  1. You may need to add one. WALT may have overt rimmed unfortunately Some who have needed to fix there's cut a large plate and glue to the large ab, then fill the join with abs paste, then sand and polish This one was filled with blade putty (automotive finefill putty) It may not get picked for basic approval but will come up at L2 and L3 You could reach out to your GML and see if it can be approved how it is
  2. The elastic should be further down on the shoulder bells You can remove more of the return edge from the middle raised section (and elsewhere if you want), will help sit down on your biceps better. Normally when trimming any front facing armor the front/raised ridges are measured to fit a standard cover strip (@15mm) so from the raised area you would trim @8mm from the edge, notice you have large gaps between your cover strips and the raised areas, any sizing you would do from the back/rear side. Compare with mine Note the raised ridges and coverstrips on build I did Appears you have trimmed too much off your large ab plate, should have the base/plate around it.
  3. Looking good, almost there
  4. You need to add a link to your 501st membership profile, have a look at the first post in this thread
  5. This thread may be of help
  6. Most of us locally use fans, does get a little hot down under. There are some very nice kits available or you can make your own if you are handy with electronics, I have two 50mm squirrel fans in most of my helmets, these are independently wired and powered and I only use one at a time, second is reserve for long troops. With the fan you just need some 4 x AA battery holders, switch and wire. Some use a 9Volt but I found they didn't last very long, another option is the 5V usb battery packs you see these days. A basic diagram A couple of how too threads (and there are quite a few on the forum)
  7. Some great images there for others to follow. For anyone looking, note that Jim's kits do have a few lumps and bums (being hand made molds), I also found this with his Sithtrooper helmet, it can also be the same with the armor, just a case of a little more prep work. Also a great tip for anyone using paint is to go over your filler primer/spray putty with a very light mist coat of black (or another dark color paint), it's an automotive painters trick, when you wet sand and use a block (sanding pad/block of wood) for larger areas you will sand down any high spots first and any low spots or scratches will remain and show some black.
  8. Nice work, you can use either nylon or elastic, I use nylon for the snap plates but for the strapping itself I just find elastic allows a bit of give when moving around, nylon would be a little restricting. No doubt try it when you are kitted up and moving/extending arms and legs NOTE if you read through that thread others mention using elastic for give I see what you mean by stripes moving away at the back, I doubt this would be an issue for basic approval but may come up at higher levels, perhaps the @Deployment Officer Team could chime in. What I do is measure on some tape the width of a pencil, then apply the tape to the helmet, you adjust to get the gap just right then apply decals. An old hobby trick was to use soapy water when applying, you can move the decal's around then push out the soapy water and pat dry.
  9. Hi that is your 501st forum link not your 501st members profile, have a look at the first post in this thread
  10. Jim uses a flexible fiberglass not a rigid fiberglass so any coating you apply on the insides needs to also flex, most resins do not. Personally my Sithtrooper from Jim has some fibers inside but I sanded and coated in black spray paint and it's been fine for me. For just sealing the surface on the inside you could use something like a truck bed spray similar to what some have been using in their helmets A few options Rustoleum knock-off of FlexSeal Plasti-Dip Truck bed liner spary Dupli-Color rubberized undercoating

  12. There are a couple of different types of elastic, there is a thicker type/industrial, if not try to double over the elastic. Also when making the hole you can use a soldering iron, this will melt the edges of the hole, or you can add some E6000 first to the hole, leave to dry that add your rivet/snap. These may also be of help

  15. Normally it is the ends which start riding up, generally you can add the tabs there and it stops the problem, although a few people have also added a couple towards the middle for extra support
  16. It's very hard to make out some details as some of your images are very small, many of us use a free online image host, upload the images then copy the links here, A couple of things I can see Butt plate is overlapping your kidney, I use V brackets to help keep these in line With a heat gun (or oven/hot water bath) you bend strips of ABS plastic into the shape of a V, only glue one side and the other remains free to allow movement when you bend. Just helps stop the butt plate from pushing back from the back plate. Also our drop boxes not aligned with the end of the plastic belt section Gaps between elbows and wrists don't match from side to side. Also thighs at different heights. That's really about it with these size images, if you could add some larger images that would be great
  17. Looks like your stripes in the traps could be lengthened at the front, also the inner bottom corner could do with a little more paint Reference
  18. I really don't think you will need any heat the plastic is quite thin and will bend, with clamps, magnets and wrapping tape around they sides they should come together fine. When wrapping the tape around apply downward pressure to that area, it will squash down and wrap the tape around tightly, should end up flush. If you do need some heat refer to Mario's post
  19. I'll continue to email them every week, then if no joy I'll take it to social media, not a good way to start off a cough cough new company
  20. Nice work, now get up out of that mud and get back to the lines
  21. Haven't seen a Moncal TK build for a while, looking forward to seeing your BBB photos. All being well your wait won't be as long as others, in the past they were very, very slow with supply

  23. The only issue with painting your whole armor is paint being scratched and rubbed off. My FOTK is painted with automotive acrylic paint, it's quite tough but still gets scratched and chipped, yes you can touch up but the OTTK armor would rub in a few more areas so you could loose a fare bit of paint over time. The automotive compound you find at auto shops isn't quite as abrasive as the compound used by auto paint shops which may be why you didn't have any success, May be worth a trip to an auto paint shop and see if they will try their compound on an area. Another way could be wet sand with some ultra fine sandpaper to see if any of the bleed will sand off, if it does you can then bring the shine back with auto compound and buffing. https://youtu.be/x0HZrQgvzdk
