  1. The family of Peter Mayhew, with deep love and sadness, regrets to share the news that Peter has passed away. He left us the evening of April 30, 2019 with his family by his side in his North Texas home. Peter was the man behind the mask of Chewbacca in the original Star Wars trilogy, episode 3 of the prequels, and the New Trilogy. He fought his way back from being wheelchair-bound to stand tall and portray Chewbacca once more in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He also consulted on The Last Jedi in an attempt to teach his successor. He put his heart and soul into the role of Chewbacca and it showed in every frame of the films from his knock kneed running, firing his bowcaster from the hip, his bright blue eyes, down to each subtle movement of his head and mouth. But, to him, the Star Wars family meant so much more to him than a role in a film. The relationships that began then grew into the friends and family that he would love for decades to come. As the films released and became more well-known he had his eyes opened to the possibilities of what he could achieve with his role in the Star Wars universe. For more than 30 years Peter travelled all over the world spending time with his fans and friends. Peter developed lifelong friendships with the other cast members and his fans while on the convention circuit touching the lives of millions. As he realized over the years the impact he could have, he became heavily involved with the 501st legion, Wounded Warriors, Make-a-Wish, and other non-profit organizations. To this end, he established the Peter Mayhew Foundation, supporting everything from individuals and families in crisis situations to food and supplies for children of Venezuela during their recent road to freedom. He not only provided funds but became personally involved with each individual, family and cause he supported. As he grew older he continued to “soldier on” as he put it and was completely in his element around his fans and supporters. He grew great strength from the energy of his family, friends and the fans he knew and loved. He is survived by his wife Angie and three children. His kindness, generosity and care will live on in the Peter Mayhew Foundation with Angie taking the helm as his voice. There will be a memorial service for friends and family held on June 29th and in early December in Los Angeles there will be a memorial for fans set up with his family in attendance, personal effects, and collection at EmpireConLA. For additional information, information on the memorials or to offer condolences email [email protected] Rather than gifts and flowers the family asks that you consider donating to the foundation so that they can continue his efforts to help the community. 2. That looks great! Well done trooper! It will come up that the black border around the ears is thinner than the tears (I assume the stickers that came with the helmet), might be easier to make that change now.

  3. OK, I am finally settled in and have internet again! (Now I know what the residents of South Park felt like, lol). I have a ton of things to get up to speed on and a pile of PMs to answer, so thanks for bearing with me during my hiatus.

  4. I tidied up the cover strips. I wasn't confident that tape would hold the forearms together while the E6000 cured. So I glued strips of HIPS on the inside with CA to hold things in place while I applied the cover strips. HIPS Strip on one side. The strips are glued inside. Cover strips are in place. I'm glad I have lots of clamps, but I wish I had more magnets. Greg was right.

  5. Forearms are done. When I took off the clamps I found gaps on one of them. I found some posts on ABS paste and made some to fill the gap. Then it was just a matter of sanding, polishing and elbow grease. ABS paste is a brilliant.

  7. Finally got around to cleaning up my nerd room today and managed to make some more progress on my Hero TK! I've been spending a lot of time working on Mr. Cricket's stunt TK lately, so it's nice to finally work on something of mine. It's kind of nice to have so much white armor in the room to block out that rebel scum back there... I'm suddenly realizing that I'm pretty dang close to the finish line with my Hero suit! I've got to do some additional trimming off the back of the shoulder bells. They're tucked under the back plate too much back there, and all that extra material feels odd. Should be a matter of try-on-mark-take-off-trim-try-on etc. to get it right. I've filled in the teeth to the Hero lid and assembled the ears. I still have to do some additional clean up around the eyes and teeth before I get to doing the face paint details. I also want to polish the areas where I filled in the teeth just to make sure that the paint applies the same as on the smooth area around it. The ears gave me a lot of trouble , but I don't think they look too bad. And next to Mr. Cricket's stunt lid in progress... Oh, one more thing! I bought this gadget last year, and whoa, it is a total game-changer! It's a snap press. OMG, it's simply the best for setting snaps without any effort at all! No more bang! bang! bang! bang! bang! to get the snap attached. You simply put one half of the snap on the bottom, the other on the top, press down on the lever, and voila! Perfectly set snap. This is my favorite tool next to my Dremel. I'm considering bringing it to the next armor party I go to, just so I can set snaps for people. It's that much fun to use! True story: I had this snap press out at my last armor party, and one of the people there loved it so much that she actually bought one online before she left the event! BTW, this is where I bought mine. Currently it's listed at $69.99 and only $0.99 shipping within the US! Select the die option "Die Set for Ring Snaps (Double Cap) 24 Ligne/15m" if you're planning on setting Tandy Line 24 snaps. I did not select a hole cutting die.

  9. Why would you downgrade your eye resolution that much and at such expense? Your eyes are way higher resolution.

  12. I asked Anovos that question specifically last week. They replied and said "as advised last year.." the kits are TLJ and will not ship with a TFA helmet (even if requested). It will definitely be a TLJ helmet. So much for their earlier email updates saying "you'll be able to build either version". More BS from Anovos. I'd hoped they'd at least ship with both cod versions? But that's not happening.

  14. Nice work trooper, a couple of other pics you may need. D ring Sniper plate photos of the sides should be direct side on so the angle behind the sniper plate can be seen. Side of ab/kidney showing all rivets Bottom ear screw You also have a little paint on the gum areas, paint should not leave the teeth A few things you could tweak to really shine: Belt could come up a little higher, usually sits just under the last ab button Mic tip front edges could be painted white Ideally there is a little white seen under the brow trim, the lower brow is more Hero style Good luck with approval

  17. I added some plates behind the kidney plate so when butted together it stops the ab from pushing outwards and keeps them in alignment, the belt will help them stay in position, perhaps this may work. Remember if seeking L2 or L3 you will need to add rivets to the side of the ab/kidney so don't do too much work behind there as you will need to add strapping. A couple of builds you may find helpful on sizing : https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38416-crickets-rs-stunt-build-for-the-vertically-challenged/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/42868-sha-shas-wtf-anh-stunt-build-complete/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38842-fragarocks-rs-stunt-build-not-to-scale/
