"That person is not really into Star Wars" is not a thing that was ever said to someone wearing a 501st approved Star Wars costume. -Eric -
Yes. It is. In any language. Even Swedish. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

IMHO the vocoder should be semi gloss... specifically Testors Semi-Gloss Black #1139 -Eric

The Complex and Terrifying Reality of Star Wars Fandom
Darth Aloha replied to Darth Aloha's topic in Off Topic
define: hyperbole -Eric -
A guy by the name of Andrey Summers wrote an article on 05/31/2005 for the now defunct Jive online magazine that really struck a chord with me. Turns out, we all hate Star Wars. I found the article on web.archive.org and have reprinted here for your reading pleasure. I hope you enjoyed this as much as I do. -Eric

More than light... my hyperfirm can be happily hucked across a room. I was outside on a sidewalk during a troop this fall and a girl was really scared of our guns. I, for reals, threw it away so she'd come give me a high five and take a photo. That's worth the price of hyperfirm admission. -Eric

Sitting at your computer dressed as a stormtrooper does not count! -Eric

Yep. The database that supports FISD fell down and went boom last night. I couldn't fix it myself so I opened a ticket with our hosting provider this morning. They pulled a few levers from behind the curtain and the site is back. I'll be doing an extra site backup today just to make sure. During the break I hope you enjoyed either A ) Other legion related forums B ) real life -Eric

Amazon sells a set with straight and curved pair for pretty cheap too. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
No I meant I can't find my doopy E-11. -Eric

UK armor makers? RS and TM come to mind. I suggest signing up on the UK Garrison's forums and let their official armorers (look to the Billy Haggis) help you choose. I'm pretty sure there are other vendors in the UK that aren't popular here on FISD. -Eric

Adjusting Sniper Plate
Darth Aloha replied to Lancer's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Kyler: Did you overlap the front of your shin? It kinda looks like there is too much of it if you did... or its as the other Eric said your cover strip is too wide for fit the sniper knee. Typically most folks leave the front sorta about 22-25mm ish for a more accurate look and just shim the back to accommodate wider calves. -Eric -
I used this stuff on my doopy (which I can't find anywhere):

Hi Matt. Not worth the money in any way. There is much better armor out there that will look and fit better with less work than you'll need to get that FX suit reworked. Plus you'll never get approved in the 501st in the UK with that armor. They're (rightfully) very picky. -Eric

I like the look of a hammered paint finish E-11. In addition to what Bone said... make sure you also leave the grip shiny black. -Eric

Build goofs that everyone has made
Darth Aloha replied to Tusken RTT's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I riveted my thigh pack above the ridge originally. It looked so dumb attached to the actual thigh. I also put my shins together entirely wrong. The only person who eventually noticed was RT-MOD himself. At first I was too scared to rivet my belt the canvas belt and had it velcroed on. It can off with a SPROING! during a troop and landed in the grass at a charity walk. Hooray for the Hawaiian Sith Cheerleaders who are the best handlers in the Legion. I can be seen with my hands on my belt in the photos from that troop. My shoulder bridges gave me heartburn so in a fit of frustration I zap-a-gap'd them. That stuff is pretty runny. The CA glue drip can still be seen on my chestplate if you look closely. On my Vader build I recently riveted the saber hook on the belt backwards such that the hook was against my thigh. Oops. -Eric -
I recently accused costuming nutbar David Ramsey (TrooperPX on FISD) of being the "poster child for a costume 12 step program." His (hilarious) response: I drooped with David and his wife Kimberly at two cons and third two day event this year. Every time I turned around the two of them were in a different Star Wars costume. They must spend a mint on Legion trading cards. -Eric

Good lord man. I don't recommend quitting for anyone. It's terrible! Kidding aside... you can do it. Just set small goals for yourself. Tell yourself "all I have to do is not smoke until tomorrow morning" and then tomorrow morning tell yourself a new goal time. And after a few times reaching your goal you can tell yourself "I totally survived and made it through the last goal. It won't ever get any harder than that." I found that keeping your mouth feeling clean and fresh helps. Pepperminty mints or gum worked for me. -Eric

Are these boots too short?
Darth Aloha replied to TheArchdude's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Your shins will always be popping off of those there boots. TK Boots made theirs taller just for that reason and I wish I had a 2nd gen pair because my shin slides up and gets caught on my boot now and then. -Eric
