  1. Hi John, catching up on your thread. For the raised part in the front, I'm not sure what is the best advice. You could sand and then polish but the armour will never shine quite the same if you do. You could leave it and very few people would ever notice. Your shoulder bridge elastics are in the right spot. They slide out of the groove of the shoulder bridge or does your whole shoulder bridge move forward and back and then the elastic slips off the back plate while sitting in the same groove?
  2. Looks like an easy pass for basic to me as well! Well done!
  3. I asked the same thing over in @Ruthar's thread, pinned in the build section. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/42295-ruthars-first-order-stormtrooper-build/?page=5
  4. Don't have one handy, unfortunately. It was just snap plates on the yoke, snap plates on the chest plate, then one strap per side attaching them together. Getting the second one attached can be a little difficult but once it's secured, it's not going anywhere. I originally tried elastic webbing but ultimately needed the rigidity of nylon straps.
  5. I ended up using nylon straps and snaps at where the chest plate and yoke meet at the top to keep them together. Velcro was not making enough contact.
  6. Most of this build is similar to a standard FOTK, so definitely take a peek over there. Ruthar made a pretty complete build thread with a KB kit, which I used to help guide me through a FOTI build. Good luck!
  7. Hi Chris, I don't think anything will hold you up for approval but here are some suggestions: Your right shin shows the front cover strip not reaching all the way to the top. This is covered on the left one by the sniper plate, but ideally, you could redo the cover strip on the front. I would suggest making the black outlines of the painted sections of your helmet a little thicker. Yours seem a bit thinner than most. It looks like this is fine in the cheeks, but the traps and the earss could use a second pass of black. You could also add the rank bar on the ear (Centurion detail, but easy to add while you're painting anyway) Your mic tips are pointing in slightly different directions. A little pull is probably sufficient to tweak this. Your canvas belt looks a little wider than what we usually see, but I am assuming it's no wider than 3.25" as per the CRL. Assuming this is the case, it will not be a problem for basic, but if you elect to apply for EIB/Centurion, it may be asked that you replace this. Good luck with your application!
  8. Hi Mark, good luck with your build! Just want to mention that if you follow the red line you drew, the ends will probably be visible even with the chest plate on. The shape of this yoke is screen accurate and ideally should not be modified. It's normal to be unable to have full mobility in this costume, though of course, some make modifications to get a bit better range, but except some limitations.
  9. Welcome and congrats on your BBB day!
  10. Yeap, looks like an easy approval to me!
  11. Good luck with your build! Yes, definitely try it on with gaskets as that will definitely affect the fit.
  12. Very odd. If you have FB, I would post up on the JRS Social Group and see if someone there might be able to help you.
  13. Correct. FWIW, I'm not sure you really need to bring your back plate up. I think if anything, it looks like a lot of blakc space between the top of the back plate and your helmet because you may have a longer neck than average and your helmet may be tilted towards the front.
  14. What do you mean by no luck? You're having trouble registering for an account?
  15. You can post about other 501st costumes here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/99-other-501st-costumes/ Or at the JRS, of course! https://www.jrs501st.com/forums/
  16. Sorry for not giving feedback here for a while - have not been as active as usual here. Based on the photos, it does look like you have space in your biceps (at least at the bottom - hard to tell how tight they are at the top). If that assumption is correct, I believe you have made them a bit too big and you should resize these down. For the shoulder straps, if you simply remove the flashing and leave the big bump, that's probably sufficient. Hard to see in your photos, but make sure that the cover strips on the back of the shins don't go over the ridge, they should stop right under it. I would suggest trimming your butt plate so that the shape is more like what is seen on screen overall. That corner might poke you! Would also echo the suggestion to lightly reshape the butt plate in a little on the sides. Recommend a hot water bath over a heat gun - much safer. Using snaps or velcro will keep your belt in place in the front - it should sit horizontally and ideally covers/touches the bottom of the large button plate. I would personally trim the back plate "wings" a bit. They seem longer than what is screen accurate. For some great reference, be sure to check out the FISD gallery here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/gallery/
  17. Good luck! You will probably get more feedback if you post your images directly in your thread instead of just the link. Looks like you're on the right track so far!
  18. Hello and welcome to the FISD! Good luck with the 3D modelling! Looks like a lot of work, that's for sure. Also, check out the gallery here for some reference from screen used costumes and props.
  19. Just want to point out that the SE-44c image is showing an F-11D right now.
