  1. I have had similar problems with some of my pieces, as I am a bit on the thin side. What worked for me was to glue one side, then once dry I lay the cover stip on the join, clamp and apply some heat to both sides of the piece, then apply some downwards force to the cover strip. This has worked well for me and takes the tension out of the pieces joined. May just add before attempting to heat abs you should have a practice on some off cuts. ABS is easy to heat but there is a danger of heating too much, so if you try this just take your time. Good luck how ever you proceed
  2. Send a plane ticket and I'm there LOL maybe I can hitch a ride. oops forgot I still have to finish mine first
  3. If the shim is glued, blended, sanded and polished it can look ok, but I am with you if they are just glued the do look a bit odd, would rather see the black. Just fitted mine and I thought I may have to widen mine as I have indulged in a lot of Christmas spirit of late, seems I will be fine LOL. Looking good keep up the good work
  4. I just rounded the edge on the bottom of my shins just to stop them catching on the boots. Going well keep up the good work
  5. Will look heaps better with the covers moved, keep up the good work, your are going great
  6. Not sure about using screws to attach your button plate, haven't seen that done before. It's your choice and you could still change it later
  7. Another great read, well done again everyone
  8. Was having build seperation anxiety, so did a bit of painting
  9. It won't be from lack of trying LOL
  10. So I didn't get any answers so I bugged the guru for the answer, which is, the taper sweeps backwards. In the picture below the bell on the left would be the right shoulder and the bell on the right would be the left shoulder
  11. Just on another point I have noticed forearms being picked on of late for being too large at the elbow, its the one on your right side. See how you go, good luck with submission
  12. Just a thought you could fix this by gluing a flat piese of abs to the back of it to take up what is missing. Good luck, remember measure twice cut once
  13. Glad to be of help, troopers helping troopers is the moto. That was a lot of work, well done but, yes theres a but, the flat screws also have a taper so they recess into the plate which makes them flush. It's an entirely personal preference what to use and even what you can find to use, me I'm going for the tapered flat head, but at the start of my build journey I would have settled for rivets. Go with what you are happy with, oh and remember its not permenant you can always change it later.
  14. Thanks Jenny sounds like a plan, got the cold tablets, chicken soup, Pepsi (with a splash of beam, purely medicinal) and about to re- watch the trilogy's. keep up the good work on your build, won't be long now
  15. Looking good
  16. Thanks Jenny, slowing down now this cold has take a hold Got the holes drilled in belt and snaps fitted Arms fitted with snaps And elastic on the bells
  17. I used 19mm pine and for the butt I sandwiched 3 pieces together, used wood glue then clamped. Was a lot of trimming and sanding but worth it LOL thanks Jonathan, just wrapping it NOT
  18. Depends on how much you have used this mic but I have read they do not like moisture. Still sounds like a feedback problem between the icomm and aker
  19. Looking good, hey looks pretty much the same as my floor did (but mine was on a rug)
  20. Maybe just try them away from each other first, if that fixes your problem then try to find a place to relocate
  21. I would try the aker and icomm away from each other, may not change but worth a try. I know with my cheapy setup I had to try a different mic when I converted to push to talk. Could just be picking up a feed back pulse from when you push the switch, try a different swith too, anything cheap is worth trying first. Good luck
  22. The table of progress
  23. Another mind reader LOL, I found if I gave it a little twist from the right it straightened up really well, did notice a few troopers with theirs lopsided, then just added a bit of glue and clamped until tomorrow. Now that I had a chance to try my ab and kidney together I realised the belt I had made earlier this year was too short and too wide. Lucky had some material left so went of searching, measured the gap between the tapers on the belt (3") then made another one the right length and width. Then added some snaps for the plastic belt section.
  24. Just getting the ammo belt to sit on the knee Now a couple of holes and some split rivets and washers for strength And from the front
  25. Yep a daily grind for me too, found the worst thing was wearing socks, abs is as sticky as and you got to sit there picking it all out. Hard to believe I had the carpet completely clean this morning. Got a few more snap plates attached and made some adjustable straps for the front chest and ab sections, also the back. Can change these later to non adjusting straps once I find how the armor fits me
