulk approve everyone To check if you are affiliated to a specific detachment go to the 501st forum, look on the left side menu, click on the Member DB link, then Your Profile Data, go to the bottom of the page to Your Unit Affiliation and make sure First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment (Approved) is there, if it is there and marked as (Pending) you can contact the detachment leader of FISD and ask for it to be approved. If you find it is not there at all or any other detachment you should be affiliated too, then contact your GML (garrison membership liaison) and ask to be affiliated them. NOTE to stay affiliated with a detachment and to qualify to participate in detachment elections you need to have logged into our forums at least once during the previous year. UPDATE As we move FISD to the Legion's servers, this process should be automated and the issues fixed, time will undoubtable tell. The FISD is pleased to announce the addition of a new area in the Advanced Tactics forum dedicated to those ready to submit for basic 501st TK approval. This section will allow future Troopers the opportunity to submit photos of their completed build to be reviewed by the Staff, Imperial Attaches and others in preparation for forwarding it to their GML for approval. Any and all advice/suggestions given will be specific, constructive, helpful and respectful. Please note that this program will NOT take the place of your local GML, as Detachments are not chartered for costume approval and can not override a GMLs decision, but is instead a peer review program designed to help you look your best and offer guidance and positive feedback. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about your completed armor, weapons (if applicable), accessories, etc. and get accurate information from the experts here at the FISD.. the definitive home of TKs worldwide. These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! It also works on giving a better look to the Legion as an entity, and you can bet others will take notice of your hard work. The 501st has a list of detailed requirements for Basic approval, (level 1), EIB, (level 2) and Centurion, (level 3) which can be found here in the Costume Reference Library, (CRL) http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Here are a few of the questions people may be wondering about: 1. "I am a (tall/short/heavy/thin) Trooper. Can I still apply? Of course! These programs are open and encouraged for all sizes of TKs, as long as the costume is correct and meets the guidelines. There are many specific build tutorials to every option, as well as a vast network of fellow TKs on the FISD to help you out and offer suggestions. 2. "How much extra will I have to pay for extra items"? The cost is actually quite reasonable, considering the few extra supplies you will need, which are listed in the requirements area. While it may run you a little more to implement these additions to your costume, they will go a long way to improving accuracy. All needed items can be found for sale on this thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/16-ongoing-sales-project-orders/ While blasters are not required for basic approval, for EIB and Centurion levels they are, and may need upgrades (also listed in the CRL). 3. "I haven't even got my kit yet, is it too early to start planning"? Actually, aiming for Centurion is easiest to do right out of the box. 4. "I have my basic TK approval, can I still get in these programs"? In a word... absolutely! 5. "Are there any "perks" to this extra work and cost"? Besides knowing that you have a great looking set of armor, the 501st and FISD believes you should be deservedly recognized for your achievement(s), and allows you to wear the appropriate embroidered "rocker" badge of rank (available for a very minimum cost) on your shirt, helmet bag, etc., as well as rank decals to put on your armor bin. You will also have access to select "challenge coin" runs, receive (free) a cool certificate for your new rank, and have your title posted below your name in your FISD signature. Plus, once you reach these levels, you will have the extra knowledge to help out those who are looking to apply as well. 6. "Is it hard to apply, and what happens then"? After basic approval, all you do is make sure your armor is up to the standards set forth in the CRL, post a thread with the required photos in the appropriate area (see below), and wait a bit for the D.O.s (Deployment Officers) to address it. (Hint: Studying other people's threads before you submit can be a GREAT help). These are also listed on the main page of the FISD site. While waiting for approval, you will get some comments from others who will offer suggestions and constructive advice to help you out. If you should need any changes, the DOs will let you know, so you can adjust accordingly. Don't be dismayed if you do need changes... it's all for your benefit! After you are approved for EIB, then you can submit for Centurion. EIB https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/ Centurion https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/ Note: You will see some suggestions in the existing submissions/approval requests that, while not actually part of the CRL, are highly suggested items, (for your benefit), such as "flat-head screw heads on the TD (thermal detonator) should be painted black" for Centurion, etc. Those small details all add up to closer screen accuracy. Just remember that the FISD is here to help you every step of the way with whatever other questions you may have, but if you can't seem to find what you are looking for in your research, just post the question, (or PM justjoseph63) and best of luck on your build! Here is a brief description of EIB as written by Paul (Daetrin), our founder: "Expert Infantryman status is not required for members of this detachment. It should be viewed as an optional set of requirements for those who wish to take the accuracy of their costumes to the next level, and be recognized accordingly. We're a costuming club - think of it as an award for costuming excellence and you get the picture. The requirements will not replace or supersede 501st standards, but only serve as an inspiration for the level of accuracy that can be achieved. The standards are meant to be high but achievable..." Besides the added pride you will have in your armor, those reaching this level can purchase exclusive EIB gear (patches, decals, coins etc.) and get a free certificate for your accomplishment. If you are interested or would like more information about the program head here that will help.
