  1. I've got nothing to add about going for basic clearance. Some different garrisons have different expectations for basic clearance, so it's difficult to know what they'll ask for. I can't imagine there's much that should cause a problem though If your head is already at the top of your helmet, then it's going to be very difficult to get it any lower! Body shape and dimensions is always taken into account, and of course its going to look different to a degree on everyone. At 6'4" I'm a little tall for a stormtrooper , and some of the gaps in my armour are larger because of this. Shoulder Bridge elastic. When I'm dressing myself alone I can never get that elastic to stay put, it's one reason it's good to have other costumers or handlers around when getting ready. I believe some people put a spot of glue on the inside to keep the elastic loop in place, but having help always makes it easier. My gut feeling with your thighs is to leave the right thigh and just lower your left, as long as its still comfortable to do that. Having said that, you may find tweaking both gives the best result. It's sometimes a bit of trial and error to get the elastics right. So, the elastic from butt to cod, is it very loose even when connected up? If so then it could well be worth fitting another snap popper to the elastic to make it a little tighter. (Without going back to look at earlier pics, is the elastic permanently fixed by rivet at the cod, and then a pop fastener at the butt?). Alternatively, you could try heating the butt to mould it into more of a curve, but be carefully to not overheat it ruin the plastic. Check the elastic first. Shouldn't be an issue at basic, so maybe get that done before attempting it. Mobility cuts. If you're uncomfortable bending your legs then yeah, mobility cuts sounds like the way to go. Read thoroughly the advanced tactics requirements though, and refer to lots of reference pics. The mobility cut mustn't go passed the raised areas or its a problem at level 2 and 3. The way you're approaching this you're going to be really well set for the higher levels, so I'll be expecting application straight after getting basic Rich
  2. Hi Jeff, Are you planning on a stunt or hero build?
  3. Hi Jeff, Really good to have you here. Great to see that you've been doing your research here before ordering. I bet you can't wait for those boxes to start arriving. If you haven't already, have a look in the advanced tactics folder at the expert infantry and centurion programs. Its entirely your choice if you wish to pursue these higher levels of accuracy, but its good to build with these in mind from the start, rather than make changes further down the line. There's a lot of satisfaction to knowing your armour is the best it can be, but whatever level you want to build to there's lots of info, support and encouragement here. Looking forward to seeing your build progress. Rich
  4. Awesome work. I think you're right, depending on your local garrison you're either ready or very minor changes. My comments below aren't stuff that I 'think' you need for basic clearance, but much you'll need to consider at higher levels. I agree that the left thigh could come down a bit. You want them at the same level, and the fact that the left is catching the back of your butt plate doesn't look ideal as well as maybe causing armour pinch. With all armour parts you want to aim for symmetry between gaps on the left and right pretty much all over. Again, yes. You're very good at being critical here and picking up the small issues. You are ideally wanting the same gap at the elbow as you have at the wrist when your arms are relaxed, so yes, the forearms could stand to be dropped a little lower. You'll also maybe find it easier to bend your arms (say for putting on your helmet). Not sure what you mean here. Do you mean the elastic that runs from chest to back, from the shoulder bell to bridge, or the elastic that holds your shoulder bridge down? Do you have a piece of elastic running from the butt plate to the cod at the front? If that was on and tight enough (but not too tight) it should pull the bottom of the butt plate up to where it should be. Either one is a possibility, and it depends on if you find the armour uncomfortable without the mobility cuts. There are many on screen examples with mobility cuts, and it will not stop you at the higher levels. I have them on the thighs and shins on my level 3 armour. Shouldn't be an issue for basic clearance, but comfort is an issue at all levels! Looks much better. Left side 'may' be an issue at higher levels as the kidney rivets are partially covered, not sure. Would need a DO or similar to comment. To me it looks like your helmet is still sitting too high, and would look more accurate lower. I had to remove all padding from directly above my head, and I just have a little around my forehead and temples to stop the helmet from wobbling. The top of my head touches the bare plastic. Good luck with your basic clearance. You have outstanding looking armour, and you should be very proud of your work. Rich
  5. Yes. It sets like a very flexible clear rubber, and you only need to apply a very thin coating. I've been playing with the parts of the belt I've already treated, and definitely isn't going to crack as it is. I guess it could go hard as it ages, but only time will tell. Also, it hasn't currently discoloured the white canvas. Again, this could change as it get older. I'll try and remember to post updates to show how it's holding up in the coming months.
  6. Hi Ed, Welcome to the forum. Good to have you here. Whatever stormtrooper type you decide on there's plenty of info and advice in the threads, and lots of other TKs who will want to help. As for the ESB TK, absolutely it's approveable; it's my current outfit. You can find the CRL (details needing for building) here: https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_esb Your basic clearance is handled by your local garrison, but there are further levels you can work towards for greater accuracy if you wish, and it's so much easier to have those in mind from the start. Those further levels are handled here, with details in the advanced tactics folder. They are known as Expert Infantry (level 2) and Centurion (level 3). If you have any questions about any part of your build please ask. Looking forward to seeing your build Rich
  7. I have a tk based on the kit from RWA. All great but the canvas belt frays a lot at the edges. I've just tried this stuff (from Dunelm, UK) and, touch wood, it seems to have sorted it without discolouring or otherwise negatively affecting the canvas Here's some pics of front and back of the belt. One edge is treated, the other not. I didn't trim loose ends before applying and smoothing the 'glue'. It's comes out of the tube like white latex glue, but dries rubbery and clear. I applied a thin coat across the edge and on the back side, but none on the face (just in case), then smooth and flattened with my fingers as it started to dry.
  8. Looking forward to seeing your pics. Thanks for this
  9. No worries for how long it takes to reply. We all have stuff going on outside of this. All good Someone with more experience of anovos armor may well chip in here, but while we're waiting on that... Could you take some measurements and post them here, to make sure you don't have some components that are smaller than adult size (just a sanity check). Imagine a straight line running down your spine (all the way under your butt), and measure the back, kidney and butt dimensions along that line. Pretty sure someone else here will also have anovos armor so can compare the measurements. You never know, and it's good to be sure first before looking at other options. Rich
  10. Great progress! Looking forward to more posts
  11. Cool will do. I remember he said in one video that the new v5 software could do more stuff, but like I said, terrible memory! Will post here what he says for everyone's benefit
  12. Is chatter a specific setting (like having something constantly running in the back ground)? If yes, that wasn't what I was planning. I was thinking to have a handful of very short (.5 to 1 second) individual samples that I would trigger one at a time to play once. I think from the TRamp instruction video you can have a play list that you step through (could easily be wrong, I have a terrible memory). Does any of that sound right / make sense, and would it still disable the static bursts?
  13. I'd heard that it was possible to wear it around your neck, but hadn't seen any pics. Thanks Dan. I've already ordered mine with the remote switches (doh), but kinda have an idea how I'll use it. Was thinking of having some TK chatter where you can't make out whats being said. A few different different versions, so its not obvious I'm just playing the same thing everytime. If I need to move on from someone that's being really chatty I could play it and pretend I'm being ordered to somewhere else. Other thing I was thinking was to have various craft sounds (tie fighter, millennium falcon, speeder bike, etc) play it and look around and say stuff like, oh, you just missed it. This may not work out of course, and as the others have said I may never use it. 'All the gear and no idea' maybe
  14. 17 down 7 to go Bit of a jump from last time. What's that in the sky? Is it a bird? Is it a plane?
  15. Opinions after using my Bluetooth setup for a while around the house... No pairing or connection issues. Microphones (ive positioned behind the ears) pick up the signal from the Bluetooth transmitter if its too close; to a lesser extent so do the mic wires. You hear this as a kind of data interference. Making sure the Bluetooth transmitter is away from the mics and cables removes all but the occasional barely audible burst. In a quiet house you can hear the burst, but on a troop I don't think you'd hear it. For me putting the Bluetooth transmitter between the hovi tips works best, but depending on your setup and wiring you'd have to experiment. Once I moved the Bluetooth transmitter the audio is clear. I'm also running a fan system (Troopacoola with remote control) from a separate Anker USB powerbank, and have no noticeable interference or problems with that.
  16. Remaining battery life and approximate distance to changing room / toilet
  17. One of the most fun builds to follow. Great work and ingenuity, and awesome to see it being used
  18. Hi Cley, I'm only a year behind in adding my welcome, but better late than never! And just in time for your BBB. Looking forward to seeing your build
  19. Can't help with the circuit issues, but very impressed with your work. Takes helmet geek-ery to a whole new level. Now, if you could just implement a working HUD into the lenses that would be great!
  20. Great armour Joe. Welcome to the forum
  21. Looking great Georgia! Good luck with your submission [emoji106]
  22. Bluetooth transmitter turned up today. Works perfectly. Far better than having wires to deal with when putting my helmet on. 24. Cool. Can definitely see the appeal in a solution that stays in the bucket. Much less messing around when getting ready. I'll let you know how the wireless works out in case you need to go that route, and I'll be following to see if you find a helmet speaker solution that works well [emoji106]
  25. If you're open to ANH or ESB then you may have more options. I needed bigger armour and RWA has a XL options in all parts. If you look at their YouTube channel they have some videos showing sizes of some of the parts. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt_lWzaSmADNiCC8TkZyfwg There are other armour suppliers that can make different sizes, such as RS Propmasters, but I've not used those myself. Here's a thread that looks at some other suppliers https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/12693-which-armor-is-better-for-a-bigger-trooper-read-here/
