  1. Moving this thread to the foundry. Even with the price there are no products in hand so cannot be in the normal sales forum. Once you have items on hand feel free to post a new thread in the sales forum.
  2. Yeah this sucks. But it's nice to know you always have something you can sit on
  3. RWA is a super nice guy, he does an incredible amount for good causes. However, if you are set on a Hero then a TM in 1.5mm ABS would be my choice.
  4. I flipped to inverse and messed with the contrast and brightness (a great way to see small dark details BTW) and it looks very much like a reflection to me.
  5. Keep it civil please gentlemen.
  6. TM would be my choice for a Hero, I didn't know RS did one. Price is in a similar ball park as RS iirc but you're best bet is to ask him. He's also @troopermaster on here if you would prefer that to Facebook. Ideally source all parts from the same maker. All suits are a bit different and so have a "look" which will work best as a matched set. The colour of the ABS will vary a little too so ordering from one maker at the same time will reduce this as well.
  7. Welcome to the FISD! Helmets are 1 size fits all, some people they are more snug (me) others have loads of room. They just affects how you pad it out to fit. RS is a stunt kit, the armour is the same but they do not do a Hero helmet which has a different face plate. My weight has gone up and down. I dropped about 5kg and armour fit was still fine. Much more than this or a large gain may mean things need adjusting. I don't think I've ever seen a Hero light sabre outside of that CRL image. Not sure where they came from but generally the Hero suit will replicate the suits Luke and Han (and also a few background TKs if you pay attention) wore in ANH. There is also the "promo" trooper which used the SR-14R and short holster but there are maybe 2 members with those I've ever seen.
  8. Really until we see the finished cut: no one knows. However I would suggest that these will not get a CRL as they will not have a huge amount of screen time or prominence. I may be wrong, hence waiting. Either way a group of 501st members now own screen used props, no arguing there.
  9. TRamp is a standalone unit, no phone. You might be thinking of TrooperTalk?
  10. I've not heard of MiCom do you have a link. Tramp's Paul is a personal friend so I'm biased but it does get excellent reviews (I don't actually own one). Tad on the spendy side but he looks after his customers.
  11. TM would be my choice for a Hero helmet as well.
  12. I use a Stanley 50gal job site box because I am too lazy to take the armour apart. It's brilliant but huge. Helmet goes in a motor bike bag just because I want to make sure it's not sat being squashed for any period of time, though it once took a hit in that bag.... Some people use a smaller 120L (about 70L less than the big ones) boxes. I used to but just found the fit a bit more of a faff so got a bigger one. Some use a large suitcase. I need to get one as for some troops the big Stanley is just too big and heavy to get on things like the Tube.
  13. The 3D designer for a lot of this mentioned this in an older Instagram post. Spoke of "big block molds" for vacuum casting. I of course can't find the comment post I am thinking of but the basics is here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BpCgNhNgI71/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
  14. The actual raw material for a single cast wouldn’t be too bad (can’t imagine there’s much more than 2 gals in one so maybe 200-300 in resin?) but the setup costs and running costs for mould up keep would be pretty outrageous. Also it assumes you have a good starting point to mould from, and you’d want to keep it around as moulds expire and need replacing. Maybe you you could replicate the injection process with syringes but the volumes would probably be a bit large for that. Really you need someone who knows what they are doing so you don’t waste money on badly designed moulds, short life moulds and poor castings. Material choice could be made with a few small scale tests before buying a bigger batch of something.
  15. Could be a paint reaction too, some paints don't play well in certain orders and the paint will react. Generally I always try run a test piece when using new paints or layering using differing brands I've not used before.
  16. This is a close up of a ROTK which should give you a good idea what you're looking for: Rogue One Stormtrooper Reference CE 2016 by Christopher Pearson, on Flickr If you click through you'll be able to zoom right in on the detail.
  17. Does no one own a decent camera anymore? Most the images I've seen aren't exactly the best quality.
  18. I measured mine off of the casting, if you've put stuff slightly off then any measurements we give you will be off.
  19. Thanks Brian, amazing to see just how many different movies/shows you were able to work on. Do you have any favourites from the non Star Wars stuff?
  20. It shouldn't matter who made the armour so long as it is accurate and not of poor definition. Garrisons shouldn't be shunning you based on the kit you purchased even if it's less than ideal/a recast.
  21. The pricing on the 850 seems in the "too good to be true" realm. The pulls in the photo look a bit soft (lacking in detail) in a few areas too. Jim is a commonly used kit, uses a semi flexible fibreglass material. They tend to need a fair bit of prep work before painting but can give excellent results with some elbow grease.
  22. Looks like you're of to a good start there Dan French France land now isn't it?
  23. Ouch, over double what the OT was then. And when it arrives Fedex are going to send you an invoice for 23% of the kit + shipping cost + handling fee....
  24. Me too, I was looking at how I could scrounge up the money but the unknown on the shipping was just a step too far. Glad I dodged that one now.
  25. The oldest posts in that section are from 2007 so it's been around a while. I believe the permissions were updated recently so that non-501st members can see it exists but can't see what's inside.
