Hello Matt and welcome to the detachment. I would start your research here: For the most part armor is sold as a kit, you will have to build it to fit you and then seek out 501st approval.

You have the benefit of having done one of the same kit, so in theory you can just use that for your measurements (assuming you are happy with the fit).

Yeah, Velcro on the front stopped the entire shin from rotating/riding up the boot, but whenever I needed to go up or down stairs the boots would flex and the rear portion would pop out and go over the shin (leading to plastic grinding against my ankle, oh so fun).

The more I troop in this armor, the more I find I want to tweak/fix. Today's menu is my boots, which like to pop out of my shins. I removed the velcro I'd previously glued to the front and made some new velcro tabs for the front, and leather tabs for the back: These will be used in conjunction with some Velcro tie-downs I bought off Amazon (these ones, for those interested) so I can cinch the boots tight to my ankles: Preliminary tests seem positive, but I'll find out in about two hours (last troop of 2017!).

Those Hasbro blasters aren’t accurate, but they’re a great starter/placeholder blaster!

I found it helped to pick up some hobby cotton swabs (like these: https://www.tamiyausa.com/items/paints-finishes-60/tamiya-maintenance-material-62000/craft-cotton-swab-87105). You can use them with some rubbing alcohol (the higher strength, 90% I think?) to clean up/remove the overspray (which the DOs will ask you to do for Centurion) as well as any painting mistakes.
