  1. Realize that FX is not made anymore, so you mean it's successor, AM, right? And then, you'll need to get a different helmet unless you're huge. I think you're correct that AM will still be less, but I'd check current pricing to be sure.
  2. FWIW, *all* armor makes - even FX - can be made EIB. T/MC can be a little less expensive than AP - I'd check both for price/avail.
  3. I think the only way to compare size is in kit form. Once at a garrison get togeher we had 3 TE2's, and AP, and an RT. The "largest" and "smallest" seemed both be TE2's. Of the TE2's, two where sandy and one was a TK build. So much can happen in the build and even between pulls to cause much variation. While there is probably truth that they are differences in the molds themselves, that seems only one part of the story.
  4. I like them both. The TK is great especially when there are a bunch of us, or when I want a lot of freedom of movement. I used to wear the sandy more when there were already a bunch of TK's and especially for events where I had a lot of room. If I could only have one costume it will be the TK, but the sandy will always remain #2 in my heart.
  5. It's the start of something beautiful. Will be great when you are officially a 501st member
  6. All - the reason the menu gets lost is exactly what Brian, etc. say: it has to do with screen size/resolution and the fact that when either are low enough the text wraps and then you have white text on a white background. I'm running 1600x1220 on a 5 year old monitor and mine looks like this: I can even get the full display on my little netbook. What resolution are you guys looking at? Karin - you're only one menu away from seeing it. Riveting - the today's active content link is broken when we upgraded the forum's software. Unless we load a whole new skin and mod it, the best we can do is try to find a php developer who can fix the skin.
  7. Ah, but you are a normal person. Remember that stormtroopers are trained to jump to the breach regardless, just like their clone forebears did on Geonosis. One more tidbit: I was reading The Making of Empire Strikes Back and apparently one of the scenes they had planned to film but did not have time to was the snowtroopers blasting at the Falcon and taking out it's hyperdrive. Pretty good shooting on a moving target I'd think...
  8. Deja vu - check out this thread: <a href="http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=3404" target="_blank">http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=3404</a> copy/paste time... -------------------------------------- Below are my thoughts from the perspective of my alter ego, TK(TD)8020. OK, I just have to defend our guys in black and white. First off, I was there in docking bay 94. Our orders were to stop the ship. The only reason that scruffy Correlian lived was because we weren't aiming for him. If we killed him and the ship got away we'd be disobeying orders, so everyone aimed for things like the insystem flight controls to keep them from taking off, or to cripple them so they couldn't run in case they did get off. That was the priority. Yeah, a few of us bought it, but not everyone had the opportunity to run for cover & there was a pretty powerful laser cannon swinging our way...I like to think we were able to soften up at least the lateral controls. My buds in orbit said it wasn't maneuvering all that well and they barely escaped. Now I wasn't on the Death Star when all that hullaballoo went on (though I was earlier), but I talked to another of my buds who was, and he said that Vader had issued orders that those prisoners were not to be killed and to let them get away. So all that running around escaping bit you hear about? Well let me tell you they were only supposed to keep up enough fire to keep them running, not to kill them. At any cost. And the ship escaping? Same thing, he was in the docking bay (what a coincidence - both of us doing the same thing) and he told me that they were told just to aim to miss, e.g. let them get away. Why? Vader's idea. Dumb move if you ask me. So us guys in white did an outstanding job when you understand what was going on. And the TIE pilots? Again, they kicked some major butt. Only two rebel ships plus that frieghter got away - the rest destroyed in ship to ship combat. Yeah, our TIE guys don't get nearly enough credit as they deserve. Endor? Jeesh, I never hear the end of it. Listen, those guys were all ROADs (retired on active duty) and guys out of basic. Apparently the higher ups thought Endor duty was pretty low risk what with all the other hardware around, and it was just after holiday. Most of them were pretty toasted. And my cousin who's in intelligence and watched some of the classified security tapes told me that they were very much outnumbered, more so than the general public was led to believe. As if a small band or so locals could defeat troopers. As if. There were a lot more of those little fur coats around and a lot of them bought it before our troops were overwhelmed. Dirty little secret the rebels didn't want to reveal - made them look much tougher than they really were. OK long story short. We've gotten a lot of flack and some writers and what not have tried to lump us in with the sorry suckers of other military forces, but the reality of the situation is that we're the elite, and don't go down as easily as we're made out to be. 9. Perhaps it's the width of the browser window? I have that issue when I make the window smaller at work.
  10. Instead of search, you can try the Tutorials link at the top of the page in the menu. Boots are here: ------- If they don't have what you need and find a thread, feel free to suggest one be added. And yes anyone can suggest more content for that section
  11. Only sandtroopers, and even then it's a bit of a mis-nomer. Someone found a screen grab with what looked to me like gaffer's tape on the back of their hand and some seem to emulate that look, even though it's really a costume flub as the other sandtroopers have normal hand plates.
  12. Related : ---- Mark is partially correct. I can only recall seeing one bump at a time painted in ANH but the position is not always consistent (sandtroper up front, others the back one, Hero either back or center). ESB has 3 on some helmets, ROTJ 2. At least, using Jez's site as a guide... If you just want to have fun with it and not care about prop replication per se or want to have fun with "ranks" see : ----
  13. This is a gap in language. What the intent was that armor should not be weathered like sandtroopers. How it should read is that the armor should be scuffed and lightly weathered, with weathering being defined as the use of blackwash or similar technique, as opposed to a sandy/dirty look. I looked through the CRL's/EIB's and we can certainly update this language to make it more clear.
  14. Overall it looks good. As some have noted still a little tweaking to do, but this is pretty normal for a new build.
  15. How does the plastic match? I was thinking ATA for doing one myself but AM is attractive for the legs for a guy my height.
  16. Love it! I can't wait for the day when SpecOps has enough non-TK based costumes that FISD can start having blackhole troopers associate and be covered by FISD directly. Cheers
  17. Good catch - fixed
  18. Congrats Damian! It's not just the quantity but the quality that has been impressive. You won your FISD achievement medal on merit alone, and have been a huge part of the IPM. Cheers for another tonne
  19. Did you email your GML directly? Are you logged on to their forums as well? Usually contacting the GML will get it sorted.
  20. You're in luck Arnaldo! As Daniel noted, this was just answered yesterday. Seem my post #2 here: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=13321 For ROTJ helmets, you'll want to *try* to find a TE ROTJ, or wait for one from JoeR.
  21. Billy Haggis created a fantastic tutorials on how to pimp out a hyperfirm - did you check those?
  22. Actually Sean I never really holster my weapon, and thus have never worried about it. I think a canvas belt with plastic reinforcement is a great place to start and some vendors make them that way. You can also put some velcro or a snap back there too, but others would be better enabled to chime in their experiences.
  23. The other thing I was going to suggest was simply to velcro or glue a piece of plastic to the inside of the belt on your holster side. It will prevent sagging and not be visible from the outside, but I like Terry's idea better
  24. To ease any concern Tray - any increase in EIB standards will be voted on, and we'd also probably break out the Stunt from Hero at that time. Honestly I don't see it happening any time soon unless there were reliable and accessible sources for the parts. The point of EI is not 100% film accuracy at any cost - it's meant to be a step higher than 501st base standards that are achievable at a reasonable cost/effort.
  25. You are too awesome John
