  1. Considering that Mr. Muir is on these boards, has anyone thought to ask him what he remembers?
  2. I highly recommmend this book - the fact that there is now a disk is an excellent bonus. Thanksf for offering them again Mr. Muir
  3. Looking much improved
  4. HWT's carry the T-21 Gotta remember that EU are TK's too
  5. Came out great Nick - love the details. Looks very robust too
  6. Even if it can't be in a helmet, could still be a cool belt accessory, or else I wonder if you take it apart put one in a comlink?
  7. Posted on my garrison boards as well - luck!
  8. Agreed. I think the issue is not the GML, just that the rules aren't clearly spelled out. If the GML can overrule the LMO, fine then so be it. If not, then problem equally solved. It's the ambiguity that is the issue, not the GML.
  9. Yes, that is my understanding, and hence my confusion as to why the UK GML seems able to override the LMO when other GML's cannot.
  10. Agreed. I remember the first time I cut in to my ab plate for my sandtrooper (it was an FX kit, we had to). But after a point you realize that the worst that happens is you just start over. For paint, well do one piece at a time, preferably on a practice piece, and if you make a mistake, clean up and start over. Else how will you ever get good at it?
  11. Actually, you can. Weapons are usually options. Since the Incinerator is EU it's LMO approval, and he's approved Incinerators in the past without them.
  12. Still surprised that the GML could overturn an LMO ruling - technically the LMO sets standards, and the GML acts under that direction. Well, perhaps next year a new GCO may have a different opinion. In the meantime, that flamethrower is outstanding and there's now way they can say no to that.
  13. Agreed - this is quite impressive. My own looks like a turd now
  14. Nice! Do you plan on eventually inverting the ab plate and installing ROTJ door trim? It would really make the armor pop
  15. Wow, you are making the Blackhole trooper look gooooood
  16. Do you have a pix? Instead of using snaps I actually used a piece of plastic that is the length of the pieces vertically with velcro on one side, then put velcro on the insides of the ab/kidney. The "shim" is entirely inside both pieces. Thus, there is grip along the entire vertical length. While this works OK, I'd think a better solution is to head the pieces and bend them to a better shape for your body. I'm not skilled enough to try this, but others I know have with excellent results.
  17. +1 FTW...
  18. There are two versions for EIB - one based on the action figure (an ANH stunt base) and one on the game render (ROTJ + ANH helmet/hands). This is what the det voted for at the time. Perhaps when there are more than 1 TKC EI, they'll be tightened... ;-)
  19. For shoulder bells, the look I recommend trying to emulate are: * TKDUENO: http://501st.com/crl/TK_CRL/124_Stormtrooper_S_ANH/index124.php One of the top ANH Stunt suits Legion-wide * TK-J: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=9964 Probably the best ROTJ done to date
  20. I meant trim them up a tad so they don't overlap the biceps as much.
  21. You look awesome! At some point you'll want to tighten up the shoulder bells too, but that's one small nit on an otherwise outstanding costume. When do you turn 18? We need a good TK Commander CRL model...
  22. I'll just say this: some people have time and some people have money. Few have ample amounts of both. Yes, I have a hyperfirm but I can also afford to drop $225 on a blaster whereas finding a free weekend to work on a prop is pretty near impossible, and given how much I make per hour it's more cost effective to have people build my props than me doing it myself usually anyway. For my $.02, Pat did a phenomenal job on this blaster and I'll agree it's that it's worth creating a tutorial thread about. Is it a de-act Sterling? No, but he didn't punch out $500 on it either. I thought he was very creative and the results are great. As for the German part - my grandparents spoke German at home but I grew up in a very mixed neighborhood where racial & religious epithets were common, so being called the "good German who keeps the trains running" wasn't taken as a negative, as I used to sling the same in return back to my friends. That said, I recognize not everyone was blessed to grow up in a place where the Germans ate Chinese food and the Chinese ate Mexican food and the Mexicans at Greek food and the Greeks ate at the kosher deli just like everyone else in the 'hood; black, hispanic, white, etc. As such, I'd advise not presuming others are OK with monikers unless they've blessed such a nickname in advance, lest tkrestonva is forced to do what he does so well.
  23. I think the d-ring needs a little TLC from a leatherman to get to the right shape/size, but that should be 5 minutes of work. Otherwise, looking good
  24. It's absolute rubbish. You need to ship it to me immediately for proper disposal. j/k - it's gorgeous
