Getting worried here (Ata)
Darth Aloha replied to deadvision's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Isaac: I think you'll be fine. You may need to shim the sides of your armor but that's not that big a deal. Maybe ATA to include some extra plastic for shims so the color matches? Are your calves wide too? You can also shim the back of them if need be. -Eric -

The headset mic that I use and luff
Darth Aloha replied to Darth Aloha's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
I don't know how this one tastes compared to yours. That could be an issue for you. -Eric -
Most guys on MEPD rattle can those canvas pouches to make them black. Rolf's pouches: ------------ You can also buy pouches from this guy on MEPD who makes some pretty sweet ones. Me? I like the look of a leather pouch on a HWT, but I admittedly have never played the game the HWT comes from. -Eric

The headset mic that I use and luff
Darth Aloha posted a topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
I posted a while back about my favorite PTT solutions and totally forgot to mention the headset that I use. I narrowed it down to two headsets. It was pretty good but still picked up a lot of feedback when I wanted to be loud. This mic was very comfortable and fits around the back of your head. I'm probably going to use this for my impending Vader because an over the head type may interfere with the hard hat liner in my Vader bucket. I've never used the strap thingy. Next I tried and loved this unit I found on Amazon. ----------- -

We tend to be the caretakers of the white EU stormtrooper-esque costumes. We have more resources than most detachments to do so. FISD certainly has the largest body of experts. -Eric -
Clamps is just happy to see you. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I hang mine around my neck with the strap provided under my chest. It sorta sits under my ab plate sometimes. Your mic has a lot to do with how much feedback you get when all suited up. Ask pickles or ladyinwhite. I'm loud. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I can't wait to see this here DT in person. -Eric -
I forgot to mention that you can see how many likes you have in your user profile. I know its totally stupid to have yet another title thing based on an utterly asinine metric but here are the titles for your amusement. I totally stole them from SLD's forum: Imperial Citizen 1 Lowly Private 5 Grunt 10 Lieutenant 15 Captain 20 Admiral 35 Fleet Admiral 50 Regional Moff 60 Grand Moff 70 Grand Admiral 85 Forum Apprentice 100 Forum Knight 150 Forum Master 200 Forum Lord 300 Galactic Forum Emperor 501 Dark Lord of the Forum 1000 -Eric

All, The ability to like a forum post as been enabled. You'll see a little button at the bottom of every posts to click to like it. The names of people who like the post will show up. The only wrinkle is that by default you won't be notified that they liked it unless you change your notification settings. Click on the little person icon at the top right to the left of your forum name and choose "options" Find the section about liking posts and enable it to pop up and/or email you when someone likes your posts. I prefer the little thing at the top right to show up when my posts are liked. Please post here or PM me if you have problems liking posts. Aaaaaaloha, -Eric

starsaber25's MTK ANH Stunt Build
Darth Aloha replied to starsaber25's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Ah so. They do look wider for sure. People are rigging all manner of Velcro on their boots to connect to shins these days. Maybe that would help keep the boot tops in once you close your shins... If you can close them. Best to walk around the house in boots and shins before you decide to do anything drastic. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Making FX Armor 501st Approvable?
Darth Aloha replied to jacketrat's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
For basic approval (the OP's question) grody rivets are allowable. Sadly. But like Paul said... If you're redoing an FX anyways... Why not go EIB -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

The newer TKboots have a pretty high ankle but look narrower. Please don't buy caboots. Other folks use these same boots too. I may have missed it in the thread (lazy tapatalker) but have you worn your shins around with your boots yet? -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Agreed. Approximate. I I was thinking that if we had approximate measurements for various types of armor it may prove useful. Shimming complicates things of course. We won't crucify or burn you at the stake but we will pelt you to death with black FX ab buttons. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Steve: Would it be possible to get some measurements (using some common reference point) off a well put together RS suit to share? From there we might be able to also provide locations for various other armor types that mimic the same proportions.... With a without shims ? -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

As I've said before... You're the worst at this costuming thing. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Putting on leg armor/boots?
Darth Aloha replied to Grimez's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Once I get my thighs on I slip my foot into a boot while it is on the floor and kinda lift it toward my hand. I then grab the loop on the back of my TK boot and pull it on. It's a slight flamingo maneuver but I don't need to raise it all the way. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Making FX Armor 501st Approvable?

The short list to replace (I think): Helmet Belt Holster Ab buttons And cut the kidney and butt plate to make two parts. Did I miss anything from the CRL? -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Where can i find a cheap Admiral Ackbar mask?
Darth Aloha replied to GrievousIsFum's topic in Other 501st Costumes
I was going to answer but I realized that with every cheap part I always end up buying three times as much as I first planned... Making it expensive. Although the last thing on my mind is how much money I spent on my costume whenever I get a hug or a high five from an itty bitty Star Wars fan. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Dollars to donuts it's IE that is causing that. There's a huge upgrade to the forum available but it may be another month before I can even try it on the test server. Please do try it on chrome or Firefox. -Eric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
