  1. Hi Scott, Try the two RS albums here on the FISD forum. They have loads of photos of the RS screen used HDPE stunt helmet in its raw form. I’ve been using these as a reference for my own RS build. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/gallery/album/59-the-rs-suit/ If you want any tips on the build and painting process, some of this might be useful (I’m a nut for detail): https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/49846-cableguy-buildsreplicating-the-rs-prop-masters-anh-stunt-helmet/ As Joseph linked, starwarshelmets.com is one of the best sites around for screen used helmets and info.
  2. Welcome aboard, Zack! :-) I’m sure your armour will be stunning when it arrives. TM is one of the best builders around. For electronics, perhaps consider suppliers such as TroopaCoola, TRAmp, UKSWrath. All make great quality kit. If you’re on a budget, a simple Aker MR1505 is also a good, cheap option for a stormtrooper voice system. (Just remember though, they don’t really “change” your voice, they just help to make it louder). I’ve done various videos on stormtroopers, voice systems, fan systems etc if you fancy a look. Welcome to the legion, Zack! Best wishes CableGuy Dan
  3. Hey troopers, We now have a white stormtrooper helmet! Yay. To be more specific, after the Oxide Red cost came 3 coats of Ford Diamond White spray paint. Here’s a little snippet of the spraying… Painting my helmet ;-) #stormtrooper #shorts #rspropmasters #starwars #spraypaint #retro And the results are as follows; The final coat is applied quite thick( giving it the gloss/shiny finish. It’s hard to get the same shine over the whole helmet, however, the main parts are nice and glossy. Here’s how it look against an ABS helmet (left) and another spray painted helmet (right). Below, the beautiful lumps and bumps: Next up, the hand painted details… [emoji2956][emoji2956][emoji2956]
  4. Hey troopers, Wow - no updates on this since Nov 2020. I have been slacking! ;-) The helmet is still work in progress (due to real life taking priority recently) but it’s getting there. Construction is complete, including as much attention to detail as possible, following Simon’s original helmet. Although, for anyone that has built an ANH or ESB stunt helmet, you’ll know that the ears are always a game. So, trying to exactly replicate Simon’s original ears was not possible, due to the many variables (how is the back and cap aligned? Where are the holes for the screws, etc). I’ll stop waffling and post some pictures below. As below, notice how the right ear of this original does NOT follow the line of the trap, as is common with many stunt helmets. I’ve copied this with my replica. Unfortunately, my alignment (back and cap/faceplate) is not as I’d like, leaving the brow a little lower than the original. However, as this is because of where the rivet holes are, adjusting it would be very risky. Moving on, I have sprayed the helmet with Rust-O-Lium Fossil Green spray paint. This is to replicate the HDPE/PP plastic of the original helmet. Once that had fully dried, I added small areas of Liquid Mask. Later on in the process, the liquid mask will be removed, leaving what look like paint chips in the (to be added later) white gloss coat. You can see the blue/green ish coloured Liquid Mask in the below photos. Next up, a coat of Oxide Red spray paint. This is believed to be the colour of the primer used on the original helmets. And that’s all she wrote for now. I’m ready to apply the Ford Diamond White gloss coat when the weather allows (and when I get off my butt plate and DO IT!!) lol More to come soon. :-)
  5. Great work, Caleb. [emoji2956][emoji1303][emoji2956] Regarding the brow (as you asked), to me your’s has a clear gap between the eyes and the brow - that works for me. It’s the ones that touch or obscure the eye sockets that aren’t quite my cup of tea ;-) Your paint work has come out really nicely. Superbly documented, too. Best wishes Dan
  6. Hey trooper, Welcome aboard. Great to read your excitement!! :-) You’ll find lots of AP builds here on the forum. If you are looking to take inspiration from other copies (builds), perhaps look for some AP builds that have reached EIB and/or Centurion. This means that they have been build with higher standards in mind. If you are looking more to follow the original suits (my preference), I’ve done a load of videos myself that focus more on the little intricacies of the original armours. You’ll find them on my YouTube channel: You’ll also find quite a few pinned posts on the forum where I look deeper into the original suits and helmets. I’m not aware of any specific AP YouTube tutorial series, I’m afraid, but you could also check out the very informative video series by RS Prop Masters. They build their’s to the original sizes (based on the original suit that they own) and gives good tips. Depending on your own size and frame, you can size your own suit up or down as required. Best of luck with your journey, CableGuy
  7. Nice work, Adam. That’s an E-11 to be proud of. [emoji2956][emoji2956][emoji2956][emoji122]
  8. This is very sad news, especially at such a young age. There are some wonderful things said about him above. I did not have any communication with Terrell, but he clearly made a positive impression on many within the community. Buckets off. :-(
  9. Here’s some examples from ANH that highlight the alignment when worn. This appears to be based on the positioning of the elastics within the bicep and forearm. This is probably the video in question. As always with original trilogy armour, not every suit will be the same. However, there are usually very clear patterns where a majority of suits support a certain feature.
  10. Getting there. :-) As you say, the eyes are the main concern at the moment as they are too far apart. The teeth are possible a little shallow, too. Sounds like you’ve got the updates planned though. Hard to be sure of anything else due to the fisheye effect (as the camera was quite close) but overall it’s looking solid. Keep up the good work, Chris.
  11. Hey trooper, Yes, the ears are always a pain in the bum. ;-) As Glen mentioned, the bottom of the ear don’t always sit flush, however the s-trim can partly cover this. Here’s my latest RS build - the left ear is aligned to match the rear line of the trap (as per most screen used helmets), yet there is still a gap at the bottom. More photos and discussion here, if you fancy a look.
  12. Hiya, Yes, I’ve used both Green Stuff and Milliput in the past, both work really well. It starts soft and allows you to shape it to the parts, then dries hard ready for sanding. Dan
  13. Hi Rodney, I used a drill bit that was almost the same size as the resin “hex screw” that goes into the bottom of the grip. Then, after painting, I glued the hex screw/bolt into the grip. Here’s the relevant part from the FISD E-11 Blaster Reference. https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/32111-fisd-e-11-blaster-reference/?do=findComment&comment=414148 Are you referring to this Blaster Reference for ideas?
  14. Welcome aboard, Millssy. [emoji1309] I’m not familiar with that costume, (I’m an old school Original Trilogy guy), but I’m sure there are some knowledgable folks ready to help you. As you’re in the UK, head over to www.ukgarrison.co.uk and sign up to the forum. The team will be happy to guide your through your build and get you ready for clearance. Best wishes Dan /CableGuy
  15. Many congratulations, Glen. Another fine costume. [emoji2956][emoji1303]
  16. Hi folks, I’ve reworked the weathering a little and added the white lettering to the M38 scope. With that in mind, I just HAD to take some new, swanky photos and share them with you all. For anyone that wants to learn a little more about the processes involved, and to see more photos of the finished blaster, here’s a new video: Thanks for stopping by. Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. :-) Dan
  17. Ooo, can’t wait to see your build, Tino. [emoji16]
  18. Go for it, Glen. It certainly gets my approval. :-). (https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/50841-build-log-the-new-jmc-e-11-from-troopacoola/)
