Hi Here is another small update. Hard trying to get the time to have a good run at this. Anyone who has assembled this armour will know how much work is involved. Got time off booked from work to give me a good 10 days or so to break the back of this build Happy start for this update as my gaskets arrives from Teresa (Geeky Pink). I have to say right out that I have never received anything that has had such care and personal touch put into it, and that's before I unwrapped it to find fantasic craftwomanship in every part of my order. It all fits like a glove. Now I can start sizing the armour to fit better. Sweet delivery by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Best packaging ever by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Baskets, harness and neck seal by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Now that's out the way onto the build. More filling and sanding. Luckily I'm not finding very many places that need filler. Filled where I have found so far and once the filler dries sanding back to 800 grit. Couple more small cracks found when doing initial sanding so repaired them with fibreglass repair tissue and resin. Had some left over resin mixed up so painted it onto the inside of my replacement chest piece. After it dried it has strengthened the chest without stiffening it much and has made me consider doing it to the whole armour. Thoughts? Has anyone else done this? I'm not going to post lots of pictures of filled and sanded armour. We all know what it looks like In saying that, here is the helmet only because I filed out the tube vents and eyes. Do the eyes look OK or do I need to take them into the middle a bit more? Vents filed out by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Eyes trimmed out by brian.mcdavid, on Flickr Going to keep at this every time I get a chancebut I've come to the conclusion that I am not going to be able to paint this myself. I even bought a tent as suggested by Daniel (Ensi) but the way the weather is turning in Scotland it is not an option. I even tried putting the tent up in my garage but the fumes going through the rest of the house were pretty mean. Struggling to find a paint I was happy with too. Tried a couple of different types/brands but nothing I was happy with. Probably just the conditions that spoiled it for getting the finish I wanted. Tomorrow I am going to visit a local bodyshop to see if they can do it. The guy on the phone laughed when I told him what I wanted painted and asked if they actually made stormtrooper armour in my size!!!!! Lets see how it goes in the morning Started sanding and painting the parts of the F11d when I found a quiet ten minutes during nightshift last week. Bonus Thanks for looking Brian1 point

It has been a very good day today.... I popped over to RS Prop Masters to get some very nice new white leather TK boots.... the size 7 were too big, size 6 a tad snug..., but I know from my bike leathers that leather does stretch so I plumped for the 6 The guys at RS we’re great, I spent almost all morning talking to Rob about my build... this is Rob And the guys working hard on imperial business I told rob about my button mishap Yes I over trimmed it, but Rob very kindly provided me with a replacement set ... for free I also told Rob about a few problems I’m having ... in the chest and right thigh.... he suggested I realign the right thigh.... which I’ve now done.. I pulled it apart Realigned it and stuck it back together I told rob that my chest piece was sticking out I do have a broad chest and narrow waist.... Rob suggested that the elastic could be pulling it out of shape....?he suggested I remove the brackets and see how it sits when hanging free..... I’ve removed the brackets and will check it’s fit tomorrow I also fitted the holster today As I say... it’s been a good day today, Rob at RS has been so helpful and encouraging today, the guys even made me a brew.... well I was a tad cold as I went on the bike and it was only 3 degrees this morning.... still I had a good ride..... I’m so pleased I went with the RS armour.... it’s amazing and Rob, Si and the guys really do have a limitless amount of pride in the costumes that make.... amazing Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Thanks Tony! That's awesome to hear I've already started with the abdomen and chestplate. There is some slack in the strapping due to wear and tear, so I have tightened the chest straps and made the chest overlap more. The ab and kidney also aligns better, but I'm not 100 % happy yet. More work is needed. I will also look into your other suggestions. Not sure about the thighs, though. They have somehow shrunk since building them. I'm not sure how -- it is definitely not related to cake each Friday at work -- but they don't fit me as well as they used to.1 point

I know this really isn't a build thread, as I worked on this a while ago. It is an AM 2.0 kit. Looking for opinions Thanks! Did the majority of the work on my build in the winter and spring, but only recently have had an opportunity to put everything on and get some pics taken. What do you think? I realized after that my left strap somehow got tucked under the back and the neck seal came untucked, will need to retake some pics.1 point

I am a type-1 pumper and use the Medtronic pump. I’ve got an elastic strap with a pouch that wraps around my chest under the armor. Works well for me.1 point

As much as I love my Anovos TK, I wouldn’t order one a second time. Their delivery time is way too long and if you need replacement parts I assume that you will never get any. But If you can get an unmade kit from someone else for a good price it's definitely an option. Cheers Christian1 point

This is looking very promising! You can definitely do this before the premiere. I want to see many pictures!1 point

Really depends how big your vac from machine is, how many pieces you can fit in that area at one time, how thick the sheet is, how far it has to pull down, what thickness you require once formed, so many variants.1 point

For the FREE & LOCK letters, not having any access to alphabet pasta, I was lucky enough to find someone with a Dymo embossing labeler. I had a strip printed out with FREE & LOCK several times, and using an exacto knife, very carefully cut the letters out. Good thing I had printed out the words several times, as I dropped the C when I was peeling off the backing to it! I can't see me crawling around on the floor looking for a teeny little letter! Ugh!! As it is, neither the C or the K would stick, so I had to dab them with glue. I'm going to prime, clear coat and then spray paint the plate before glueing the plate to the inside of the handle, to help hold the letters in place better.1 point

Actually this is not entirely correct. These awards are recognitions in costume achievement. Once you have them, you have them. Also, EI is costume specific, Centurion is not. Thus if you get your EI on your ANH TK, then submit for an ROTJ TK, the ROTJ will be a separate submission as it is a separate award. However if you got Centurion on your ANH TK, then since there is only one Centurion awarded, you need not submit your ROTJ as there is nothing to award you. Well, you can but you will not get a "second Centurion award", all you get is an independent assessment that the suit met Centurion standards. On the other hand if you got your EI on your old ANH suit, and now have a new ANH suit, you are *not* required to resubmit that suit for EI, since you already have an ANH EI award. You can submit directly for Centurion (presuming you don't already have a Centurion). Remember it is the person who gets the award, not the suit! Lastly, people can do and use the same post for EI and Centurion - they just copy their submission to a new topic once the EI is awarded. No issue there. Hope that clarifies things, if not lmk.1 point

There are many Troopers with multiple EIB and Centurion awards. If they could simply bypass EIB and go for Centurion because they'd already been awarded EIB one time, there would not be people with multiple EIB awards. I don't believe that this omission (not directly stating that it must be the same armor) is meant to serve as a loophole to support submitting a new armor directly for Centurion approval. I don't support using it as a loophole either. A new costume must be submitted for and approved as EIB prior to submission for Centurion, as the award is indeed tied to the costume being worn by that individual and hence, it isn't transferable and - as previously stated - can be awarded multiple times to an individual.1 point
