  2. Hi All. This is my first build of armour which is from TM in 2mm ABS. I've been lurking for a while trying to pick up as much info as I can. Brown box arrived last week.

  3. It really comes down to person's individual costume. IMHO, it's like snowtroopers that way - some people look awesome & others not so much. For sure some one will do this and we'll have a different CRL. As for various armor types, even in a modern military there can be an overlap of equipment that is fielded. Not sure how it is now, but in my era for instance we had just regular BDUs and M16A1s, while the regular army folks had summer weights & M16A2s. My first unit still had jeeps for years before humvees trickled down. It's very conceivable in a huge empire like this that older, functional armor would still be around, especially in the outer rim. Just because new armor gets fielded doesn't mean that everyone has the cash to upgrade immediately. Heck, look at the USAF - the B2 didn't exactly replace the B52 now, did it? Yup, they are flying airplanes older than 85% of the US population.

  4. Oh please don’t think I was complaining. I LOVE this kit with all its (accurate) quirks. I didn’t mention it in the post, I really should have, but my plan was definitely to remove all the return edge which will certainly help. Cheers again gents. I’m on my way home from a troop now and will do a bit more work tonight. Hopefully even take some pics. I did mention I’d neglected to take more earlier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  5. Daniel's advice is spot-on. Removing all the return edges on those bells will not only allow them to ride closer, it is 100% screen accurate. Many troopers like the "thicker" look the return edges give their armor, but in reality those were pretty much non-existent in the screen used armor. This thread may help explain that:

  6. Finally got around to uploading my troop pics and log from 2017 until now and I'm at 36 troops in an FISD costume! Requesting a profile update for 25 troops :

  7. I find that when the bells are trimmed they slip nicely over the biceps as they are flexible. I’m fairly built (5’10 205lbs) and they fit me fine. If trimmed correctly there’s ample space. Not trying to be smart about it but I feel the RS bells has gotten alot of complaints (I mean in general) about beeing small when, as I see it, they are not. Just saying for those looking at this thread and wondering about the bells.

  8. Some photos would help. You can remove any return edge from the bottom of the shoulders which may give you a little more room

  9. Very interesting thread, great looking results already Brian! Looking forward to very accurate folding stocks without all the hollowing out and reconstructing/shaping effort! Judging by the quality of your scope casts these sterling parts are going to be nothing short of awesome!!!

  10. You will all be proud to know on this day, 12 years later, I've ordered Jims kit and will begin my journey to become a TFA First Order stormtrooper! I will of course share my journey in a build thread! For the First Order!

  11. So, my package from Dave arrived today! In it was some items he had over from his own build; leather strips for the holster, aluminum strips for the TD etc. THANK YOU DAVE! But it also included something unexpected... A suprise to be sure, but a welcome one! Maybe a start to a new collection? Once again, I would like to thank Dave/ @Helotech for everything. His build inspired me to fix mine up and he has given me a lot of info on how he did it. And sending a package with leftovers all the way from Canada? Above and beyond! When I maybe get a coin for myself from here, I will be sure to send him one too! I would also like to thank @gmrhodes13, @justjoseph63, @TKSpartan and everybody else for getting me this far! This is truly a blessed forum! That's it for now, move along!

  12. Just my opinion. The armor changed in these films because of production reasons, not intentional timeline reasons. Not to mention that most people are not as concerned with continuity as we all are. Thor has a different costume in every movie but it’s “supposed” to be the same outfit.

  13. Hi there! It's finally time for me to build my a femtrooper armor. I'm doing this for my beautiful girlfriend, @Vicky_Velocipanda. She recieved the BBB yesterday (nov. 16th) and we started right off with trimming and assembling the helmet. Here's the progress so far. Unpacking the BBB... trimming the ears... trimming the rest of the helmet... and assembling it: We will trim the eyes and teeth later today and document it. Afterwards I started trimming the backplate and then... well just went on. So this is what we've roughly trimmed now: Vicky will modify these boots to fit the CRL. The next step is trimming the legs and arms. Is my assumption correct, that we're supposed to use the butt joint method here with an inverted coverstripe? (on the inside instead of outside) Or shall we use the overlap method? p.s.: this thread will be pic heavy.

  14. TD Trimming time! I've found that I really like the curved lexan scissors. Trimming 3mm off of the end caps. Final results at 20mm After trimming 5mm from the tube and 2mm from the side of the control panel.
