Helmet fans
themaninthesuitcase replied to Richard_UK's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
They'll work but it's not the cheapest or smallest way to do it. Might be worth mocking up sizes too to test fit before ordering. I say this as I know head size and bucket space varies a lot, what 1 person can fit another won't. My set up is 2 cage fans, I think 40x20 but I have some 50x15s that would fit just as well. These are wired through a small switch each to a single USB and a 2300mAh lipstick style USB battery. Works great and lasts all day, but importantly is small as I have a massive head! -
I would avoid that one. Whilst most things could probably be fixed the cost and effort would make it significantly less work and cheaper to just buy a kit from one of the many well known makers. Even with updates and fixes this wouldn't be up to the standard most current armour could achieve from the box. Have a look in the vetted sellers list in the getting started area (https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/38-getting-started-read-this-first/) as well as the build threads for an idea of what kits are available.

Using Dropbox instead of Photobucket
themaninthesuitcase replied to MechaPumpkin's topic in Forum Help & Support
I use dropbox for some images, when I looked into how to do it I recall reading about how it's not ideal to do it too much as it's against their terms. -
Yup, the team is aware and they are working on it. It will be ready when it's done.

Broken images from photobucket
themaninthesuitcase replied to Locitus's topic in Forum Help & Support
I don't think this is the last service to want to start charging, though I'd wager the next will be a lot more organised in how they go about it. -
A much better solution

Shift and Return will give you a line break vs a new paragraph.

Fortunately we allow editing here so on popular threads it's possible to update the images. That said we're basically lost years of history as I highly doubt most will be updated.

Post Upgrade Niggles
themaninthesuitcase replied to themaninthesuitcase's topic in Forum Help & Support
I use it a pretty decent amount, sort of "I've read this I agree/like/approve but don't really have anything to add or say further". Beats the bad old days of +1 posts. -
Post Upgrade Niggles

Seems the like button is back, thanks for the quick turn around! -
First: Thanks for the hard work you've put in to upgrade the site. I am sure this was far from a trivial amount of work. I've noticed a couple of issues, which I've no doubt you're already aware of but always worth rasing a ticket: Tapatalk isn't logging me in The "thumbs up" function seems to be missing. If anything else pops up I'll add to this.

E-11 Expert Infantryman question
themaninthesuitcase replied to AmmTian's topic in General Weapons Discussion
You will need a clearable weapon according to the CRL you are applying for. Eg an ANH stunt will need an E-11 or DTL-19. -
The types of R1 Armor and where they are going
themaninthesuitcase replied to Daetrin's topic in Rogue One
Sounds perfect to me. -
That strikes me as a terrible idea. Customs aren't idiots and it makes it clear you're trying to avoid them which I'm sure they will not be best pleased about.

Hand Plate too Big?
themaninthesuitcase replied to Sarge.'s topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Might be worth askign a few sellers if they do a smaller size in the rubber ones? Other option is to get a latex/silicone one and cut it down, the lack of return will be les sof an issue. Of if you're feeling brave make a mold in the size you need! -
Not just tapatalk, the site has been having issues for a few days now.

I use adjustable airsoft helmet padding from ebay. I also have a lenth of 18mm elastic as a chin strap that helps pull the helmet down as I feel more comfortable with that, even with I'm constantly adjusting the helmet. I have a single length of visor and it's not been an issue, I've never seen the need to cut them down. Seems like a lot of work for little to no gain.

HDPE helmet project
themaninthesuitcase replied to Moussvroum's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I keep toying with one of these when Andy sells them. I'll be watching this. -
Whilst I'm not the most experienced trooper in the legion I've seen my fair share of TKs at UKG troops. I'm pretty sure not a single one of them had a painted helmet. Whilst you're right it's technically more accurate it's not really very common at all. A few people have them but they tend to be display pieces.

I've started 3D modelling one. It's designed to take a 7/8" blade and uses 25mm and 40mm tube for the main body. The rest will be 3D printed. This is based on the wookiepedia images with my own embellishments. ------------ So far only really the basic design and blade mounting is done, the rest need's thinking through. I have no idea how the LED, board, and speaker will mount for example. Or where the battery goes! At this point though it's more of a winter project as my 3D printer will be tied up on other stuff for a while. There's also a very real chance this is as done as it will ever be.

The types of R1 Armor and where they are going
themaninthesuitcase replied to Daetrin's topic in Rogue One
The way I see it is the 2 dirty and backpacked troopers both feel like TDs to me. The exact specifics like the knee and ab buttons may differ but the fact they are on a dirty planet, covered in dirt, wearing a backpack says TD to me. As said I expect the costume designers where going for sand trooopers from ANH not HWTs from a game. The trooper in the transport, could go either way, but gut feel is FISD as it's just a TK on guard duty.
