What's going on with these thighs?
Daetrin replied to Darth Hilarious's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
You can also just use velcro to seal the backs of your thighs for the first few troops to ensure they are fitted correctly. It's far easer to remove velcro than glue. Just be cautious that when you finall do remove velcro, it will also be narrower as the velcro does add that little bit of extra room/give. -
RT is a big troopers good friend, and the suit looks well fitted. I agree, time for glue Q: "Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?" A: "Aren't you a little bald for a wookie?"

6189's HWT Bazooka Build
Daetrin replied to Ketariniii's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
How about one of Tribune's mortar packs? -
Agreed. If people want FX, we have a qualifed and vetted FX source here that is less expensive than the eBay folks, and has a better reputation for service.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW The FISD Expert Infantryman program at it's heart was meant to give people who want to do more than the base level of Legion acceptance both a set of standards that while higher on the accuracy bar were also achievable with a reasonable amount of effort and budget. While this program has been successful we recognize that as the state of the art for stormtrooper-based costuming has evolved and more information is available on how the original props were made, there is a group of who want an even higher bar to reach for. Rather than increasing the current EIB standards to a level only a few can achieve or not providing any guidance for those with the accuracy bug, FISD has created the Centurion program. If you the 501st standards can be thought of as "must haves" and the Expert Infantryman program is the first step of "should haves", the Centurion is for those who are continuing their costuming journey and have reached the "next step" of costuming standards. The "may haves" become "must haves" and close attention is paid to every visible detail. While we recognize the value of "prop forgery" to our hobby, that is not the goal or intent of the program. Thus there will be no concern for what sort of strapping system is used, what connectors are made of, or what sort of plastic helmets and armor are pulled from. The focus will instead rest on the outward appearance of the armor. Are there rivets on the sides where they should be and so on. "Prop forgery" has its place, and may one day have its reward in the form of a badge, icon, or title, but this is not yet it. WHY THE NAME CENTURION Because it's keeping with the infantry theme of FISD's "Expert Infantryman" program and also draws from the word "Legion" (our parent organization). "Centurions often suffered heavy casualties in battle, generally fighting alongside the legionaries they commanded. They usually led from the front, occupying a position at the front right of the century formation. They led and inspired their men by example. They also sought to display the skill and courage that may have brought them to their rank in the first place. It is for these reasons that they often suffered a disproportionate number of casualties." -- SOURCE: Wikipedia Centurions can be thought of as leaders in both FISD and the Legion in terms of stormtrooper costuming. RELATION TO THE 501st CRL and FISD EI STANDARDS Ceturion can be thought of as part of a stormtroopers costuming progression and tie in to how the FISD forum is structured. Here is how the forums and programs tie together: Target Audience: Beginner Forum: Basic Training Goal: 501st Acceptance, basics of armor building Target Audience: Intermediate Forum: Infantry School Goal: Expert Infantryman Target Audience: Expert Forum: Advanced Tactics and Training Goal: Legion Centurion REQUIREMENTS OVERVIEW Unlike the Expert Infantryman program, and FISD Centurion will be awarded once regardless of how many costumes a person has that qualifies, e.g. there will be no multiple Centurion awards. Just as Expert Infantryman standards are "should haves" for the CRL, Centurion will have as requirements all the "should haves" of the Expert Infantryman. We will roll out the program by costume type, first starting with the film canon troopers.

Biceps under shoulder bells 'problem'?
Daetrin replied to TrooperVenger's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
They look fine. The requirement is going after a look most troopers have. This is not really possible for people of different heights, as you can clearly see from Mark Hamill's biceps -
I have 3 TM helmets that are lost somewhere in US Customs, but when I contact customs they say they have no ability to track packages. Anyone have a friend there who could help?

Tk 9025 Requesting TK Commander EIB[151][MC]
Daetrin replied to Amptrooper's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Congrats Corey - this puts you in very Elite company as both a TKC and EI #150. And, never giving up. It's been a long road but you got there baby! -
TK-3747 requesting ANH EIB status
Daetrin replied to Topgun's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Hang steady Tyler - in truth some of these items should have been caught by your GML under "properly fitting costume", and some of the recommendations people give are "nice to haves" but not technically required. Fortunately, most of these are adjustable. For instance the strap that adjusts the chest/back can simply be mounted higher. On my first FX it was similar to yours but I had only a 1" strap. This time I have the strap mounted higher so it clears the ab/kidney. The FX is a bit more challenging to get there than other kits, but as you can see from past thread it's certainly do-able with a bit of TLC. I know it's a bit rough to get the pushback esp. as not all is EI related, but my first TK too was rejected, and even my second EI rejected for adjustment. Yes, some get easy passes, for others we just take a bit of time so you're in good company. What matters is being there in teh end, and knowing that your suit looks fabulous. -
TK-5929 requesting EIB status[150][AM]
Daetrin replied to kimu's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
We have three in GT. Being 150 is a feat in itself and noteworthy, but if you'll permit a little humor can I also say that it's good he's not #250 -
If you look at the HWT you'll see they simplified a lot just due to resolution issues. I'd think that an MEPD pack is actually preferred as if they had better technology I'm sure that's what they'd have gone after. My $.02 on that...
-
Actually 2 FTW. They scored a new deployed trooper. Still, we hit 150 EI which is a pretty good accomplishment. It took MEPD almost twice as long.

TK-5929 requesting EIB status[150][AM]
Daetrin replied to kimu's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
It is as the Emperor has forseen The other rule is that no friend of Terry's can go TK without going EI. Yet another area where Vancover beats Seattle. Other ways Vancover beats Seattle * Beer * Professional hockey * Prettier girls * Public transportation * Chinese food * Stanley Park * Whistler * Prettier girls * And now, higher pecentage of EI TK's. -
Actually both the CRL (http://www.501st.com/crl/TK_CRL/140_Stormtrooper_ICN/index140.php) and the EI state that they should follow ROTJ, e.g. EI CRL I think for 501st either all black or ROTJ blue/black would be fine, no?
-
I forget who said they thought they were large. The feedback I left was that they were the wrong color. They should all be black.

Luke's ANH armour fitting
Daetrin replied to john danter's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Wow! That's a fantastic story right there! -
You know, even at $30 I'm not sure it's worth it. In the end EI is a recognition program for people who like to take pride in their costumes. The real reward is knowing that you have an outstanding costume, and having your mug eternally plastered on our EI roster. The gold coin is just a memento, nothing more, and the least valuable part of the EI experience.
-
I'd ask for a second right bicep too.
-
It's an SE-14R. The only two makers I'm aware of are Shaun Morgan who's taking a bit of a break, and Kropserkel. KS is more expensive, but do come complete. Not sure about the quality either, but I'm sure someone will pipe in.

Alexandra's TK Build (ATA)
Daetrin replied to AlexPrime91's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Heya Alexandra - great to see you doing a full thread. I'm sure other members of Havoc squad can lend a hand, so at least you'll have some local help too for the fitting, which will be the trickiest part. Don't be afraid of strategic foam padding if needed. -
TK5231 Requesting For ANH EIB Status
Daetrin replied to TK 5231's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
QFT. Even at 6'0" I put a little foam padding in my lower back and butt plate to make them sit correctly, and I had to trim the sides of the ab & kidney of my TE2 armor. If I have to do it at my height/weight, it's not unreasonable to ask that Eugene does the same. Here is my former GCO Walter in a heavily trimmed down FX kit. I think he said that 1/2 the plastic ended up on the floor, but it does show how good one can make armor look on a smaller frame with regards to the sides. He's 5'6", and 116lbs for comparison. More pix here: http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=6782 Eugene did a really good job on his kit and the review comments are minimal and fair, I think. -
Tk 9025 Requesting TK Commander EIB[151][MC]
Daetrin replied to Amptrooper's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Works for me. Corey - what do you think? Anyone one else have thoughts? -
One correction Terrell: there were two runs of gold coins. He did the first, Wyatt (TK4205) did the second. *All* second run coins are accounted for sure.
-
No one that I'm aware of has two gold coins, but that doesn't mean someone doesn't. tk533 did some trades under the table so it's hard to say. As noted, he was the very first person we ever banned on FISD for doing so.
-
It's fine with me as long as the coin is recovered. I don't need to be the winner, so long as it's tracked.
