Nice work, just make sure there are no sharp bits or you may encounter armor bites

It can be removed if needed, depends how it sits on the shin, I actually cut a notch out of the front so it sits better on the coverstrip, also helps to keep centred when adding clamps and tape for gluing.
-
Note there is tighter/thicker elastic available which reduces the amount the elastic is pulled, some double over the standard elastic for a little more strength. Also if you have your center snaps further towards the front it does help the shoulder bells rotate in towards the front after moving your arms

There is also the official concert series were Star Wars movies are played to the music of symphonies, locally we've had ANH, ESB and ROTJ but none of the new trilogy films, these have also been in other countries.

It's normally the week around May 4th but as I say it wasn't for everyone this past year. Other times are Force Friday's this is when we can attend retail locations who have new Star Wars merchandise/toys/action figures, usually a day in September but again hasn't been for a few years now. Covid saw a lot of events no longer on our calendar and LFL have not been approving many event requests.

EVA foam stormtrooper armor build

Does look a little darker than the reference, is annoying not knowing how a mix with dry and what color change you will get, trial and error -

Trying to find a professional painter in the bay area
gmrhodes13 replied to Biggiecheese63's topic in Forum Help & Support
Many just use spray cans to paint, you can get a nice finish this way. I would recommend reaching out to some automotive spray painters, some have had luck in the past, no real difference to painting a car You could also reach out to your local garrison, you can find a list of units here https://www.501st.com/members/displayUnits.php -
Hello and welcome aboard

Most tend to purchase a size up, my FOTK boots though were perfect for my actual size.

LFL allow us to attend retail locations a few times a year and these would be Star Wars only, it can change depending on location though, this past May the 4th week the moratorium on non retail was lifted but I believe that was only for Asia, Australia and NZ, it had been the whole world prior to Covid. Hospitals we also are invited to as an open invite by LFL to attend on or around May 4th but again these have been reduced since Covid and mask restrictions. On rare occasions some garrisons get invites from LFL to attend specific events, those are cannon events and everyone must wear their costumes exactly as they were seen on screen (ie by the CRL's). Hard to list these though as they don't come up very often.

I find the spray putty is a little thicker so not as many coats. -

Spray putty is for the larger scratches and imperfections. Interestingly other countries don't actually have a product called spray putty they call it primer filler. I normally use spray putty and primer, I only use the primer/filler if I can't get either of those. -

Yes I've used the white, red and clear on a couple of sets of armor and other helmets. Like any spray paint it can take a little time to get used to speed and height getting it to coat just right. You can go a little heavier with acrylic paint compared to enames too. In the end if you do get any runs they can be sanded and buffed (once completely dry that is) -
Some photos of your issues may help. Not specific to shins but here's a few threads adding some shims to some thighs on an OTTK, may give you some ideas (note some images are watermarked but can still be seen)

I've had issues with Rustoleum in the past, didnt' matter how much I shook the cans they at times came out dry and patchy. I also think Rustoleum doesn't get used as much here compared to the US so the cans could be on the shelves for some time. I only use SCA paints for armor now. -
Most armor makes can reach L3 Centurion, it's all about the assembly and research Again AM is for the bigger person so if you are average height and weight I would go for another make. Some like durability over accurateness, I went with ATA (no longer available) as it's a stronger thicker ABS plastic but not as accurate, RS is extremely accurate but very thin and can crack easily. Looking through others build threads and also the Centurion approvals is a good guide to helping select what armor is for you. Note many have the armor makers initials in their threads

I prefer to use automotive acrylic paint, a lot better than the rustoleum which can come out dry or splotchy, Supercheap Auto have their own brand SCA in acrylic. At times you can get it on special too just keep an eye on their catalogues. I find with the acrylic paint it dries quite fast, can be recoated in 10 minutes, can have clear applied over the top and can be buffed/polished for a real nice shine. Their base white was a match for the Anovos TFA and TLJ helmets too Spray putty for larger scratches/sanding, Primer filler for smaller scratches, Primer for final coat before paint.
