I actually use a satin black, I find matt can appear too flat, almost dark grey and chalky. I also use satin on the teeth, you can just see a hint of shine.

Normally you need to add a little heat to get them to sit right, the better they are from the get go the better they will close. Even using velcro I find if you don't use some heat they won't fully close. A lot of people use the hot water bath, submerge for a short period in hot water then hold to the shape you desire until it cools. If they still don't close fully you can glue a piece of abs behind one side so when closed it will pull the other side flush. You may also notice with RS on the left back of the shin towards the bottom that the left side is smaller than the right and the split is not central giving a slanted appearance, to help this you could add the coverstrip offset to this side, so instead of fully gluing half the cover strip just add 1/4, this brings the covestrip over a bit which will make it look more central. Quick example of what I mean

Velcro may help keep the belt in place, I have 4 snaps along the back of the belt which keeps mine in place, same on the front.

You can always contact one of their team to confirm, they are pretty slow over at Spec Ops, took a year and a half to finalize the Sithtrooper CRL. I think you will find he's using an already assemble helmet and taking a template of the already fitted ears with the foil, then transfer that template to the new ears on another helmet build.l and draw a trim line. I have found in my experience even build the same helmets things can be a little different from one to another. Here's a really helpful helmet build thread

Your gap should be covered by the ear, if not you may need to adjust, here's a really good helmet tutorial which you may find helpful, most helmet builds are pretty much the same
