I use a pair of combination padlocks so I don't have to worry about a key, but as said I generally don't feel the need. In fact I've left it open on purpose a few times so people at a large con had access to my field repair kit (which really helped a RL member). As for the "kit" I think it was ISD (now closed but the owner is running a less single focus business so may still do them) or RWA. It's not overly complex, so I am sure any one with a vac machine could knock one up very quickly.

Troopermaster is another maker, he also does a ROTJ but is also generally very knowledgeable about how original armour went together.

Those split rivets look too far in to my eye. I can't remember off the top of my head the correct measurement but the proportioning vs the vertical distances look off to me.

What flood is that? Only other boots I see are Imperial Boot, which are decent and leather, or converted black Chelsea boots? May be different in the US I suppose.

I think technically most resins are plastic, and not all resins are all that fragile. Some more normal plastics will be just as brittle as a resin if they pick the wrong one, would be insterested to know what he's using on these parts. I have been wanting to build one for display but there's always something else in line first.

My understanding,which may well be wrong, is the fraying is because it was not a finished edge. Essentially they cut strips of canvas, and I think denim (others will know better) and sewed them together. As the belts are used the unfinished edge would just fray. Mines unfinished and it's rather frayed, i.e. It's pretty accurate.

I wear gloves that are a little too large (XL I think) and then wear a cotton massage glove to soak up the gross. I was ph the liners with my under suit and after 4-5 washes they fall apart and I bin them. Cost me £2-3 for 10 pairs. Disclaimer: I do not have to troop anything hotter that a British summer or a full Excel exhibition centre. Floridians for example may think differently.

Did you get an answer on the ab? I'd start by trimming the excess on the ab plate and the positioning should be far more obvious.

So long as it's not visible from the outside you are free to add stuff like that on the inside. One of the cooler things I've seen are storage bags in the back plate.

Also now I've actually looked: remember the accurate TK isn't symmetrical so almost no measurements will be equal from seemingly similar positions. I found the best way to do the belt snaps was to punch the belt first then offer the belt to the abs where it needed to be beige marking. I then punched slightly inside these to allow for the belt to bend and not pull on the snaps.

The thing to remember is a lot of these were made for a specific build for a specific person. As such many of the exact dimensions won't translate well to your build. Apply common sense and good judgement and you'll be fine. These should be treated more like guidelines than rules.

I think the gloves I wear every troop are just heavy duty washing up gloves. If not my back up pair certainly is.

Benham have a retail in Feltham south London and I think Birmingham. There's also PS-Composites in St Albans (call first to check they have what you want). These guys are one of the suppliers for Leavsden Studios and have been used in Star Wars films and also potters and all sorts. They sell some more oddity stuff like Gun foam etc Mbfg which are in Ireland but popular and competitive on pricing and shipping. I suspect the R1 shore helmets use one of the resins they sell but need to order some to test for that brown hue.
