  2. Started working on hanging the spine plate. First thing I realized is the slots that I added for torso strapping are not going to work with the spine plate: So I’m going to abandon those slots and do something different for the strapping later. I cut some little tabs from ABS to use and guides for the spine plate and glued those in place: Then I cut some ABS to use as hangers for the spine plate. Used my heat gun to bend them and then glued them on the back: Turned out pretty good:

  4. As Daniel already said, that extra leather material on the back is to provide you with flexibility on strap length. If you had a baster that didn't quite fit you could extend the strap and either punch in your own new holes, or use the second one that Darman pre-punches. Looks like Mario also already hit you up with a list of AM builds. Man, I do particularly love A.J.'s build... so much so that I compiled a PDF of it to print or view on a tablet or mobile device. Haha. Have you already ordered your boots from Imperial Boots, now known as KeepTrooping.com? That's a link to the white 421s that are excellent, and they currently have a production wave open right now! Also I gotta mention something about thermal detonators, which who knows, I may have already told you at some point. Dave makes my favorite one (proper diameter size and colored tube), but I do still prefer to use Tony's (Ukswrath) clips. I'm looking forward to your BBB Day, and I'm sure the anticipation is killing you too! Soon and very soon!

  5. My neck seal and holster came in today. I've got a question about Damin's Props holster. What is the extra length of leather from the strap, with a hole punched in it for? Do I need to trim it? Or should I not worry with it because it's on the backside?

  7. I’m not trying to persuade you BUT In case you want to raise it some you can use a lexan scissor with a curve and cut…well 5mm or so without any danger of ruining the look. I didn’t even dissassamble my helmet for when I cut mine. I also cut mine with a slight curve. And…if you ever wan’t to go back to a lower brow you just pull down on the brow itself, it don’t need much ”grab” to stay in place. whatever makes you happy

  9. Hey all, I wanted to get a discussion going around a proposal that I've heard being floated in various FOTK-building Facebook groups and see if there was support to warrant consideration of amending the current base-level CRLs. In short, I propose that the current text for the First Order Stormtrooper costume CRLs (TFA and TLJ) be amended to ALLOW for visible seams at the shoulder and sides of the barrel at the BASIC level ONLY. Okay but... I fully recognize that this would be an slight step backwards in terms of the overall accuracy of these CRLs. As seen in the films that these CRLs are based upon, the studio suits did not have visible seams in these areas. Correct. Acknowledged. I don't need to post screen shots to this point. However, there is precedent that seams were present in these areas in SOME existing Star Wars canon, and I believe that the sacrifice in accuracy at the Basic level only would be worth allowing for greater acceptance and approval of these costumes. In the Star Wars Resistance show (which again, I acknowledge would be a separate and distinct CRL overall, as there are substantive differences from the movie realistic costumes), it can be seen that a seam was INTENTIONALLY added at the shoulder and sides in the renderings for their First Order Stormtroopers. It would have been one less line to not do that, but it was done so purposefully and consistently. The shoulder and side seams are often areas of significant stress and strain as the armor is flexed open to take it on/off - which is also why the Disney Parks have adopted a similar system to allow for greater comfort and ease of dressing for their Galaxy's Edge cast members, as seen below. While again, these are not the same as production suits, at the Basic level, I think it makes sense from a practical and ergonomic standpoint. The movie suits that we are seeking to emulate were made of a thick and extremely durable and flexible (likely urethane) material that was formed with tooling and materials that far exceed what will likely be possible at the hobby/cosplay level any time soon, so I believe there should be some ability to make up for the limitations of the ABS suits we are trying to use to replicate. Concessions to accuracy are made in several existing Legion CRLs for comfort and to allow for a great range of body types, and I propose it be considered in this case as well. To smooth these seams necessitates either the precise and arduous task of using ABS slurry to fill and blend the seams, then sanding and buffing back to an indistinguishable high gloss - a specialized skill that most new or even experienced builders have not mastered - or to use body filler and paint the area or entire set of armor, as was required with previous makers due to the type of construction. These suits shouldn't NEED to be painted, and these skills present a significant challenge to most builders, resulting in the FOTK being a rare site at troops in my Garrison and an extremely limited numbers of a submission for L2 and 3. At the end of the day, I guess my point is... is this really a big deal? I don't think it is. SHOULD those seams be filled? Yea, totally. But is it worth mentioning at the Basic level when it stands to be a potential blocker to membership for many new members, may help extend the service life of the armor for more troops, and overall doesn't make a significant difference to the appearance of the suit? Naw, I don't think so. Most fans are going to the see the (Denuo Novo press photo) Stormtrooper below and just think "holy heck, a stormtrooper!" and never notice those seams. I'd like to give the opportunity to more members and fans alike to have that experience, instead of potentially furthering the image of elitism and snobbery that the Clubs unfortunately sometimes project due to our high standards. I would propose that the CRL text be amended, as below (or similar): Back/Yoke The back plate contains a “O II” design, and the O is black in color. There are no visible seams on the back/yoke. The yoke portion extends over the wearer's shoulders and curves under the armpits. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): There are no visible seams on the back/yoke. OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): A support tab extending from the outside top arch of the yoke shall be present. The support tab should be of a sturdy material, white in color. Abdomen Section The abdomen section must wrap around the wearer's body without a visible seam. The abdomen has 7 boxes attached that match the order and placement shown against the armor. The large box has a small black recessed square on the lower left to the wearer. The second box to the right of the wearer has a small black recessed rectangle near the top. OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable): The boxes should sit against the abdominal plate with minimal to no gaps. The abdomen section must wrap around the wearer's body without a visible seam. OPTIONAL Level three certification (if applicable): The seams between the abdominal armor and the 7 boxes should not be filled. I'm curious to hear feedback from our membership, though keep in mind that this change would largely not affect those of us who are regulars here on the forums, or any submissions to the DOs for L2 or L3. This would be a local Garrison/Outpost GML-level change that could potentially bolster our membership and make this costume significantly more accessible. Let me know your thoughts and thank you for reading!

  10. Hello everyone, the reason for this post is to request help and advice on how to correctly or accurately build the CRL for HEAVY ASSAULT STORMTROOPER (JEDI FALLEN ORDER) since it currently does not appear registered, and I would like to be able to achieve it since it is one of my favorite TK variants. I hope I can. help. Greetings

  12. This version has come up a few times in conversations, like any new costume you have to build it before you can have a CRL published. Research is the key and you need to supply 360deg images of the model, more information here https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:CRLGuide You could definitely compare to a few of the other game variants for the base, TK CRL's here https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Posting images of your build will also help to get feedback on your costume. I believe this would be the first version TK with a grey pauldron. A few items, no button covers, no middle rivet on belt, rivets on ends of belt (position different to ROTJ) holster attaches behind the belt (not seen with Z6) Not sure how you are going to sit and cross your legs You can find some nice references of the weathering and rear images here Good luck and hope to see a WIP soon

  13. When you can't aim, spray. That BFG tho! Sorry, not much constructive to add here other than to affirm what Adam already stated and say that you'll need a lot of references from all angles to build a new CRL. Also, below is a link to another discussion of this trooper from back in 2020. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/49276-fallen-order-heavy-assault-stormtrooper/ Goodness that drop box alignment just seems so wrong to my ANH eyes.

  17. As the others have said, your bucket already looks GREAT as-is! And so does your whole kit in general! I think you're spot on with just dropping the forearms a bit to even the bicep-forearm and forearm-handplate gaps. Are we gonna see a Pre-Approval post from you soon?!

  27. After some months of back and forth, I'm back on the bandwagon. 2 weeks in and I'm down 7 lbs. Changed the diet, added some additional walking and light exercises. Now to keep the momentum going. I've got a long way to rid myself of the 50 extra lbs I've put back on, but I have to continue to tell myself this is a marathon, not a sprint. 28. Tilting the face plate will increase or decrease the gap between the eyes/brim and brow, this also will increase or decrease the opening of the helmet, the room inside and of course ear positioning on the sides may move and need refitting, so make sure you check all of these before final fitment My stunt helmet has pretty much the same gap as what you have, I wouldn't bother adjusting it, it's all a personal choice though

  30. Greetings all Just an FYI Each year we retire all IPM access and get ready to work on activating the detachment plans for the new term. What this means is all those with IPM status will be set back to attaché status or 501st Stormtrooper status. As we start to realise the actual workload of execution of the plan, we will look to bring more members onto IPM if the area of work exists in that section of the forums (an area only visible to IPM level extended staff. Thank you to those that helped in this area in the last term, this is no reflection on the fine work anyone did, simply our reset to go again. Generally, we would be in election cycle at this time but due to an early finish for us, we can get the ball rolling 10 days earlier than those still under elections. Stay tuned for updates and call outs for assistance.

We aim to please but also to make sure we involve all our members. Discussion of a new ladies section is no secret and we are making good on bringing this full circle with its own section of the FISD forums. Come and help Teresa make this a new friendly and safe home for all our female TK's and make it your own. This new section is opening soon. More competitions, first off will be a design competition (members only), and a chance to leave a mark on the face of the FISD forums, keep your eyes open for that. There is some revamping going to take place and expansion on areas where technology is improving and times changing. We look forward to adding a section for 3D resin printers, these are becoming very popular with brilliant results and we want those with experience to share their knowledge, files and services right here on FISD. The replica section is also undertaking a minor tweak to include First Order TK's. If you are OCD and love those fine details and magic finds, you will have a place to post your intimate armour details inside and out. It amazes me we still find hidden gems on OT bits and pieces so I look forward to more with the newer generation stuff. Who wants merch!!, we are already working up ideas for this years items, so keep an eye on the forums for interest threads, competitions and more. More CRL work to come, not only are we looking to add more goodies to current CRL's but the entire legion is preparing to move to an updated CRL Platform. This will be a monumental task for every detachment and needs to be totally complete by October when the old platform will no longer be supported by the vendor. The hopes are for new look CRL's with added features to possibly make it easier to create and use all CRL's. New functionality is also on the agenda. The mystery stuff: Are you preparing for the 1500! more to come on that in the future. More staff to continue to expand in every direction we can. I will be looking to add additional staff with skill sets for particular areas we wish to grow, watch this space for updates and plan initiatives where you could make a difference and support your fellow members. More to come but hopefully this whets your appetite for the moment. We are in for a great year on all our platforms! With unquestioned loyalty Andrew Franke TK-11469 (Sly11)

  35. For anyone wondering what the various logos, bars, and titles to the left of posts is all about, this is the thread for you! User Ranks Found above the avatar, rank is determined either by post count or other criteria: Private: 0-24 posts Corporal: 25-49 posts Sergeant: 50-99 posts Lieutenant: 100-149 posts Captain: 150-199 posts Major: 250-499 posts Colonel: 500-999 posts Commander: 1000-1499 posts General: 1500-1999 posts Field Marshall: 2000-2999 posts Grand Moff: 3000+ posts Expert Infantry: Users who have received an EIB Award Centurion: Users who have been granted Centurion Status There are also special ranks given to Command Staff and Extended Staff, such as Detachment Leader, Deployment Officer, Combat Photographer, Hall of Fame Curator, etc. Achievement and Service Awards The FISD Achievement Award is granted for exemplary service to, or outstanding achievement for, FISD. Tradition holds that persons currently serving on staff cannot be granted Achievement Medals (or else it can become too self-serving). Thus, if you see a staff member with an Achievement Medal, they've all earned them prior to joining staff. To date only two people have ever earned a second medal, and no one has ever earned a third. Award Levels FISD Achievement Award (1st Award) FISD Achievement Award (2nd Award) ... FISD Achievement Award (6th Award) (and so on) The FISD Service Award is granted to recognize the contributions of Command Staff for their commitment to keeping the detachment running. Each award represents a full year of service. Additional awards are denoted by a star (1 Gold Star = 5 Silver Stars, 1 Silver Star = 5 Bronze Stars, etc.). A frame denotes fifteen years of service, with additional stars for further years. Award Levels FISD Service Award (1st Award) FISD Service Award (2nd Award) FISD Service Award (9th Award) FISD Service Award (10th Award) ... FISD Service Award (16th Award) (and so on) 3D Contributor Award This program, as with others, is an optional Detachment-only award incentive. It recognizes members who have gone above and beyond in contributing to our 3D forum section. The Silver award can be earned numerous times over the years. The Gold award is given to those that have contributed at such an astounding level that it is deemed appropriate. All awards are given at the discretion of Command Staff. Award Levels Silver 3D Contributor Award Gold 3D Contributor Award For more information please refer to this thread. Attaché Outstanding Achievement Award This award is bestowed to those who consistently exemplify the meaning of an Imperial Attaché and have gone above-and-beyond in helping their fellow troopers for at least one full year: For more information and a list of recipients please refer to this thread. FISD Master Armorer The FISD Master Armorer program is an optional, detachment only incentive award to recognize individuals who have directly helped another 501st stormtrooper to achieve Expert Infantry status. Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. Award Levels FISD Armorer (5+ "wins") FISD Senior Armorer (15+ "wins") FISD Master Armorer (25+ "wins") Centurion Badge These are awarded to those who have reached the highest levels of costume approval for FISD. These are awarded only once, to the person, regardless of costumes: Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) These are awarded per costume, thus a person can have more than one EIB award. Stars (like the awards above) indicate multiple awards, and appear above the EI badge (1 Blue Star = 5 Gold Stars, 1 Gold Star = 5 Silver Stars). Award Levels Expert Infantry Badge (1st Award) Expert Infantry Badge (2nd Award) Expert Infantry Badge (3rd Award) Expert Infantry Badge (4th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (5th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (6th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (7th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (8th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (9th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (10th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (11th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (12th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (13th Award) Expert Infantry Badge (14th Award) NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars For more information on the Expert Infantry and Centurion programs, please refer to this thread. EIB and Centurion requirements can be found in the corresponding costume CRLs (as Level 2 and 3), additional information on how to apply is available here for EIB and here for Centurion.
