  1. Hi Chris! The eFX bucket is pretty big so you should have plenty of room in there. A couple options are: to the right and left (if you're using two fans) of the hovis one fan in back drawing in fresh air, one where the vocorder is blowing up. I have an RT-MOD lid, little tight in there, so I have one by my left hovi secured with velcro and one small blower to the right of my lens blowing across to prevent fogging. Works for me. What type of fans do you have? Pics will help us suggest the best place for your stuff! ....MMMMMMMM Pictures!
  2. Thanks Sean! You are a life saver. I'm not too familiar with AP so your tips are definately appreciated!! Yes, we are going to use butt joints with finishing strips ala ANH. I will pick up an iron and continue taking tips from you AP guys! My RT-MOD came pre trimmed. All I had to do was slap it together. AP will be a fun experience! I love building...Now, what kit to buy next....What?...did someone say TM? I'd like an ESB suit next!!
  3. It's my router for sure,,,grrr
  4. Hello troopers! OK, so I've been trooping around in my RT-MOD suit and love every minute of it. My cousin, who is stationed in Iraq until Sept., bought an AP full kit. I have begun the process of trimming it. Lots to trim for those who don't know.. Viewing many threads here, I see everyone mostly used a modeling iron. What brand and where to buy? I just don't want to Easter egg it. This will turn into a build thread as soon as she gets home. I just want to get the trimming out of the way for her...leaving some extra ABS for return edging, of course.
  5. Happy Birthday!!!
  6. Ya, you won't be disappointed with the AKER....and the battery life on that rechargable??...WOW. It lasted through 5 troops...About 14 hours worth. I charged it for the first time after SWIC on July 10th. FamilyJim really found a nice amp at a fair price. I work at a electric motor repair shop with a MG set panel dept. I just got my hands on some more of that foam...it's nice stuff.
  7. I am glad you're happy, Sean!
  8. Wade, that looks like the micro Imperial Fan Kit...if you troop during the summer, you may want his larger squirrel fan kit. I have both and love em!....Tho I did modify the 9V squirrel fan...instead of 1 9V battery, I wired it for 6 AAAs...lasts longer. Padding/foam shipped out today...you should have it soon.
  9. Ya I agree. Tho, I'm not sure which version of helemt I have. I got mine in March of this year. Finding a good spot for my face fan is a little difficult. It's in the lower left hovi area with battery boxes in the side and back. I swapped out the 9V box and wired it for 6 AAAs with a switch. It should last 3 times as long...the 9V only lasted about 1.5 to 2 hours max. I also have the Aker amp behind my chest. Love it! I have my setup on another thread. Sean and Wade, I have some nice strips of foam ready to ship out Monday. You should have more than enough...the foam works well in armor also for keeping stuff from moving around IE forearms, shins, etc. Thanks for taking part in a foam experiment!
  10. A good pair of scissors works best...tho I'm sure a razor knife would work too. You can also double it up. It sticks to itself quite nicely!
  11. Here's what the padding/foam looks like... It's 1 1/8" thick and has industrial grade adhesive on the back with a backing you just peel off. This is mainly used for sound insulation on motor/generator sets. I get to keep the scraps after a job is complete. My garbage picking is for your comfy lids! This stuff is used at work, but is only ordered per job. I'll try to save as much as I can and once I build up a "stock", I'll offer it up on the commisary. I only have a few pieces right now so Sean and Wade, consider yourselves lab rats!! LOL Post when you get it and how you like it.
  12. Sean, PM me and I'll send you some padding. I have some similar stuff I get from work. We use it for sound insulation in motor/generator sets...but it's nice and soft and self adhesive!
  13. E6000 will not work...at least, not in my case. It didn't bond to the hand plates at all. I used Loctite Superflex Non-Corrosive RTV Clear Silicone Adhesive Sealant. Here's a link http://www.alexgs.com/product/loctite-51387.html
  14. Well, It seems to be my router... When connected, I get Page Cannot be displayed. When I remove the router, it comes up fine....I have router firewall off and still no deal...It's a Linksys WRT54GS2. Do I need to change settings?
  15. How do i find out why I can't connect to the FISD? I have to use a proxy to connect. I have Road Runner Broadband.
  16. Glad you approve! I have since replaced the wireless receiver for the ROM/FX. I put the ROM/FX board into my old Blue Point "Leatherman" case. One wire going from the ROM/FX to the AKER amp and one wire for the Mic. I mounted the ROM/FX batteries in two 4AA holders right under the foam shelves atached with velcro. I just run the wire under my neck seal and into the lid. I will post pics this weekend. AFTER MY FIRST TROOP!
  17. Or for the backs, you could place a small piece of white industrial velcro to hold the strap to the backplate but still have the "floating" effect. Works great on mine and will cover the holes.
  18. I'll follow you into battle anytime, Paul! I think it's going to be tough to catch the MEPD in percentage anytime soon. BUT, it IS possible. If a new guy, me, can make EIB shortly after receiving his Legion ID, anyone should be able to make it to EIB. With a liitle time, hard work, and maybe a little blood, it's possible. Oh...and it was the Japanese who bomber Pearl Harbor.
  19. I'm just curious on how many troopers have their armor overlapped AND have the finishing strips ANH style. I'm in the middle if adding the strips, but before I complete it, just wanna see some pics of other troopers who have done it successfully.
  20. RT will add bumps if you ask for it. He did for me. Not sure why he doesn't do them on all lids, tho.
