Small update - spent a couple of very frustrating hours on Saturday trying to repair my poor melted and deformed forearm, but with no luck. Tried another water bath, low level heat gun and blocks to shape, and even busted out the iron, but while I could get the edges moderately back to normal there are still indents across the arms where the elastics dug in. The plastic has started to feel "weak" and it has lost its uniform thickness. RIP right forearm. I've reached out to Mark about purchasing a replacement. Did a bit more trimming to size the thighs, finished up the outer cover strips on the biceps. Definitely felt a bit unmotivated though. I'm looking forward to the 4 day weekend to spend some good chunks of time on it. Thanks for your support and advice. It's always appreciated3 points

Crap, I missed that detail. Good thing that I used E-6000 to glue it, it will be easier to remove and sand. Sent from my Moto X Play using Tapatalk2 points

I had been so busy producing and mailing out swag, I completely forgot about the FISD swag toss! Without further ado, for all FISD members, I am giving away our official FISD silver bullion Challenge coin. This coin weighs in at a whopping one ounce and is struck in 999 fine silver. I am thinking of a number between 1 and 100. First person to guess the number gets the coin shipped to them, free of charge. One guess per member per day until someone gets it.2 points

Imperial Boots are definitely some of the highest quality boots out there. Keep sourcing parts! Getting orders is almost as fun as actually building everything. ...almost...1 point

Good guess. Not the right guess, but a good one. I just pulled a random number out of my head, so don't overthink this one.1 point

Better But if you look at the ref pic that Dan provided you`ll see that the corners are stright, that would make it perfect1 point

Hi mate (me again) lol Looking great! You didn’t waste any time going from EIB to Centurion - I like it! :-) Just a couple of dressing issues that you might find raised. Maybe worth a couple of new pics if you wanted too. I’d just reference the ab and kidney plates not lining up. A little tweaking whilst kitted up should sort that. Your holster has popped off in side pics. The belt could happily come up a little, touching the ab buttons, for that added screen used look. As below. Good luck mate!! Sounds good. I will factor in extra curing time and the reinforcement shim before going to the drawing board Thank you1 point

Honestly, your build is the BEST THING - I love that you documented all of your experiments and "learning experiences". It gives me so much hope1 point

Hang in there, Jen! We've all been there. Some of us more than others! *cough cough* You'll get your TK build mojo back soon, then there will be no stopping you!1 point

Sorry to hear you were unable to salvage the forearm, Jenny! Again, feel free to give me a shout if you have questions or if you want a hand with anything! Finishing up a TK for someone and making some upgrades to another, oh, and finishing my own costume, but I can always find time!1 point

There was talk somewhere. I think the exact wording is the concern. I guess weathering can be pretty literal and the text has to be able to limit what is acceptable. I do like the little bit of "weathering" on the Rogue One TK. It almost looked like they had walked through soot and then gotten rained on. It was just a little streaky charcoalish smudging that helped highlight some of the armours details.1 point

Honestly can you blame the guys at TK boots ? Everyone wants cheap , you get what you pay for, keep buying crap shoes, we have a guy who caters to the cos play community will bend over backwards for anyone of his customers and yet we as a costume community continue to buy shucksty shoes ... I love my TK boots and I’m gonna buy another pair.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Helmet looks awesome! Nice work. The tube stripe template will bleed paint. If you do decide to revisit the tube stripes... Using a toothpick to scrap away unwanted paint works incredibly well. Just give the paint a few hours to dry and it will cleanly scrape off. And put the paint on in light coats. Good of to see you back at it!1 point

Long time, no update, been a busy past couple of weeks. Basically with the spare time I've had I finished filling in the tears and traps, and then I used the Trooper Bay stencils to add the lines. And then came the tube stripes... I had the Trooper Bay stencils for those. I made honest attempts to make those work, even tried the gloss white base layer to prevent the blue paint from bleeding, but nothing worked out well for me. So realizing that I was spending too much time stuck on one part of the project I decided to move on, so I used the supplied decals. I plan to revisit the tube stripes later, likely by taping the outer edges and penciling in some lines to paint to, I seem to do better with that. For now, these will do, applied with soap/water to smooth everything out. And a test fit. Now onto the lenses. Thanks!! Thank you on both accounts!!1 point

So in regards to the strapping conversation, I just stumbled across this pic on the internet. Look at the backarmor behind the shoulder bell. Yup, there's a strap and buckle sticking out from the abdomen. Fascinating. Ukswrath, what are your thoughts? It looks to me like in the back they did the criss-cross pattern with the overalls, and that it starts at the top of the sides.1 point

My boots from Imperial Boots came today! Very pleased with them. They fit like a glove. They also included a rad patch. Hoping to collect some more patches once I get approval!1 point

Thanks, I knew they were shallow but couldn't think of any place I've seen it stated. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk1 point

Nice work, Dominic. Looking sharp. :-) Just a couple of little things that might come up as suggested tweaks: The smaller ab button (pictured right) could possibly be trimmed down a bit. Also, you might be asked to tighten the elastics on the drop boxes to bring them up to the belt. Great build. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Thanks guys!! So no progress on the kit itself, the time just hasn't been there quite yet. But my last day of work for the year is the 19th so I'm really hoping that I can sneak some good armor time in after that. In the meantime I've been comparing the pieces I want to start with (helmet and arms) to what I see in the build threads here to get an idea of what I need to do. Basically just going to take it one step at a time and hopefully watch the box steadily empty out. Meanwhile I received our helmet electronics from ukswrath (thanks again!!), some of the extra parts are for my FOTK helmet: Today over lunch I went on a quick supply run to Home Depot and got the supplies that I didn't have for this build, happy to finally have an excuse to buy a new rivet gun, broke my last one installing a convertible top: Now I just need to get Tandy snaps, S-Trim for the helmet, brown leather strips for the holster-to-belt, elastic & nylon strapping, and some rare earth magnets. Then I should be well supplied (hopefully). And for a slight change of gears, I've seen others share how they've walked down the chain aisle and have seen a random chain link they need to make their E-11 D-Ring just laying on the ground, I guess Home Depot knows when a Trooper is coming: I gave a small cheer and the employee looked at me a little puzzled as I went to pick it up. Unfortunately it was one of the grayish/textured links and I said, "Ah, drat!", although I figured I could have just repainted it. He inquired what I was up to so I explained what I was working on, he thought it was a really cool project and reached into the box that the rolls of chain sit in and pulled out a length of 8 black links, properly sized based on what I've seen posted. He had apparently just cut them off of a length someone bought because a couple of the links were paint chipped (someone was really picky), so they were just going to get thrown away, he bagged them and marked it free. So it worked out in the end!1 point

Hello, Everyone -- I am so sorry for being absent and not answering anyone's questions. This teacher didn't get much of a summer off or any kind of break! I'm going to start transferring and archiving information from our Captain Phasma Costumers facebook group to here for long-term reference, but for the most part that's where most of the build answers including vendors are. I'll work with the team here to get things updated if they haven't already. See, I don't even know! Bad Captain! Anyway, I think my mailbox is useful again, so feel free to PM me, though it's WAY easier to find me on Facebook or email.1 point
