  1. Very strange. FWIW my plates were pre-bent and that didn't seem to make much difference, perhaps the extra plate and glue causes some expansion/contraction issues leading to deformation? My working theory based on your latest post, at least...
  2. I went ahead and started a new thread for this now that it's spilling into multiple build threads:
  3. All, I started a new thread on the topic here:
  4. Seems this would do best as its own topic so as not to derail various build threads: (I've quoted most of the relevant posts for posterity and context.)
  5. The 'correct' pipe is 2" (actually 60.3mm) UK-spec ABS pipe, which is gray. You can find something similar in the US but it will most likely be black... so you have the choice to import or paint. Testors 1138 is a good match.
  6. Mine does in fact have warping, but I'm like 90% sure it developed slowly as they weren't there before: The bumps are in pretty much every spot I have a snap plate - some have glue on the metal, some don't, some are recessed more than others, so I don't think those variables affect the outcome much.
  7. Not sure what you mean? Like an in-person inspection?
  8. ā€œHey, anyone remember that whiny slave kid from Wattoā€™s junkyard?ā€
  9. Every troop Iā€™ve been to its usually handlers or other troopers helping me in/out of armor, FWIW.
  10. I put a 1/4ā€ strip of white felt in the front. Seems to help a little.
  11. Thanks for taking the initiative, I was going to put something together. Now I donā€™t have to. Iā€™ll likely still have some tips to add myself. I assume technician = handler? I suppose what we call them is a regional thing.
  12. Pros/Cons, the capped is more durable but harder to repair (no ABS paste option to fill in gaps/oopsies when building), should be more resistant to yellowing, but less flexible and harder to cut/drill. Also shinier/whiter as Steve mentioned.
  13. The DOs have a backlog from the holiday break, they'll be with you in due time. You haven't been forgotten.
  14. Nope, this is film accurate, nothing to worry about:
  15. Congratulations. Look forward to your EI and Centurion applications (hopefully)!
  16. The canister (assume you have end caps and control panel) is just gray sewer pipe. The clips can be bought right here on the forum:
  17. #4 Kids Kottage - Reno, NV Troopers TK-8776 TB-10620 TI-12994 BH-14311 TK-75528 TK-92802 Report We trooped the Kids Kottage (with R2 in tow) right before Christmas. The Kids Kottage is an emergency shelter for children needing somewhere to stay atter being removed from thier homes for abuse/neglect/other bad stuff. Nothing puts a smile on their faces more than seeing a bunch of 'bad guys doing good'. We took photos, (attempted) to play some basketball, and handed out swag. Great way to wrap up the year.
  18. Just now getting a chance to document some of these, some of these photos aren't new but the rest is playing catch up... #2 TLJ Premiere - Sparks, NV Troopers TB-10620 TI-12994 BH-14311 TD-50150 TK-52689 TK-75528 TS-89512 TK-92802 Photos
  19. That would be a great thread, I'll put that in my idea book (TM). Re: shins, I had the same problem. Some people make stirrups, I ended up using velcro ties to keep the shin/boots where I wanted them.
  20. Hit up your local Garrison would be my recommendation.
  21. Nope, those forums are only for people who are already members. Some guy in Malaysia selling a pair, you are better off getting a pair from ImperialBoots or TKBoots (IF they still have your size in stock, email them to check).
  22. No problems with stairs with your thighs going all the way to the cod?
  23. Hey Dana, are those PLA snap plates? I used ABS for my snap plates and (knock on wood, I'll check when I get home) I see no deformation on my armor where I installed plates and I too used Tandy snaps, which makes me wonder if it's a reaction to the plastic, not the snaps.
  24. What are you looking for? Extreme film accuracy, durability, metal/rubber/etc? Lots of options (albiet less than ANH).
