  1. To get the glue off I let it dry then rubbed it off, with either a finger or an off cut of the abs depending how much and how sore my finger was.
  2. Not sure how I missed this but glad I've found it now! Really nice build so far! I started working on a pipe build first but using PVC which failed. More recently I started a fusion project just like this but quickly realised a hand drill wasn't going to cut it for this project. I'll be watching this with interest as I do want to start it again at some point! Would be excellent if you could share some of the accurate dimensions of the templates are off. I have a doopy doo but I'm not sure how accurate the castings will be for some stuff.
  3. Seems like a lot of money, I probably paid around half that for all the items and I have elastics and snaps to spare.
  4. The 501st isn't a replica club, it's a costuming club. With this in mind sometimes accurate isn't as important as uniform. These days that #14 blue is what people are looking for and deviating from that might just give you a headache come clearance. Not saying the colours are 100% right, just what's currently the going choices. The exact paint used isn't known but there's been various changes over the last couple of decades as to what we use, a quick search should find 2 different diagrams like the one I did above with different blues on than what I have.
  5. Hi, I'm on my phone so I can't see if you've filled in where you are but are you in the UK? Just that listing is in the uk. If so I'll be able to point you to some vendors that will see you right.
  6. Nicely done Doug, the more I see these CfO ROTJ the more they grown on me.
  7. That looks realy really nice!
  8. You did a good job on the grey but I think the black lines look a bit messy on all bar the first image. Maybe use a thinner, but longer, brush. The thin keeps the line width down and a longer bristle will hold more paint between reloads so you can get more of a stroke.
  9. Good luck chap, though I should hope this ones a formality this time!
  10. Great work as always, nice to see my bit linked too as well!
  11. Was the it the pink nail polish remover? They dye may have dyed the helmet. I'd be trying Isopropanol, White spirit/mineral spirits or Humbrol enamel thinners. I used these to remove the Anovos paint and decals on my helmet but test on some scrap first. For what it's worth I think a full hand paint job looks nicer than the factory job.
  12. I went back to the images I took before I posted and you have really done an excellent job on it. The armour is a complete mess of damage, I'm guessing due to hard use on set rather than deliberate weathering. I suspect the armour was far more like the helmet at the start of filming but where they used black materials the on set damage just adds to the end result we saw at CE. I'll soon be doing a 3D printed helmet (which I hope to cast) so I'll certainly be following your updated tips.
  13. Are the changes somewhere public? If people already know they will miss the deadline then they may as well work to the updated CRL.
  14. I think this looks great. The helmet at CE were more dirty than damaged and I think you've done a great job to get the look.
  15. I'm fully aware who Andrew Answorth is, and I stand by my original statement. Also worth stating SDS is not the same as TK Armour as was being discussed on this thread previously.
  16. Andrew did not create anything. He vac formed the sculpts by Liz Moore (Helemet) and Brian Muir (armour). General advice is to look elsewhere from SDS (Sheperton Design Studios is the general name people use for this armour).
  17. No, you need an adapter or a mic with a TRRS connection like the Rode Smart mic, which would then stop you being able to use the audio output I believe.
  18. The iPhone is specific about detecting the mic when using a cable adapter to split the mic and headphone signals. So far one 2 I know of have been proven reliable, the Conversor one here is one of them. This specific adaptor expects a sterio input, not sure why but it does. With a mono mic you NEED to use a simple inexpensive adapter to convert from mono to stero and it will suddenly start working all else being equal and the mic being appropriate. The application actually displays an icon top left to show which mic is in used after you press start proccessing. If the picture is a phone then it's the phone not seeing the external mic, the app poles all available inputs before selecting that image.
  19. Looking at the photo this would be my first suggestion. The extension might well do it, if it's a mono-> stereo cable.
  20. If you're considering TKVoice please make sure you read the hardware section on my website: http://www.cpearson.me.uk/tkvoice/ If you have any questions let me know.
  21. Good luck Ricky, good to see some more UKG going for EIB!
  22. Is it worth exploring a new provider if the cost increase is that significant? I'm fully aware of how non trivial this would be but with the renewed growth it may be worth considering.
  23. Money is always an issue, and something more affordable is sometimes fine. This may well be that case. But you say you want to clear it, maybe even in a hurry. I am aware of this being cleared by 2-3 garrisons, but none in Northern America. It may well clear with your garrison, my best advice would to be request some up to date images from the seller (or maybe look on their Facebook, think there's some there) and send these to your GML for advice on if they will clear. If time might be problem it might also be worth enquiring on lead times now. Fit will as always, be down to you. I hope you can get something sorted for your friend.
