  1. They should shut completely and you should wear them with your boots as they can make a big difference. Some who can't completely shut add slightly larger cover strips. Also depends if you are using the hook elastic or velcro. Cricket used magnets to keep them closed Hook/elastic Velcro Magnets On some occasions some heat is needed to help the shin lay flat, many use a hot water bath as it's easier to control.
  2. Personally I would remove and reapply, it does stand out a little. E6000 is pretty easy to remove so you shouldn't have any dramas Also note for any coverstrips under pressure leave to dry for a day or two longer, especially in cold weather.
  3. Things can also get lost in translation, I don't believe anyone is trolling so please don't take offence. 2 things may have been quoted in your EIB submission but much has changed over 7 years with some more details being added and updated, if you looked through the EIB L2 requirements of the CRL you may notice some of them. There is no way my 10 year old EIB and Centurion would get approved as they are these days. At the end of the day it's the @Deployment Officer Team who will be reviewing your Centurion submission if you still wish to move forward, you could reach out to them directly to confirm any of the adjustments mentioned or post your centurion application and they will comment there.
  4. As you are only now applying for Centurion you need to meet current CRL requirements, not what requirements may have been in 2016
  5. You did not post the correct link by the looks of it, you posted your 501st forum profile instead of your 501st membership profile, have a read of the first post in this thread or post your TKID and I will find it for you.
  6. Can take a few days please stand by, A.J. will be along in due time. FYI DMBO post from 8 hours ago ***Update*** There are 442 pins left as of 10:00am US Eastern Time.
  7. Looks like they have Frankensteined this helmet, it has both TFA and TLJ elements DN Cardinal - wide side mesh like TFA but TLJ teeth and smaller clips/recesses DN TFA - large side mesh - even larger than Anovos DN TLJ - angled mesh area towards the front and teeth TLJ Anovos angled mesh towards front and teeth and smaller clips/recesses TFA Anovos It's not even a combinations of both DN helmets, the mesh corner and nose plate positions and widths don't match the DN TFA or TLJ helmets, perhaps they remoulded or used old Anovos. The closest match on the side mesh would be the Cardinal with TFA Anovos, doesn't match the TFA from DN which is really weird. My thoughts, Cardinal was pre TLJ so really should be wearing TFA but that really comes down to our DL and the LMO's
  8. There is no actual size, I have seen some use the foam dowel before, personally they are a little thick unless you can find a smaller foam. References @9-11 ribs
  9. Please stand by A.J. will be along in due course, can take a few days
  10. Looking good, final adjustments can be done once you have your ab/cod on.
  11. Looking forward to seeing this build, hopefully it moves a little faster than your helmet upgrades, I've only got so many years left in me
  12. It's amazing how much knowledge you can take away from an armor workshop, very hard to stop and take photos when you are deep down the rabbit hole.
  13. Any progress is good progress, real life can get in the way, don't worry the armor will still be there when you have more time
  14. It's really up to you, I like using threaded screws/nuts, just helps if you want to make any fines adjustments, drilling out rivets are a pain, rivets are just what was used on the originals.
  15. You may want to contact @justjoseph63 for one of his greeble kits

Our June Newsletter is packed with information as we have plenty happening, so lets get into the update. New CRL and new section of our forums. In May the LMO team took a vote on where the Imperial Commando costume from the last two episodes of The Mandalorian Season 3 would live. Turns out FISD is the new home for this very cool looking costume. As usual we try and put as much as possible into the research and development of CRL's and as such we built a new section of the forums to house this costume which is a slight depart from the traditional mostly "Hard Armour" costumes that live within FISD. This new section has a gallery, section for build threads, a research area and much more. The plan is to continue to grow this section, fleshing it out with more vendors, hopefully some behind the scenes info and of course that good ole support you have come to know and love about our forums. Ultimatley, we will have a solid CRL, and already have a member 3D printing the armour and planning his build. There are more details on the new section further on in the newsletter, so please come take a look. While on CRL's, Pyre is almost complete. The CRL is written, just a couple more important photos to come from our builder, and off to the LMO office it goes for final approval. We are all very excited to add this shiny, gold clad TFA TK variant to our roster so watch this space. Some fun stuff to come Not only do we have a new merch run launching, some of the staff had a little in house design comp to come up with a few FISD Wallpapers for your laptops and home PC's. These will be available to all members only through the forum, and in a simple download format. Keep an eye open for the first release launching soon. The 1500! Each month we launch a catch cry as we move towards our goal of hitting 1500 members approved at Expert Infantry level. keep an eye open for these and announcements on how we are progressing plus there will be merch! The 1500 Strength in numbers! Until next month, happy trooping, building and helping others! With Unquestioned Loyalty Andrew Franke TK-11469 "Sly11" Detachment Leader Greetings Fellow Troopers! The Coin and Patch runs are finally complete I'm ready start the FISD Shield Pin run, the run is now open for a limited time, 10 piece limit, you can place your order here Run will close on 16 JUL 2023 or when the supply of pins is exhausted. I have contacted all the members that submitted on the interest thread (Thank you to @MaskedVengeance for the assist in sorting them out). And I have opened the run to everyone! There is a cap at 2500 pins, This run will be open until 16 July 2023 or once we sell out of pins. In other FISD merch news. If you are a newly approved FISD member, and you are interest in one of our most recent FISD/Legion 25th Anniversary coins, I saved a few extra coins for new members only. Send me a DM or email me for more information. Also, we do have a several other merch items in the mix and we are excited to see how they will do, so keep and eye out for an interest thread or two in the next few weeks as well. With Unquestioned Loyalty James Silvius TK-12953 "jsilvius" Merchandise & Branding Officer Two troops in a day keeps the Emperor away! Please welcome TK 88222 to the Stormtrooper Hall of Fame, May 2023! @tdurden Troop log can be found here. Well done trooper and congratulations! Two in a day is quite something! Keep this up and you'll have earned that badge in no time! Other HOF recipients can be found here. With Unquestioned Loyalty Jonatan Östling TK-23592 "Nairy" Curator Hall Of Fame Thank you to Luca "Morgi" TK-66744 for starting the FISD specific meme thread, you can find it here Currently as of 11th June there are 32,735 approved costumes in the legion, out of these under FISD there are 5,305 which is 16.2% of all approved 501st costumes. This percentage has been dropping steadily for the last few years, the larger the legion costume totals grows the smaller amount of TK's there are. As a comparison when I started we had just under 25% of all costumes in the Legion, that was almost 10 years ago. Some may have seen that we have just lost top position of detachment with the most amount of approved costumes, JRS has just passed FISD with 3 more, you can find a thread on the subject here It is still quite amazing that there are so many FOTK's compared to say Hero's or ESB's, many don't realize these version costumes can be achieved quite easily with only swapping out a helmet and a few other items, you can see which items in this comparison PDF Info can be found on the legion holocron New Forum Area and Costume We have now officially opened the newest section of our forums to house the Imperial Commando. Referred to as "Gideon's' Stormtroopers" by the makers of the costume, IronHead Studios, they are seen on mass in episode 23 and 24 of The Mandalorian An Eye For Detail I am always surprised of the level of detailing some members will go to and this is especially true with this build, Dave's "Helotech" TK98695 3D Helmet Interior is one of those builds, it is outstanding and deserves to be highlighted this month. His build started at the end of May 2022 and has just been finished (but are we every truly finish ) Well done Dave the finish is a credit to you. If you'd like to have a look at the rest of his build the thread is here Two new threads have opened up in the Vader's Valkyries help center if you are in need of help or can offer advice please post in these threads or send a private message to Vicky "Vicky_Velocipanda" TK50893 Valkyries help center: WEARING TK armor & Valkyries help center: BUILDING TK armor Celebration Picture Contest How do I enter? You need to be an approved TK. You can submit up to five pictures, which have to be taken at SWCE 23. You either need to be on the photo or have taken the photo. Every photo needs to feature at least one 501st Stormtrooper. All pictures should be of a reasonable quality, so please don’t upload them directly to the forum. Instead you can use a secondary platform like Imgur. You need to have the rights to the picture(s) and consent to having them shared on FISD Social Media. The contest is open for two weeks. Once the contest is closed, Staff will vote on the winner. Therefore, Staff will be excluded from the contest. What can I win? We are giving away one of the FISD Sweatshirts (size M), one of the 25th Legion Anniversary FISD Coins, and one Star Wars Celebration Patch to the winner. Additionally, the winning picture will be turned into a SWCE Badge Design, of which you will get a digital copy. Since we’ve all spent enough money on Celebration already, shipping will be covered as well. Full info here The contest will close on the 19th of June 2023, 12:00 GMT. CRL's Currently Under Construction Please see below the links for four CRL's FISD currently has under construction and discussion. If we managed to get any more under way, they can also be added to the active WIP list. It is awesome to see that we have members working hard towards some exciting new additions to the detachments roster that will aid in further growing and enticing members to our friendly home. These are what we have, and if you have input or can assist these members in bringing their dreams to reality, please feel free to participate in the build threads. Any and all advice/suggestions given will be specific, constructive, helpful and respectful. Please note that this program will NOT take the place of your local GML, as Detachments are not chartered for costume approval and can not override a GMLs decision, but is instead a peer review program designed to help you look your best and offer guidance and positive feedback. For more information on this program, please visit the link here. Don't forget to visit our 3D section when next surfing the FISD forums, there is plenty of useful information to potentially help you on your next TK adventure. If you haven't already seen it, please take a moment to review the 2023 Attaché Announcements and Kickoff thread. It contains what I hope is helpful information for all of you, as well as a reminder to sound off on the current Check-In thread if you haven't already done so. A reminder, too, that we are always looking for new attachés, especially for units currently without one (or two) as shown on THIS LIST. If you know of a trooper who you think would serve the post well, encourage them to apply for Attaché status HERE! With Unquestioned Loyalty Caleb Mask TK-73692 "MaskedVengeance" Attache Ambassador The FISD Master Armorer program is an optional, detachment only incentive award to recognize individuals who have directly helped another 501st stormtrooper to achieve Expert Infantry status. Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. To register a “win” in the program, the assistance must have provided hands-on help trimming, building, and/or fitting of said armor for the person who was awarded Expert Infantry status. More information can be found here Want to setup a "Fire Team? the Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion Stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. You can find more information here. Let's all give a warm FISD welcome to our 72nd Fire Team: Name: Scary Looking Nerd Herders Region: Swedish Garrison, Trinity Squad (Trinity area) Logo: For those interested here is the original discussion on the creation of Fire teams here With Unquestioned Loyalty Mark Ryner TK-4584 "captsafe66" Fire Team Relations So what exactly are and levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Keep in mind that no question is too small, and that your queries will only be seen by the D.O. Staff. We are here to help in any way we can, so please feel free to send us a message by clicking on this link: @Deployment Officer Team and we will get back to you A.S.A.P.! The 1500 Strength in numbers! 17. Adding sides shims will help, you need to fill the seams with ABS paste for centurion Some armor makes are bigger than others, AM being the largest, thread here may be of interest
  18. This is the link you need to add https://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=36263
  19. Common strapping reference, centurion approved
  20. NO brackets are not a requirement for Centurion Kidney Armor A separate kidney plate is present, split from the posterior armor. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): Abdominal and Kidney Plate align horizontally at top Cut-out notches at the bottom of right and left sides of the Kidney Armor are optional. If present, each notch is approximately 22 mm tall and the back of the notch ideally is aligned with the front edges of the Posterior Armor plate.. Three rivets, approximately 5/16"(8mm) diameter, are present on the left side of the kidney plate. Note: The original rivets used for the TK armor were bifurcated rivets or split rivets. Rivets are equally spaced along the depth of the armor and about 10mm from the edge. The heads are rounded or domed. Note: Paperclip brads are not considered to have a domed head. Rivets are painted white. Posterior Armor A separate rear armor piece is split from the Kidney Armor OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): Two male snaps are present on the lower center tab of the Posterior Armor. Snaps do not need to be functional. Snaps are silver in color with the bottom of the snap facing outward and are not painted.
  21. My mistake, was the only thread I found in Merchandise, eventually found an earlier thread in April 2007 but this was in the General Section not Merchandise Staff discussion began Nov 4 2006
  22. A good reference for strapping of backplate and posterior. And great how to for snaps
  23. Some of that gap may be covered by your ears and S trim so check those before you get too far along making changes
  24. Before my time, run was April 2008
  25. Congratulations and welcome to the Expert Infantry and also the EI Honor Gallery
