  1. Welcome to the FISD! I feel the strapping kit is very overpriced for what you get but if you want convenience it’s an option.
  2. I’m reasonably sure my grandfather once met RBP. He was a scout master back when they were still called that and scouts wore the hats, and possibly still carried staves. He lived just down the coast from Poole, where the first scout camp was held on Brownsea island. He had several major scout awards, sadly these were all stolen along with his WWII Service medals in the 90s. The scouts runs in my family, I was a scout and achieved my Chief scout award, my sister was an explorer after guides and my mum ran was group scout leader right up until she passed away. The scouts planted a memorial for her in the local park where the scouts, and cubs where often to be found.
  3. The approved post is old but it is kept updated as stuff changes. I can’t remember if the FOTK stuff is on there but there is a list somewhere. Also worth searching the forum generally for that maker name as I’m sure they’ve been brought up before.
  4. There's plenty about them but the short of it is it's fine for Halloween but if you want to join the 501st there's many other better options.
  5. I’m pretty sure that TM will ship anywhere, but he’s UK based.
  6. I wonder what caused them not to used the R1 helmets as well as the armour. Looks like the angle to me, they aren't quite at the same photo angles. If I take mine and turn it right it looks pretty close, also I can't really think of any other buckets with such a distinctive eye surround.
  7. I haven’t seen any of the episodes yet, yay March release time , but do we even know if these are imperial troopers? Wouldn’t be the first time someone who shouldn’t wore the white armour.
  8. For boots there’s always the traditional method: black Chelsea boots painted white. For an ANH trooper the holster is always on the left hip. It’s nothing to do with the handedness of the trooper it’s how they were on screen. In many scenes you see all troopers carrying lefty. I know many troopers who emulate this when trooping but I personally struggle so only do it when the look requires it.
  9. Emoji aren’t enabled/supported I’m afraid. There are some smilies you can use if you know the short code or use the menu above. If you type an emoji into the forum directly it won’t let you post. Tapatalk does it’s own thing but it’s not supported by us.
  10. A large suitcase will also be a good option. What ever you go for just make sure it fits into your chosen method of transportation.
  11. The email you provided is correct for that account. As far as I can see there is no reason why they shouldn’t be able to log in. If you can get the exact error we might be able to narrow it down more.
  12. This wasn’t aimed at you, more of a general reminder. It was possibly a bit course as I’ve been spoilt multiple times today before I posted that. Long wait. Some regions are next year. But various sea captains are sailing at the moment nullifying some of that.
  13. Also in team “not available in my region”. Etiquette says give people time to see it before posting spoilers with out warning. Hard for this one given the long lead times for some regions but at least give a heads up in your post. Ideally leave out any spoilers unless 100% needed or I’ll be editing your post.
  14. The current issue affects all email not just confirmations etc. I also haven’t received an email in a while, for anything.
  15. Unfortunately there is an issue with the mail provider where the mail we send out is being detected as spam by the receivers mail provider. This is blocked before it even gets as far as a spam folder so there really isn't a lot we can do at the moment, but the web team are aware. So it's not just you. If you drop me a pm with the troopers user name and email I'll have a look manually for you.
  16. We don't punish a new trooper for buying a recast armour, that wouldn't be fair on them. We will not however condone recasting, allow sellers of recasts to sell here, and will heavily recommend away from them. This hasn't changed. Do people come here with recast armour? Yes, we help them get the most of that armour with the goal of joining the 501st and being the best trooper they can. Will we recommend seller? No. There have been a number of recast incidents recently, but for the most part none of them have become a large seller which is a small victory and probably due to the effort put in by members here to direct new recruits to reliable vendors.
  17. Recasting of Anovos is still recasting and will be treated in the same manor as anything else.
  18. Retrobrite is hydrogen peroxide, same thing. Well now it is anyways, people use a peroxide creme. Before it was hydrogen peroxide and 11 herbs and spices to make it into a creme. Short story long: get a peroxide creme, paint it on, wrap in cling film to stop it drying out, leave in the sun for a bit to work, wash off. Repeat if needed.
  19. People use it to de-yellow sun damaged armour. The reality is white plastic is not very consistent even from the same supplier, the sun will yellow parts pretty fast too given a chance. Peroxide is probably a good start point, have a look for retrobrite on youtube for the technique.
  20. I'm just going to throw it out there that you can get 1 good kit from the vetted list for about the same money as the 2 for 1 deal from TKUK. Yes its 1 not 2 kits if you're sharing with a friend. Also the reality is that difference isn't as big as you think once you factor in the cost of the under suit, boots, gloves, belt, blaster, paint. tools and other build supplies etc. Yes it's the cheapest, but I have bought enough of "the cheapest" in my time to know that unless you know why you're going for the cheapest it's usually a mistake.
  21. This is my take. People have made it work but the work required is extensive and it will never be as good as something that was better in the first place. Take a look at the getting started posts and you will find a number of suppliers that are known to be reliable. There are many others not on that list. that doesn't mean they are out to get you or have bad product just they've not been through the vetting. If you find someone else please do ask here first or have a search for them on the forum before spending any money. Also stay away from eBay.
  22. Hi Michael, You're best bet for some local help will be to head over to the UKG (https://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/join-us.html) as Glens said. I'm pretty sure we have a few troopers over Suffolk way, but until we know a bit more about what you've got and about you it's hard to offer anything overly useful advice wise. Once over at the UKG create a Work in Progress in the armoury and post some pictures of what you've got and one of the armoury team will help guide you. Feel free to post some pictures here too of course. Chris (UKG Attaché)
  23. You’ll need to post in the thread linked above or it won’t be seen by the right people.
  24. There’s a few things that need to be correct for it to work. I’m not sure on all of them but as a minimum I believe it uses emails to match you here and at the legion. So go through all the things like that on both the legion and FISD and ensure they match. If this still doesn’t resolve it before the election then it can be fixed manually by the DL.
