Jes Gistang - research thread
Daetrin replied to Daetrin's topic in Legacy Stormtrooper (Joker Squad)
Great first steps are: 1. Having a list of references (which you have) 2. Having a picture for each reference (we'll need) 3. Creating a textual list of requirments even in draft form - a CRL if you will 4. Someone doing the actual costume and submitting it Anyone up for items 2-4? -
TK-7531 Requesting [ANH] EIB Status
Daetrin replied to jedi7's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
With regards to the belt, there are a lot of screen shots in both ANH & ESB that show troopers with belts that pull to one side. I think a little tilt can be fine as long as the belt is not sagging at the holster area and is otherwise correctly placed. -
A very Happy Easter from me to everyone who celebrates this event worldwide. BTW: great pix guys!

Sorry about that - it was a copy/paste error when we were updating the text to clean it up. All good now. -
CFO ROTJ suit build.

This is a beautiful example of "light weathering" too. Very subtle. Sandy brothers can take a lot of lessons on this. -
Fixed.

CFO ROTJ suit build.
Daetrin replied to stukatrooper's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Not only is this an amazing build thread in it's own right with a lovingly applied attention to detail, but it takes the ROTJ trooper to a whole new level to really show how good an ROTJ trooper can be from the ground up, using ROTJ armor. -

TK-2959 Requesting ANH Centurion Status[1][TM*]
Daetrin replied to Locitus's topic in Request Centurion Status
Congratulations Mathias on being FISD's first Centurion inductee. Your armor build is exquisitely done and is a shining example of what is possible. While the charging handle may seem a small detail, as Mason says it's present in the reference shots and is akin to having a trigger guard. You do FISD, the Nordic Garrison, and the Legion proud. -
I wanted to give some guidelines to improve the quality of the images used in the Centurion profiles. Also, to ease the work of the combat photographers and speed up our work, so you'll have you profile image sooner. For your Centurion profile we'll need an action shot of yourself. Here you have some recommendations: Size Anything from 640 x 480 pixels upwards will do. Anything smaller will give us small margin and might be problematic to work with. An ideal size will be anything bigger than 1MP (1280 x 960 pixels). Try to take it with the best camera you have access to. The better the image, the better the result will be. Save it in JPG format with a high to maximum setting (8 to 10). Use the "high quality" settings on the camera. If you're proficient with Photoshop you can also use a PNG with an alpha mask. Light Try to take your pictures with good light. Direct sunlight is not good, as it gives hard edges. Using flash is also bad, as it creates too much contrast, colors turn out weird and will concentrate light on one point. You can put yourself next to a window during the day to get a nice indirect lateral light, without the need to use flash or additional light sources. See the profile pictures for examples. Background Try to use a medium grey or red background. Too dark or too light backgrounds are problematic, as the white armor parts or the dark underarmor parts tend to blend with those backgrounds and we'll have to guess some of the parts and where to mask. Red works best as there are no red parts in a stormtrooper armor, so any red cast can be easily taken off from the image. Try to use a solid color background, or at least a consistent, simple one, as too noisy backgrounds are difficult to handle too. Posture You can pose in any way you want, but keep in mind that the images have a vertical orientation. Also, the decoration (borders, etc.) give us some costrains. Try not to cover your helmet with your blaster or hands. And try to be looking forward. But you can be as creative as you want. Again, you can look for examples in the existing Centurion profiles.

We are implementing a few guidelines for posting your Centurion submission that we hope will improve the quality of the program. 1: new formatting for Centurion submission > please add the following information to your post using this formatting Armor= (your armor type) Helmet= (your helmet type) Blaster= (your blaster information)eg: resin, scratchbuild, sterling ext... optional: feel free to add more information about your gear (see below) the more the better Height = Weight = Boots = Canvas belt = Hand Plates = Electronics= Neck Seal = Holster = Adding this information will not effect your approval in any way, it is merely to make all Centurion posts (past and present) a valuable point of reference for the community. as many of you know, when trying to achieve Centurion status that looking through the old Centurion threads for applicants with the same type of armor you are making can be tricky, as it is not always listed in the title or post. We believe this will make it much easier to find examples and references of other Centurions with similar armor types. the new formatting will look like this ( TK0123 requesting Centurion status [position #] [ARMOR TYPE] ). *Please note that the position # and armor type will only be added after you are approved This also allows you to search all of the approved Centurion posts by armor type by typing the armor type you are looking for between brackets in the search box [armor type] Look here for the list of armor search tags-------------- All applicants please have 501st trooper status and be EIB approved before submitting your application. You can request 501st status------------

Congrats! Wow, you UK guys are just tearing it up! -
As this is ROTJ armor as a base, the main item we wanted to ensure of was that we did not see ANH/ESB style detonators. There is a question on if the control panel should be omitted per the game or else chalked up to a lapse on the game designer - they are not always 100% on details after all.

We've priced it out and sequential numbering adds about $.75-$1 per coin, depending on the volume we order.

Gentle Giant - Female Stormtrooper Statue http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Gentle_Giant_Female_Stormtrooper_Statue_137588.asp It will take more than one action figure, but still it's interesting to see this coming out.

Great points Brian. Are you volunteering to identify and offer alternative wording then on each issue, or is your expectation that I'll run through them all on my own? -
Good call John - I'll check on the costs to have the next batch numbered for this reason. It was just inconceivable at the time we did the first run that someone would do this.

LOL - the irony is not lost. As Mark said (or alluded to IIRC) at a certain point the hairs are too fine to worry about splitting.
