  1. There is an oversupply of attaché merch now. Just for the sake of transparency, I'd commented on the post my thoughts earlier, you pm'd some time later and asked if I wanted the color and font changed, I gave the same comment as previously posted here but also added I wasn't bothered about the font. I think it would be best just to use the forum in future and not private messages, I think Paul prefers it that way anyway. Also if you use an @someonesforumname into a post it won't always get seen, probably better to use the quote function then that person will get a notification. Anyway gotta dash, time to troop.
  2. Well I can only reiterate it was made that way to stand out from the normal FISD colours, hence the darker blue.
  3. "yes dear I'm telling the truth, it was the cat" "but we don't have a cat"
  4. Prefer the darker blue, it was made like that for a reason so it stood out from the other FISD awards. The current run off attaché patches also has the darker blue, once again this was for a reason so it did not resemble the FISD standard flash used on berets. Just like fonts, the blue does not need to be the same for everything. Also used on the troopers helping troopers decal
  5. Because of the hinge system built in it won't allow straight through viewing, the tutorial advises black acrylic for the appearance of lenses, I will play with a few different ideas to see which gives the best realist look.
  6. Just had to stalk Joseph's posts, this will give you a better idea
  7. Good question, some armor makers have more accuracy than others, some are cheaper, some are thicker, really depends what your budget is and what level of accuracy you are looking for. Mostly the more you pay the more accuracy you are getting, myself I chose ATA (mid range), I was also looking at TM and RS at the time, a fellow member had RS and did have a few cracks BUT he was pretty active in it, I mean REALLY active and TM just didn't fit in my budget. You won't be unhappy with either AP or RS, have a look through some of the builds for both, also some of the EI and centurion applications, they will give you an idea on what you are buying. As for skill if you've ever put a plastic model together then these are pretty much the same, only larger Pre trimmed, really depends on your frame and size, it's really not a lot of work to trim armor, seems daunting at first then after the first cut you think what was all that worry for.
  8. Every step adds up in the end, looking good, keep it up
  9. And for those unaware of rules
  10. Just a couple I have handy, this was my first set, on the second I had side by side on the inside of the chest/back armor.
  11. Definitely easier to remove glue once dry, either pulls or rubs off. You can either use ABS plates or pieces of nylon, I've used both, ABS I've had to heat a few pieces so they conform to the armor, nylon you don't have too. ABS plates I normally use what I have extra lying around, normally 1.5 or 2mm works for me. Just in case it's not been said I do like double snapping, occasionally you can have a snap fail and it's great to have a spare. Looking good, keep it up.
  12. TFA Quadnocular Build - T5H 3D Files As the heading suggests this will be a build of T5H (The5thHorseman) quadnoclar 3D files, A MASSIVE THANK YOU for completing them Germain and for once again sharing your work free with this community . I recently joined the 21st century and purchased a Cocoon Create 3D printer, a base model but it fit into my budget (some costume pieces had to be let go from the collection). A fellow member purchased the same machine last year with no major hiccups so lets see how it goes. The days of building a lot of props by hand are in my past due to some ongoing health issues so this printer will greatly help me out with that. So it began, waiting on some different coloured PLA to arrive so after familiarizing myself with Germain's extensive tutorial I started with some of the pieces that are black, soon found out while converting them that I wasn't going to print these super fine, 22 hrs for one piece is just too long for me. Of course I will be filling and adding paint but thought if I at least have the base color in PLA it won't show as much if it gets scratched or chipped. Also ordered some hardware, so much cheaper online than locally, I'm sure I'll still be printing long before I'm going to need them. Not much to show so far but wanted to start documenting the build, this is going to take a while (mostly as I only live in a small place and I'm a very light sleeper so no 24hr printing for me) More to come, eventually
  13. Star Wars: The Last Jedi - The Hangar Breakdown Video
  14. Looks very plain, to aspire some you need to dangle pretty things in front of them and awards should be full of bling. I prefer stars on top, as they are more recognisable, distinct and iinstanly seenon the dark background, not mergerd inside. No reason why it cant have a imp cog and fo cog next to the writing. Border does not look like a gold, too yellow.
  15. I have 6 coins, never really been a big thing locally so havent got in to collecting much. 1 501st, 3 FISD and 2 from our first garrison run recently. There is an interesting story on starwars.com about the history of 501st challenge coin here
  16. I wasn't aware the attaché award needed an update as it isn't that old and I do have a larger file for that but it didn't fall under 'do you have a copy of recent designs' I prefer the current version, it is clear and easy to use on any merch (and no that's not because I made it) We also have this on merch which has only recently been produced. Also wouldn't hurt to run this by Joseph as he runs the attaché program.
  17. Bicep hooks can also help to keep things in place.
  18. Nice work, apart from what has already been mentioned, you could bring up your biceps a bit as the shoulder bell is not covering your right one on the back photo. Also on the back photo you can see one of your shoulder straps is sticking up and the other is contouring the back plate. Looks like your chest plate is just covering your ab on the side photos, would suggest a tighter elastic there, could also help to bring your cod up a little to give you some more room at your thighs. Good luck with approval
  19. You can get different types of window flywire (screen mesh) plastic or metal, I prefer the metal as you can fold and shape then it's just a couple of daps of glue needed
  20. Everything in small steps, a heat gun on plastic takes some practice, if I saw then what I do with one now I'd freak
  21. Pictures would help, but as long as a cover strip will cover this area there shouldn't be an issue, adding an internal strip would also help to cover and add strength to the area.
