helmet fan placement help needed
bluehickey replied to SWAMPTHING's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
I used to have PC fans as well and they just didn't pull much air in, I'd suggest switching to a squirrel fan anyways, they are soooo much better! Plus you'll only need one, not two fans to find placement for. -
Which hasbro blaster? (year? disney? etc..)
bluehickey replied to Redforce's topic in ANH BlasTech E11
I don't know which kit works best, but I have a white hasbro blaster that was painted over with black paint. After trooping with it, the black paint has worn off on the handle where I am always holding it revealing the white plastic underneath. If I could do it all over again, I would have started with a black plastic gun, not the white one, that way any paint that wore off, would only reveal more black and not white underneath. -
An MTK is the helmet I wear as well, it's a great looking lid!

For what he's charging, plus all that still needs to be purchased, it is not a good deal. Plus he openly admits it is recast armor, I don't know why he thinks that is a good selling point! Plus that helmet is just downright ugly. There is no reason anyone should be buying and using an FX helmet when there are so many accurate helmet kits out there for very reasonable prices.

Where does your armor bite you the most?

The ol' elbow pits! -
It's all about the rare earth magnets! Get strong ones so they'll close and stay closed!

All you need is a little education on the topic and StarWarsHelmets.com is the perfect place! http://starwarshelmets.com/imperialfanFX.htm ---------

Yay! -
I definitely love Star Trek the original series, I grew up watching reruns of it when I was a kid and remember seeing all of the movies in the theaters when they came out. In fact, my dad built a large scale Enterprise that was used in a McDonalds commercial when the first movie came out. I enjoyed the new Battlestar Galactica series a lot. I watched a couple episodes of Dr. Who but it didn't move me at all and was a bit cheesy for me to continue on.

Has anyone ever jumped in a pool wearing armor?
bluehickey replied to geronika's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I would probably panic with the claustrophobia of being in water AND having a helmet on. -
Rubberizing inside of helmet
bluehickey replied to bselphfsu282's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I totally agree! Why make your helmet heavier, smellier and not to mention hotter inside? The only time I would ever do this would be on a helmet that I wouldn't troop in! -
Casual shoes with hand painted stormtroopers on them.... http://technabob.com/blog/2012/09/29/stormtrooper-shoes/

Does anyone NOT attach forearms to biceps?

Me too. -
Seriously, when will Angry birds go away?!!! The game is not that great or revolutionary, but the merchandising has gotten way out of hand!

Personally, I'm glad that I have a 4 digit TK number, the 5 digit ones just look weird.

I've got a HWT and people love it. The huge gun and backpack make you just that much cooler. I agree with what others said, you have the option of reverting back to a clean TK anytime you want. I wouldn't go sandy permanently because the pauldron and backpack actually make trooping a little bit more uncomfortable. The pauldron restricts your head movement and the backpack can be a big strain on your shoulders.

Squirrel fans in AP helmet problem!
bluehickey replied to dubVADER's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
You shouldn't need two fans, one good squirrel fan is all you need. I used to have the small computer fans in my helmet and they did so little when it came to cooling down my face. The squirrel fans pull the air in from the bottom/side and not from the back so you get a strong stream of air. When the battery is new, that humming of the fan can be quite loud, I can't even imagine being able to hear anything with two fans on! -
Great idea Juan! My name is Ryan and I'm 38 (yes I was one of the lucky ones to have seen all of the original trilogy in the theaters when they came out)! I have been married for 16 years and have 4 wonderful kids. My oldest two have trooped with me as Jawas in the past. I am an artist and animator. I used to work at Warner Bros. and Dreamworks on hand drawn animated films. I currently have 2 home businesses: the first one is selling Star Wars family member car stickers that I designed: http://starwarsspoof...r_stickers.html. The other is selling pre-made cartoon characters to people who can't draw! I also animated them so people can use them in their own cartoons or eLearning: https://www.cartoonsolutions.com/ I am a part time Flash Animation instructor at the Utah Valley University, where I teach cartoon animation... it's so fun to see people learn a new skill and find joy in bringing their drawings to life. I also like to snowboard, but it's been a couple of years since I've gone. I like to Ripstik with my boys during the summer. My current favorite food to eat is sushi rolls... I can't get enough of that stuff (too bad it's so stinkin' expensive)! I am also a sucker for movie theater popcorn and will admit that I've went to see movies in the past mostly just to eat the popcorn! Besides Star wars, I love Super heroes like Captain America, Superman and Spider-man. I'm also really into character design and am trying to improve my drawing skills. Just take a look at my Pinterest boards and you'll see exactly what I enjoy: http://pinterest.com/starwarsfamily/ I've been trooping as a TK for 3 years and have sadly gained weight as well, making my armor look not as fabulous as it could. I'm currently on Nutrisystem and have lost 15 lbs but need to stick with it better in order to lose more!

Very limited helmet movement......
bluehickey replied to Mayhem75's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
It could be that your chest and shoulder straps are higher than they need to be and are causing the helmet to be limited in it's movement, I'm just guessing since I can't see any photos. Perhaps you could put some foam in the top of your helmet to raise it up a bit off of your armor. -
I highly doubt it would get 501st approval, but you can do it anyways.

Great job!
