  1. Good thing the wife cannot see the kitchen right now. This sort of thing does not fly in this dojo. Her dojo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  2. First Troop! At a SC Stingrays Hockey game, with jersey auction/raffle proceeds going to Charleston Habitat for Humanity. What a blast. We got to accompany the ceremonial Puck drop, and walk the mezzanine. Crazy seeing people from work, and the public, and their general reactions to the armor. Loved every minute of it. Aside from a couple of armor bites on the calves, it trooped perfectly. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk

  4. I had my 5th troop today. Toronto Alzheimer's Walk for Memories. 2,000+ people. At one point while posing for a photo, an older lady in a wheelchair reached up and took my hand. I'm not sure she even realized a photo was being taken. I knew she was the reason we were there. Glad I had my bucket on. My grandmother died from Alzheimer's so this event meant a lot to me. Wow. What a privilege to be a part of this.

  5. So, I was making my own carry case (and will probably use the box for something else) but it turned out that the foam to fill it was surprisingly expensive. On the other hand, I did come across a £35 aluminium flight case (foam included), couldn't resist! Just finished cutting out all the shapes using a modellers scalpel, 4 hours it took! Surprisingly long work. Happy with the results though Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

  8. Bit more progress this morning... Moving selector switch fitted and trigger guard test fit. I decided not to go with the electrical switch in Tino’s kit (sorry Tino [emoji20]) but I felt digging the handle out enough to fit it and then rebuilding in green stuff was a little beyond my already limited skills![emoji23] Do I leave the nobbly bit in the grip next to the selector as it is or is it replaced by something? 9. To make my kidney to an connections to not overlap one another I had to reinforce the left side and then add a tab and slot to the right. Thanks to Daniel directing me to cricket’s build. I got some black plastic that was just a bit thinner than the AP Armor. The black stuff is 0.06 inch. I cut to size and curved with a heat gun. Mock up to make sure it will work. Glue black piece to kidney. Overkill with clamps? Never. Cut and sand the side posts for the slot. Glue in side posts. Cut and glue in top part to slot. Finished. Keeps the seam from overlapping on itself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. I received my folding stock, front sight housing, front sight pin, bolt handle, and magazine well. Chris, photos do not do these justice. THEY ARE AMAZING!!!! With each piece I own, I get more excited about building your E-11. Thank you for making these.

  13. Great work on the stripes Greg. I see the sniper knee clamped in the background. I hope you are happier with it. It looked really good to me before but with our suits it's all about how we feel about our own kits. Nice kitchen, BTW. I live in a narrow Toronto house. No island for me :-(

  14. If you are trying to post photos for an EIB application you must first be an approved Stormtrooper. There is a pre approval thread you can post photos to get advice on your armor before you submit for 501st approval with your local garrison. Sign up to your local garrison and contact your GML (garrison membership liaison) for getting your Stormtrooper approved. Once you are approved as a Stormtrooper you must ask for an access upgrade here. Then use an online photo host to upload your photos too Imgur, flickr and so on. Once you have direct links to your online photos you can post them into your EIB application, info here

  16. okay, made my first walking parade today ( about a mile and a half) This accomplished two milestones: 1) longest walk in full armor, and 2) longest walk since having my hip replacement implant 11 months ago Additionally, I finally was able to control my Aker feedback issue and more than doubled my sound volume! This involved not only some minor burst/echo/static sliders adjustment but the major problem solver was mounting a thick strip pf memory foam above the Aker box just below the neckline on the chest plate. This really blocked out the sound from feeding back up into my helmet that was causing the feedback loop. Absolutely no squawks for about 3 hours of use, I'll call this a major win, and of course the magic volume mark has been "silver sharpied" Another added bonus is that with my birthday just passing , I'm going to apply some of the gift funds to a better and approvable blaster ....more to come

  18. Also use an area of about 3 " to 4" of adherence to ensure a decent hold.

  19. It's done like that quite regularly. Just use plenty of glue, you don't want it mushing out the sides but be generous.

  24. Sure is! Had a bit of extra room so was finding things to fill the space haha. It's actually got loops for a padlock/luggage lock too, can't believe it was only £35. From what I found online, large chunks of black foam at the required size would have cost about £20! Crazy! You can get upholstery foam cheaper, but it's baby blue, not exactly fitting with the Empire's colour scheme lol Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk

  28. Thanks for the demo Dana. With this armor being so thin its nearly impossible to avoid deformities of any magnitude when attaching a foreign object to its surface be it inside or out. Compared to your earlier versions what we're seeing now is far better reinforcing the fact that whatever you changed in your process snap type or other has appeared to have resolved the issue.

  29. Haha...I promise I haven’t Dan, thanks for the encouragement! I’m currently trying to tackle yr idea of trimming around the t tracks to make them appear like separate components. My cordless drill just died too, waiting for it to charge now [emoji23] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  33. The ears are an exercise in futility. Trim the front and it changes the back , trim the back to help the front , now the top and bottom don't fit any more. so you scratch your head and say maybe it will fit tomorrow. Lol. Good luck with the rest of the build. I'll keep an eye on your build. Looks like it's going to turn out good.

  34. Trim the over hang definitely. But leave as much room for glue to hold on to. You don't want to keep picking it up while trooping. It won't keep you from centurion or anything like that.

  35. Ha. Yeah. You are my official tube stripe guy. Losing one off the back is no biggie. I still need to deal with those “wrong way” stripes at the front. Tomorrow’s adventure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  36. A few days late to this. the issue with the shins is easy to figure out. The shin with the wider top is where the sniper knee goes. So that is the left shin. One side should be bigger than the other just for that purpose. Placement of the sniper knee. It fits a little better that way. If you were to try to put it on the other shin , you would see very large gaps close to the middle on the under side of the sniper knee. A simple test fitting would show that. I'm sure you have figured it out by now, I am just clarifying for other readers. Looking great so far.

  39. I'm just leaving the inside alone for now. I do have fans to install and I do have some gear for a voice changer that I need to install someplace, but that is going to wait until after I get the suit to the point of being able to wear and possibly submit pics with. I was going to plasti-dip, but now I'm leaning towards the velcro. I like what you did with yours. Don't worry about the pace - you're not alone when it comes to finding time for this. Somebody told me when I started this that this is not a race - man, were they right. As soon as I rushed myself, I made stupid mistakes.

  40. There is no real measurements for length. Different makers and different widths of coverstrips would change it. Some people line up center box to coverstrip( me too) and some place it offset making wings(where pen is) even on both sides. Your call. A tip for curved edge: use pipe for TD to mark radius. And make sure rivet is in formed edge at bottom of thigh. Not above the ridge. I like to say when in doubt check out some Centurion photo's if you don't get an answer quick.

  41. Hey Kenton welcome back and thank you for your Centurion application. CRL and Centurion Application Requirements: All required submission photos are present. Nice work on those EIB suggestions. Beautiful job on your overall build and nice blaster upgrade Alright, Andrew and I are delighted to say your armor displays all the elements as set out in the Centurion CRL. Congratulations and welcome to Centurion Other-Armor Fit/Assembly: If we had anything to add here it would be to spend a little more time on the shoulder bells. In your updated photos they're spot on in the back compared to the front view. This could be a simple photo but worth mentioning none the less. Time to get out there and represent the Empire as its newest Centurion

  42. Hi Matt, that’s a great number, mine 14655 is my weight in lbs and my height.... I know my weight will change over time, but hay.. I do know what you mean re ups and downs during the build, thankfully troopers on here give so much encouragement and I found that helped me a lot. Re posting pics, try Tapatalk on your iPad, it’s really easy to post them . Now if you feel great getting your TK ID, just wait till you get EIB and Centurion....... awesome , and you will get it mate [emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  44. Touching up the helmet tonight. I had to touch up some paint and adjust the brow. I did the toothpick trick to clean up the outer edges of the black and then went in and added some grey to even out the black on the inside of traps and tears. Adding grey. Before After Fixing brow. Marked where brow originally sat. Took out the screws and rotated top back to where I wanted it. Marked the new spot and measured the difference. Then marked at the centre point of the helmet where I will trim. Used a straight piece of abs scrap to help draw line. Draw line So I chickened out while measuring and didn’t trim as much as planned. I could have gone higher, but this is better than what I had. After Before Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  46. Been a while since I updated this: I tried several variations of mounting the amp in the chest plate : 1) using velcro facing forward 2) using velcro facing my chest 3) glued on an ABS mounting plate for "clip in mounting", and facing forward I like the ease of installation setup of #3 the best, but at times I am still getting feedback. Oddly enough, no feedback when doing suit-up checkouts, but only after I have my helmet on. I'm thinking that it may be the microphone placement or the microphone itself. Part of the problem may be that I opted for the louder 12w version. Still working out the bugs on this one, but so far I am fairly happy with the TrooperTalk app for the voice changer, using an old iPhone. In other news, it looks like I will not be making Centurion anytime soon. Right now I just can't afford laying out $160, or more, for a toy space gun just to get a badge. Personally, I know that my armor meets all the specs and I put 30+ hours into modifying a blaster, but right now I have more time than money. On that note, I have replaced my hovi tip screens, painted the hovi tip rims white, re-heat-formed the curvature of my butt plate, changed my shoulder bell strapping to bring them more inward and forward, and repainted my vocoder. All in all I'm happy to be a part of 501st, FISD, and a proud EIB TK Sent from my Imperial TK communicator
