  1. As a few of you may know, I semi-retired, sold my house and bought a new 5th wheel to hit the road! Finally got my "TK man-cave" organized, but needless to say at 10 ft x 8 ft. it's tiny! While it's probably what most might would definitely consider TK overkill, it makes me happy so I thought I'd share a few pics.

  2. Time for a long overdue update. Life hasn't been bad, but it has been very busy which has caused my build to grind to a halt. I've had to be realistic and that I could either do a poor job with the build and try and rush it through, or put it away for now. It's going to get boxed up and stored until next year. On a positive side, I'm not giving up on joining the 501st as a TK. I've placed my order for a fully commissioned build from RS Propmasters. With any luck I'll be submitting an application by the end of the year.

  4. Hi all! After being approved a couple of weeks back, I'm finally getting around to checking in. I've had a blast putting together my armor over the last year and I can't wait to get trooping! Many thanks to all of you here on the forums, especially @ukswrath for his amazing Anovos tutorial. This has always been my dream costume and I'm beyond grateful for everyone that has assisted along the way. Long live the Empire!

  5. Rough placement of parts to get an idea if sizes and boxes will work. (Still need to source the bottom right funnel assembly, aerial tube still not cut to length). The oil pan is 14.5 inches wide, and is the widest pan of this type I could find in UK. Pretty sure not as wide as the usual wedco pan :/ The 3 sandwich boxes aren't trimmed yet, so will have a smaller footprint. Blue box has correct(ish) measurements, but looks too big relatively, so may replace. Think the other 2 will be OK. Top centre cylinder will be shortened by about 1.25 inches. The large radio box is too big. Will either resize or source another. Considering flattening off the bottom of the oil pan too. I'm comparing to these three pics (believe one is Joseph, not sure the other two), as well as the game screen grabs.

  6. That's cool. Same width all the way. I have a plan [emoji106]

  7. I would presume they should be the same width top to bottom otherwise it would push away from your butt

  9. Interesting and it makes sense cause It looks like there were, as you can read in starwarshelmets.com two versions of the ROTJ Helmets and the most of them had bubble lenses and a few reconditioned ESB that probably kept the flat lenses. http://www.starwarshelmets.com/Original-ROTJ-stormtrooper-armor-helmets.htm

  14. Base MG34 had no wires they were added with the T track for the DLT19. Here are the battlefront versions and you can make out the wire on both UKG are one of the garrisons with higher accuracy than a lot of others so no doubt if it's on their forum it's going to be needed for basic approval

  15. Colin doesn't mention if it was a GML block he may have found this with his own research/knowledge This is true and the CRL's are just a guide for those making the costume as well as GML's use and some are a little stricter than others, but that's if it was a GML block. Personally I'm with Dan as a GML I wouldn't block for basic approval, but that's not to say others may

  16. Trimming the ears is pretty much everyone's fear on their first armour build, but dont stress. The ears should have trim lines on them. Trim short of those leaving some room for fine tuning and further trimming and adjustment. Once you have some of the excess removed and you hold them against the sides of the helmet you will get a better idea of how much more you need to remove. There are a few other tricks to employ when you start getting closer to those trim lines but just take it slow, trim carefully and keep testing against the helmet for high and low points. Here is a great tutorial on Ears for you. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/29238-my-helmet-ear-tutorial/

  19. POST 68 Photo taken in Miramar, FL on 11/24/20 Something a little different from a troop photo. After a long day and suiting up to take his Centurion submission photos, my son Alex started to take off his armor and I caught him with this candid shot and just had to do something with it. With some editing magic, he became that TK that just barely made it out of battle and is ready to head back to the comfort of his barracks, while at the same time contemplating if he was really cut out for the front lines..... 20. Hey everyone! I have made some progress mostly trimming return edges and re-fitting everything. I tried (mostly) everything on together I did notice I was having an issue with the back plate falling i think i need to adjust the shoulders a little so they sit on my shoulders, Also my arm pieces kept rotating when I was trying to get pictures but nothing is attached yet, here are some pictures!

  23. Very happy about the release date for second season of the Mandalorian... ...but I got pinged 10 times by my coworkers within the first hour of work. Including by one of the SVP's and by the head of HR. Share stories of how you know you are THE Star Wars person at work! As for myself.... Colleagues give me SW themed Valentine's Day and Birthday cards. When I showed up to work on Halloween in full armor, my boss looked at me and was like "...I'm 95% sure that's Jessy in there." (My reaction was "who's the other 5%?!") New hires are told to find me from all the Star Wars toys on my cubicle. The day after the season finale of Clone Wars dropped, I got like 5 pings of people asking what my reaction was. When places started closing down due to the pandemic, someone stuck the meme of General Grevious on my desk.

  24. Yes, we make a certain amount of sport of those with kits like this, but let's face it, not everyone can afford to spend $1000 + dollars on TK armor/accessories but still want to live the dream we all had of being a Stormtrooper. I bought my first kit from ebay to use as a Halloween costume. Did I make mistakes on my build? Good GOD yes! When I got it done I thought I was the coolest cat alive, but being an accuracy nut I did some research, found out about the 501st/FISD and it opened up a whole new world I never knew existed. I have seen many folks with ebay type kits while trooping (especially at SW movie premiers). I always hand them one of my trading cards and tell them a bit about the 501st in case they want more information. Some people are happy-as-clams to wear non "approved" armor and just want to get out, have fun, (I say more power to them) and don't care about being approved, then there are the rest of us, lol. To put it another way, what if a person with wonky looking armor decides to check out the FISD in hopes of joining and sees their photo(s) posted with deriding comments. Ouch. Just something to think about....
