Hey All! I was encouraged to start a build thread so I would have as much help available to me as possible. ;-) I have purchased and received a DoopyDoo resin kit and also just received my T-Jay Completion kit. My plans are to build this blaster while I gather funds to order my armor (ANH TK). It won't be a fast build as I know all too well life tends to get in the way. lol I'm also a R2, Gonk, and Mouse Droid builder so hopefully that will help me along the way with building skilz. My daytime job is stay-at-home Dad and I work part time as a Makerspace Technician at our local college teaching students, staff and community members how to use 3D printers and laser cutter/engraver. So here goes... Wish me luck! Kris aka Lumpy DoopDoo Kit - Tino's Completion Kit - All of the "little bits" from Tino's kit sorted - I was bored at work so I started on a prototype stand. I know a little ahead of myself. lol - Now where to start first? Hmmmph?!?2 points

Great job on everything. And the reinforcement idea was a great addition. People should start doing this right from the start as a precaution. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Some excellent advice from Greg there, Patrick. You can definitely remove the return edges on the top and bottom, as well as remove the cover strips**, glue a wider cover strip on the inside using some extra ABS (it doesn't have to be pretty, just functional) and then re-glue the outer cover strips on. I drew up a (crude) diagram below. ** Hopefully you used E-6000 to glue them together. To separate them, try gently (and carefully) prying them off with a sharp knife. Putting them in the freezer for a while beforehand will stiffen the glue and make this easier.2 points

Hi Everyone! After 4 long troops, I noticed a few hairline cracks on my neck and in either side of the shoulder straps. I added a ABS doubler on the back side of the shoulder straps. In addition, is mixed up some structural epoxy and flocked cotton (FLOX). I made a filet around the inside neckline. Another easy way would to CA glue some ABS strips on the neckline. I gave it a little paint to blend in after everything dried. The next item I wanted to modify was my shins. I added some velcro inside the front of the shins and to the front of my boots. This should eliminate any rotation. Lastly, I cleaned and polished everything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Hey Patrick. It looks like you may have trimmed that bicep a little small. You might be able to buy yourself some room by removing the upper and lower return edges. They are not needed for approval anyways. If that doesn't work - did you trim to have 15mm coverstrips? if so, you might have to go with slightly wider ones. you could go as much as 18mm or so (15mm is cannon but not required). You could also make the coverstrip along the back a bit wider too (they don't have to match perfectly front to back). I would do this by adding a wide inner coverstrip and gluing the two haves together so that you will have a space between the butt edges (this will give the seam more strength). Then you would glue on the outer coverstrip (which will be a bit wider than what you have). I can send you a pic if this doesn't make sense. I hope this helps.2 points

Alright David welcome back, thank you for your Centurion application and making the required repairs. CRL and Centurion Application Requirements: All submission photos are present. Your armor displays all the required components as set out in the level 3 CRL. Joseph and I would like to congratulate and welcome you to Centurion brother. Spectacular work on that AP armor On another note you are Centurion #400, congratulations Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: As mentioned during your EIB application, raising the arms and waist belt slightly would enhance the overall look of your armor. Other than that you're good to go. Very clean build trooper. Time to head and make Vader and the Empire proud.1 point

High brow/low brow thoughts. From what I've read and seen in various build threads (and since this isn't a CRL specific item), I just wanted to confirm. Brow position, as in height above eyes, is a personal preference? I've seen where some have duplicated a high brow as seen in a few Stormtrooper scenes in ANH and others have gone with the low brow, hero - look. As long as these are tolerances as seen in the movie, I assume anything in between is acceptable? I'm leaning toward something just above the eyes where there is a small gap of white between eyes and brow much like the below scene. Any guidance, thoughts and opinions are encouraged :-) Thanks in advance! Dashrazor's ANH Album (Ref pic)1 point

I didn't think about posting that here before now, but here are the links to my EIB and Centurion status applications for anyone who could be interested! ^^ EIB: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/44870-tk-41123-requesting-anh-stunt-eib-status-ap-833/ Centurion: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/44880-tk-41123-requesting-anh-stunt-centurion-status-ap/ Sent from my LG-M470 using Tapatalk1 point

Hey David, welcome to your EIB review, thank you for applying. CRL and EIB Application Requirements: ll submission photos have been posted. Your armor displays all the necessary elements to qualify for Expert Infantry. Fantastic job on your AP build., the attention to detail is outstanding. Welcome to L2 trooper! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: In this section we review observations made by your fellow troopers and ourselves. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor. Wow what a clean build, you must be very proud. We have a couple minor suggestions but nothing critical. First is your forearms are sagging down over the hand guards, raising the biceps and forearms 1/2" or so would really help. Reference photo Lastly, we generally like to see the waist belt a bit higher, at or just below the lower ab buttons as seen in the reference photo. Reference photo Centurion Suggestions: Because Centurion photos show much more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Centurion might be seen there and not here. We try to point out all we can from what is seen but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. This is also where we try and get you in the best possible position for a successful Centurion application. At this time we don't see anything holding you up from a clean Centurion application if you choose to apply. Again, great job on your build and EI application .1 point

Hi brothers, after obtaining my EIB I decided to share my build of E-11 blaster. I had an old Doopydooed' Hasbro that I decided to rework as a heavy duty blaster while I was working on the main one (Doopydoos classic resin kit). Of course ma main reference for information and tips was this thread: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/ ... reference/ That's the Hasbro after I covered the screws, engraved the charging handle track and inserted the aluminium bar: Doopy's kit after the standard modifications on front sight, folding stock and engraving on the bolt. Bolts for the kit and for the Hasbro Counter on Hasbro was a printed one (calculating lens magnification and distortion) glued on a small tube. Counter on the kit was a real one. I used my son's birthday (that's also my TK id, sorta). The glorious power cylinders mod! On the paintjob: galvanized effect paint for the body, bronze for the scope, flat black for the counter: Final look of the blasters with a flat black over the previous hand, a bit of orange rusty effect and additional semi-gloss black on the handle. Some details: d-ring and spring Scope lenses were adapted from a small binocular that had cool red lenses. Hasbro has the usual trigger inside, the kit has a full free view (altough not useful as the binocular lenses were mounted reversed) Gli otturatori: Power cylinders! Top1 point

I would say my body build is borderline average to fit. I am going to hold off until I can figure out my "plan of attack" when it comes to getting my armor together. I am in the process of getting a new job and don't know the work schedule.1 point

I second that - and you found a nice way to install the D-ring on your DoopyDoo's kit. Looks very good.1 point

Hi Kris, seems like the laser cutter/engraver from your local college came in handy for building this beautyful blaster stand. Very nice work. And those four pieces to rest your blaster on while building, really look awesome! Instead of throwing them away when your build is done, you should consider using them for another two blaster stands. What about the inaccurate magazine from the DoopyDoo's kit? Any plans to replace that? Or maybe scratch-build something with that freaky laser cutter? Following...1 point

Still prepping to get ready for the build. I made these cradle/mount/jigs tonight to help with when working on the main body. These will come in handy for when I'm drilling and filing away. Hoping to start on this early next week.1 point

Awesome! I tried the hot water bath. I'm working on the belt now and will be able to refit this weekend. I like the idea of the slot especially since it would take away having to do so many snaps!!1 point
-
The belt will make a difference here - it might hold things together for you. If not, you could make a tab and slot connection to join the ab to the kidney. Or a hot water bath to shape the pieces a bit. I had to make a tab and slot connection for my right side ab to kidney and hot bath my butt plate so it didn't flare out (which is a common issue with many trooper's armor). Here is what I did for the tab and slot connection https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/43437-wooks-first-build-anh-stunt-tk-ap/?do=findComment&comment=594738 I lost weight during and after my build. I've had to go back and add foam padding everywhere. It worked pretty well. Good luck with your build. Looking good so far.1 point

I always appreciate good c-section humor! When life throws unwanted things at me, I always try to find some sort of humor in them. I never had a choice about my c-sections (I was pretty upset about this) because both my kids were breech (my kids really wanted to be different even before they were born!). One of my Steven Wright favorites: "I'm addicted to placebos. I'd give them up, but it wouldn't make any difference." Thanks for the laugh!1 point

Yeee haaawwww!!! I opened the door this morning and discovered my replacement parts have arrived!!!! So much happy happy joy joy!!! I can finally recommence with the build. The clock is ticking for me because I'm scheduled for hernia surgery in June and I won't be able to do much of anything for a while after that. I had two c-sections with my kids, and built a patio set in less than a week (all by myself!)... Building and moving the furniture caused the hernia on my c-section scar. The patio set is pretty nice, though... and I now call it, "The Hernia Collection": Time to cut some plastic now!1 point

I built my Doopys blaster this past week. I decided to make a few mods, but not go crazy in this one. I definitely think another, more derailed, blaster build is in my future. Metal thumb screws, metal site pin, drilled out barrel tip. Modded parts prior to painting. My rag tag paint area. I’m using Rustoleum satin black. Here is the finished product. I’m going to keep the blaster looking new for now, to match my new armor. I’m sure there will be some weathering in my future. Cheers! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
