  1. Please help me welcome new 501st Legion member, TK-3967, Dan Bergeron!!!! :dancing-trooper: :dancing-trooper:
  2. That blower is comparable to the one seen here: ------------- You really don't want to go above 30dB, otherwise it gets really tough to hear the little ones when they talk to you. I've made a few helmet fan kits similar to that. A 9V battery will only last about 3 hours tho. I have found using 6 AAA's to last around 6-8 hours. Using a pair of 3 AAA battery holders wired in series with a switch in the ground line. Works for me! I do have TK4261's micro blower (not offered at this time) mounted to my lens which keeps me fog-free. The one you have above in mounted against the left side of the Hovi Mic which blows across my face...and another on the right side for summer parades. Here's a couple pics: ----------- Hope those help!
  3. Add some white elastic to your shoulder straps in the back and I think you're golden. You look awesome in armor!
  4. I use the RomFx. I like the different voice modulation levels. And the ablility to add a few sounds. Tho, I really want to get the iCOM to compare the two. I love the static burst from the iCOM that most resembles the movie "clicks". I've heard that the iCOM has issues with the static burst going off at wierd times. The RomFx works great and I have never had an issue with it...but if you're looking for screen accurate "clicks" after you speak, iCOM is where it's at.
  5. Pat, Have you had it long? If not, maybe ask Jim for an exchange.
  6. I mean, if I'm being a total jerk...PLEASE let me know. I'm looking at it from a new guy stand point. The site, IMHO, should be changed. Jim, I had to google your post. Nope, I'm not the smartest person to wear white...But this makes me want to learn how to build and design a website. Time to do some research...maybe I CAN help....someday.
  7. Ok, that I get. But why on Earth would they leave those two schemes as options, let alone the default. For someone new to the 501st and wanting to do one of those costume over there, wouldn't you want to have something that people could read? No, I'm not a web designer. But...REALLY? White on white? Wow.
  8. Can some of you taller...over 6 foot ATA armor owners point links to your build threads here. A fellow ATA builder needs to see how to close the gap between the back and kidney plate. He is almost 6'2" and has about a 3 inch gap. Thanks!
  9. Can you post some pictures of the area? It will help in determining what the best method would be.
  10. I posted this over on the legion boards.... What is up with the armoredcalvary site???? I was going to join up there to do some research and it is so hard to read. It almost gives you a headache trying to see through all the white and grey. Might I suggest a total redesign, something ledgible would be nice. Or is there some way to change the theme and I'm just being a big fat cry baby??? YIKES! ALSO, I tried entering in both my email addresses in to sign in. When I went to add my email address, it said my email was already in use. So I went to the forgot password page and entered in both email addresses that were used and both times got an error message about not being able to find the user name you selected...blah blah blah. I understand this may not be a very popular site like whitearmor or sithlords, but COME ON!!!! Sorry, just frustrated. I want to thank the detachment command staff here for the awesome and EASY TO READ forum and site. OMG, I had to come back here and give my eyes a break from trying to read that "another word for pooy" site. Whoever designed and approved that theme or whatever, should have their head examined!!! I signed up over there awhile ago, but forgot my user name...so I went to the register page and tried both my email addresses I use, tk5569@wi.rr.com and soldermaster@wi.rr.com . Both gave me an error saying it was already in use...I thought ok no prob, I'll just go to the sign in page and click forgot password. Then I get an error message saying there is no record of the user name or email....WTF?? SO, maybe one of you know's who runs that outfit could maybe look into the problem...AND change that crummy theme or background or whatever that hard to read, eye bleeder site! K...I'm done crying.
  11. The only thing that I would do is tighten up your left side strapping. If you could close the gap just a bit more, I think you could be in the CRL. But that's just me being an anal armor jerk!! Great work on your Hero build!!!! I'm jealous of your TM armor....SOOOOOOO AWESOME!!!
  12. TKBoots.com is a great place to get boots. I have another pair on the way myself. Tho, to be totally movie accurate, you can get black Chelsea boots and paint them white. Many of us have TK409's neckseal. LadySewForUs is another excellent maker of neck seals. Of course, it depends on the type your're looking for also. And what materials you are comfotable with. Check out the Ongoing Sales section of the Imperial Commisary for other makers. Any other questions? FIRE AWAY!!!
  13. If you are 6' and 150, you will drown in AM and RT. I strongly suggest ATA for the accuracy and affordability. Either way, you will have to do some trimming. IDK, maybe Terrell will pre-trim it for a fee. Contact him. He's not your only hope, but your best bet. The Henderson dive skin can be found here: ------ Hero or stunt is a matter of helmet lenses and holster rivets. Check out a few build threads and you'll be able to see what I'm talking about. In my first post I included a thread link, it has ATA's contact info.
  14. Kinda nice having a TK lid named after me! So, Terrell, will you be offering the ATA-Plus soon? A resin TK lid sounds heavy.
  15. Welcome Boba! May I suggest this thread to start Getting Started You will notice FX is now AM. The armor you should get depends on your body type. The TKs in the OT (original trilogy), were roughly 5'9" - 5'11" and around 150-170 lbs. If you are with in that, I would suggest either ATA or AP armor. If you are above that, RT-MOD or AM...AM being the cheaper but not as screen accurate of the larger armors. The Aker amp you speak of IMHO is the best bang for your buck. Can't go wrong with Jim's stuff. Bodysuit is more of a preference rather than anything. Some like the two piece under armour. Both Heat Gear and Cold Gear. Others like myself, like the Henderson Dive Skin. A one piece suit. Again, there's others out there and it just depends on what works best for you. The Under Armour is around $50 per piece, the dive skin is $50. Rubber gloves are canon, but nomex flight gloves are much more comfy. I use the rubber ones for high profile events only. If you have any other questions, PLEASE, feel free to ask away! We are here to help!
  16. Rachel, Most little girls who hear my cousin Teri, TK5270, talk all say" WOW, that one is a girl!!!" I say don't bother with sounding male!
  17. For the thighs, I just use some 1 inch elastic belting from JoAnn Fabrics. The regular elastic turns into bacon after a few troops. The elastic belting holds up much better. 2 snaps in each thigh and 4 snaps in the cod/ab. Works great for me! Here's a place online. http://www.createforless.com/Dritz+Belting+Elastic+1x+10yd+Reel+Black/pid166476.aspx
  18. The Attaché program should help us raise our Expert level. On Jan. 21st, there is an armor party planned. I will be assisting 1 future prospect, Thailzar (ATA-TKC), 2 new ATA owners, TK4813 (TK) and Tom TB/DZ/SL 5435 (TK), and ptnenz (TK/TX) with their respective builds. We're going to shoot for Centurion for the new guy and the 2 ATA builds. Gonna try to get the TK/TX guy up to EI on his TK and Specialist for his TX.
  19. Dan, do you have a photobucket account? It would make these pictures larger and easier to see...add you don't have to click on them...like this Dan's ATA stuff "....and what really gets them is when you stick your butt out like this...."
  20. Once glued, you will be able to move the "clamshell" easy enough to close. Just feel with your hands to line up the halves before pressing the velcro together. You will be suprised how well the industrial velcro holds.
